Earlier this evening I noticed some waterspots on my walls. I went into the attic and after going up and down about 15 times, I found where the leak is.

How do I fix this?
pic related, the blue dot is where the leak is. it's dripping very slowly, like 1 drops every 10 seconds or so.

Can you shut off the source OP?
I suppose you could try wraping some flex-seal around it?

yeah i know where the valve is in the garage. right now i have a small bucket underneath it until i figure out what to do

      >flex-seal

I suppose you could find the size of the PVC tube thread at your local hardware store and re-thread it.

it doesn't have threads, it appears to be glued on or something.

that pipe is call pex, google it
literally moron tier plumbing, so you should be able to figure it out

Permanant fix is the only real way.

Looks like you are going to have to replace the connection.

The fitting is like 3 bucks, the tool to clamp it on is like 60 brand new and the clamp rings are like 10 for a dollar. It will fix it better than it was and you get to keep the tool for the next plumbing problem you will have.

Not knowing anything at all about this shit now I have a place to start. i appreciate the input.

it only gets more fun from here. There's tons of videos on youtube showing you the right and wrong ways to install pex and the fittings. literally anyone can do it.

They sawed a voat in half and fixed it. They MADE a boat from a metal screen! Are you implying that the flexseal infomercial was less than truthful?

water pressure in pipe is 40-80 psi
flexseal won't hold against that pressure

You can in Florida. Not everyone lives where it freezes. Every home I've ever had head pipes running through the attic. Never got cold enough to frick with anything.

This is an umponor or umponor style fitting. It could be the the T is damaged causing the leak, or it could be the pipe. The equipment required to fix it Is quite expensive. About 400 usd.

There's a pex fitting even more overpriced and pointless than sharkbites? Amazing.

said get the pex tool (you will need it in the future in your house) and just a bag of the little rings and a fitting. It's a stupid easy fix and cheaper at scale to do it with the rings anyways, I can't imagine why they used such moronic connectors there.

Heat shrink tape + heat gun. Realistically, the leak is so slow that water minerals will plug it up eventually.

    1. turn off the water and open a sink to take the pressure out of the line
    2. run a bead of silicone caulk around where the pipes go into the fitting
    3. after the caulk has cured encase the entire fitting in epoxy putty
    4. wait a day and turn the water back on

thats excpansion pex the tool is expensive, dont crimp that, the colored uponor (pex a type) has been shown to leak from that time period only the clear is good (theres a class action lawsuit so maybe look into that)

easiest solution for a diy : sharkbite, its CTS (copper tubing outside diameter) a cts sharkbite will connect to copper, cpvc, pex a and pex b. (inside diameter of the pex types different, outside is the same thats why the sharkbite will work)

This is still dumb even to get the manual expansion tool at 150 plus fittings. He can buy a 15$ sharkbite no tool needed and be done. Plus can't really mess it up but to know how to expand Pex properly he will be wasting a bunch of time watching videos and junk to do it right. That's too much for him. Time and money
