    >small unit tactics
Small unit tactics with who? Teenagers and fat morons? No. There is absolutely 0 value in that if you're thinking of using that "training" to oppose a tyrannical government or adversary who has invaded your home land. Instead of spending money and time training with individuals with 0 knowledge of strategical tactics, make a day out of a training course with somebody with genuine combat experience. Hope that helps.

for shooting airsoft has zero value. its useful for communication and movement but that could be equally done with empty guns or blue rubber dummies. it also depends on who you are playing with. the biggest pro about airsoft is you pay to run around in urban/forest environments without getting the cops called on you. it likes you test gear loadouts. see whats needed and what hangs up on everything and needs to go or be moved.

If a competitive airsoft team with 10 years experience fought a real gun battle against people with the same equipment, same fitness level, same education, same race, same IQ, etc but 0 real combat or airsoft experience (or similar games) do you really think they'd have an equal chance of winning?

so basically the heiarchy of battle prowess is
      Normies < Airsofters < Autistic larpers < Military/cops < special forces guys

How the frick is military and cops in same category? Autiatic larpers would shit on most cops and Id reckon most airaofters would too so long as they have some experiwnce shooting a gun

People are significantly more ballsy and aggressive while playing airsoft than in actual combat because they stakes are lower.

All depends on how you do it.

Competitive airsoft and paintball teach you some things about how to communicate and move and take advantage of lines of sight.

But you're talking like 100-150 feet max range. This makes things extremely different. It's also different when you're trying to get a few matches in a given sex of time, rather than having all day to run a scenario.

The Army uses lasers instead and blanks. You also get some black powder artillery sims or IED sims. The main benefit of this is the range and the ability to fire on enemy positions while mounted.

You still need the CO running the lane to run out and tell you X or Y is destroyed from mortars.

But the thing that makes us much more realistic is that you use a whole day for a sim. For example, a lane I ran was about recon on an airfield held by the enemy followed by a push to seize it. Recon would last all day if the CO took their time like they should have, although we did have some guys get spotted and make contact.

Then they would practice riding in to take the field mounted up, call in some indirect fire, which there were sims for.

Good for correcting total dumbass moves. Like one guy wanted to attack the field during the day, despite the fact that the opfor don't have night vision, and another guy got flustered driving with NVG on and had people turn their headlights on to move forward, turning them into instant mortar magnets.

Airsoft is generally in small arenas and so no one takes their time like this.

That's the huge difference. Then again, it's not like guys who are 60lbs overweight who can't run a mile or do a pull up who shoot at range targets are really doing anything that would prepare them for combat either. The whole Boog LARP scene is dumb all around.

And no one is going to pay for more realistic sims like the military does because they are fricking boring. 12-18 hours of mostly sitting getting bit by mosquitoes.

    >no artillery
    >no command structure
    >low fps ammunition
    >almost no lmg's
    >grenades hardly ever used
    >no indirect fire
    >focus is flashpoint engagements rather than the real business of soldiering
    >no armor
    there is no relationship

It's just a game. I mean, you COULD use it to train movement, but you might as well use any other props for that.

figuring out what mag pouches are shit and that 2-3 fast mags are enough
figuring out costa bullshit is non sense anywhere outside a gun range

For CQB? I can see the utility as the performance characteristics of airsoft doesn't influence the tactics involved thanks to the close distance.

For anything else however, the limited range generally means any and all practiced engagements basically have to be point blank which limits any kind of training in small unit tactics.

Even Nerf can be used to practice small unit tactics. All that matters is how competent your trainer is.

No, because EVERYONE cheats. Paintball is good for close quarters because you can't hide a broken ball strike.
