no but reform type schools exist like this. The US military and Chineez currently have a fat camp on YouTube and they are all highschool kids. The chinese one is way more hilarious than the US one 'you lack a disciprine and shamefu, climb this obstacle fatty'

JROTC is a voluntary program. Gives kids an idea what the military is like. Only weirdos that have no chance in the real military join it though

Military schools exist and are an option, but most people dont use it. More so in certain parts of the country ie the south east.

JROTC was optional at my school, but in order to not take it i had to take an alternative class which was exactly the same but without uniforms. We had to stand at attention, yell "huuuuuah" together etc. Mariner high school, lee county, florida

Nowadays, generally no. Some jurisdictions ban it here. Where it is allowed, a lot of school districts simply elect not to have it. I know in my state there are a whole five schools that offer JROTC.

Decades ago, JROTC was a very common elective in high school. I remember it being offered, and my wife took it for fun.

I LOVED this movie as a kid. I thought the scene where he eats the food really fast and tells a story of the train and scars the kid.

    Good movie.

Most white kids who are nerds but still like to be physically fit, join JROTC.Its voluntary, but will set you up good to get into college ROTC, after which you can be an officer in the armed forces. Each high school in America has a branch assigned to that school. For example, my school has Army JROTC, but the school across town had Navy, some have air force. I dont think Marine JROTC exists yet. If you just do high school JROTC and join the military, youll get busted up to E-2 or E-3 at least. The same goes with Boy Scout/Eagle Scouts.

And on top of that, we would have military recruiters and vets come to school and show us them blowing shit up in those thermal optics footage. This was during the heat of the Iraq War. I remember the recruiters and kids bonding over all the blown up shit. Kids are easy.

The Marines aren't a branch of the military, they're a department of the Navy

Yes. Captain Obvious . Thank you. thats common knowledge. My point was i find it weird there is no Marine JROTC. Marine is part of the Navy during peacetime, but if you consider we havent been at peace since.........fill in the blank.

Marines used to have a 3 month summer camp in the 60- 70 for 12 -18 that was like boot camp. It was great
The courts used to give it to trouble making kids in place of jail , those kids were sorry the didn’t take jail instead lol
