Studies show that if you give a gun to a person who doesn't understand guns and tell them to shoot you as fast possible, the average time is 1.6 seconds with a glock/revolver and 16.5 seconds with a gun that has a manual safety. They have trouble figuring out how to turn off the safety.

the reason you get an external safety on a handgun is that if a Future Doctor manages to disarm you they don't know how to "turn the gun on". Numerous demonstrations by Massad Ayoob demonstrate that non-gun people can't figure out manual safeties on pistols, and my own experiments confirm this. Additionally, Mas' Ayoob's own research has demonstrated that departments that issued pistols with manual safeties never experienced issues with cops being murdered with their own service weapons.

Anyone who shits on manual safeties has no grasp of the reality of violent encounters.

      >go to and from compact grip for $50 instead of buying a whole other gun
The problem is nobody ever does this. Having two compatible guns and doing a 5 second slide swap on the way out the door is plausible, pulling out the FCU on a whim is never going to happen.
If anyone can somehow jigger the regs so that the slide is the gun (the sensible way around) I'll give them big credit, but this is marketing wank. It's questionably useful even if you have quartermasters and armourers on staff.

Full size grip for sidearm and range use and compact grip for CC. The FCU switch is like a 10-15 second process.

          Anonymous

It isn't, you're probably going to need to find something to punch out and tap in the takedown lever and it can take a bit of jiggling to get everything in place, and personally I wouldn't be carrying anything with a fully cocked striker without a good bit of function checking first.
I said plausible, but I doubt very many people are actually swapping slides and that's completely tool free and a no-brainer.
Add in that you want to practice with your carry gun anyway and it's just not a consideration, especially with plastic guns being so cheap.

tbf I also thought P320s were like $599 until recently, it's pretty surprising how cheap the basic ones are.

It has the option of a safety, metal trigger, metal sights, full rail, and probably doesn't jam when you shoot while moving. I'll take any chance over a Glock at this point, they can't be trusted.

    >Hold Glock -- feels like a piece of shit, unergonomic toy
    >Hold Sig -- feels like masterrace quality
Simple. A few hundred bucks is chump change to what you will spend in ammo and range time anyway. Might as well get the superior pistol to start.

      >Might as well get the superior pistol to start
Well yes, but we're talking about utilitarian plastic crap here, not good guns. That's just not on the table, you either get a Glock or a """"US made""" SIG-Sauer.

siggers are just new gun owners that bought on impulse. No one who has been around a while has any interest in sig outside of their legacy guns.

Truth. Hell, when people say “Sig” my mind doesn’t even consider Nu-Sig.

    >is more expensive than a glock
Not when one ends up replacing half of the Glock with aftermarket parts.

On the other hand, all plastic guns are inherently ugly. It's like complaining about the colour of your cordless drill.
