Does any combat footage of the Marder IFV exist aside from those videos of them getting hit by FPV drones?

We've had so much Bradley kino, i'm curious to see if the german IFV is pulling its weight.

It’s way too old to be used in an IFV role.

Garbage opinion. Its has decent armour, good mobility and a good gun. The only thing it is bad at is in dueling with modern armour but that should not be a problem in this conflict

        so where is it?

Yes it had amazing armor for an IFV in the early 1960s when it was designed but even the Bundeswehr knew it was outdated by the 1980s. Hence why the Marder 2 project existed in the first place.

yeah its basically the same vehicle like 1960 no upgrades were made.

It is protected against 30mm russian muniton and artillery shrapnell. And has pretty decent mineprotection in the basic version. The taliban needed to detonate 1 ton of explosives under one to kill the driver and give the rest of the crew and passangers a concussion at worst.

Literally the reason why we see the Bradley in action so much. Its ability to frick up tanks means they don't need to send a T-series or Leopard to babysit it unlike the CV-90 or Marder.

It wasnt the first attempt but no body can argue that the bradley is the best one out of its generation.

Vehicles like the Marder (among many other contemporary IFVs, including Soviet ones) gave them clues how to make it good and improve on the concept.

We learned from everyone else's mistakes. It doesn't hurt that the baseline M2 Bradley is 10-15 years younger than the Marder and BMP either.

        >Its has decent armour,
Armor* and it has barely adequate protection. What makes it in any way survivable is the crew being situated behind the power unit.
        >good mobility
As expected of an IFV. This isn't a feature-it's a minimum.
        >and a good gun. The only thing it is bad at is in dueling with modern armour but that should not be a problem in this conflict
20mm isn't as good as 25mm or 30mm for putting HE on infantry or sabot into armor. As for their launcher system- did Marders ever get away from the outdated MILAN system? I genuinely don't know.

You’re a fricking moron. An automatic 20mm cannon is incredibly effective against infantry. I smell a 40mm cuck

            >I smell a 40mm cuck
No. 40mm is too large, too heavy, and doesn't have enough ammo. 25 and 30mm are the sweet spot.

Well there we can agree. Still 20 is great at anti infantry

20mm is great at anything that isnt an mbt or heavy ifv. The BMPs sides are only rated for 14.5mm and most of the passengers sit on top anyway

20mm HE is a fricking firecracker, do you think they're aiming for direct hits on infantry?

20mm HE kills infantry without achieving direct hits. Always has. It’s very effective as an anti infantry weapon

Armor and armour are interchangable and armour is the proper spelling if you want to be pedantic or are saying masheen instead of maschine aswell?

          >barely adequate armor
is still better than what soviet or russian ifv offer. Its the defenition of good enough

Good mobility is the bare minimum of a good ifv yes but having it puts its in the top 5% of ifvs used in the current conflict. Just look at bmps bumping around and getting turned into fireballs by the smallest of things the Marder can go where the BMP series cant which makes it good.

          >20mm isnt as good...
never claimed it was as good. It is still fricking great against infantry and lightly armoured vehicles like russians apcs and ifvs especially at 1000+rounds per minute

It somehow manages to be better than the warrior which didn’t enter revive for 20 years after the marder. I disagree with I think it can still perform IFV duties. The gun may be unstabilized but god damn if it doesn’t carry 2000 rounds for the main gun

Anon, BMP-1s are used in this war unironically.
      The Marder is massively overqualified.

We don't see combat footage because the German government is gay and hates fun.

The slavs like the chadley as a light tank with only a driver and gunner. Why do the other slavs not use the BMP3 this way?

because the bmp 3 is a piece of shit. It has paper armour and the gun cant hit shit past a few hundred meters

There are only very few of either in Ukraine compared to Soviet vehicles they're mostly using. Ukes only have maybe 100 Leopards 2 of different variants and even fewer operation ones. Similarly Marders are quite few in number. While Bradleys are limited as well they're such an effective fighting vehicle Ukes throw them into every hot zone. The US can also replace lost vehicles much quicker than Germany.

I suspect the Marders are largely in reserve or second line units. The frontline units seem to prefer the Bradley over anything else.

It helps that all the footage of the Gepard has been them using it defensively. It's hard for anyone to object to the Ukrainians shooting down drones aimed at cities

The relative lack of footage might be because of which unit wound up getting the Marders. The Bradleys went to the 47th, which has been on some of the hottest parts of the frontline since summer 2023 and is quite media savvy to boot.
