diy phone

Basically PrepHole, I'm sick of my corporate tracking rectangle. I have developed my own IO system that won't require my future "phone" to ever leave my pocket. Therefore, I plan to power it with a generous amount of 18650s.

>Is there some way I can make the batteries hotswappable? Perhaps with a large capacitor?
Most importantly:
>Are there any SBCs or HATs or dongles that allow standard phone connectivity (4G data, SMS, calls, GPS, and NFC) in a way that would be natively compatible with an SBC running Android?
>I'm not too worried about the compatibility of USB cameras and WiFi/BT dongles, but should I be?

For your purposes, why not buy an old Samsung for example and install an open source OS?

      Develop your own tower system

      wrong board freetard
      Wrong board

on a serious note, just go be Amish, you dont NEED a phone

Actually, you do need a phone. You need to be able to call a bank, a hospital, a pharmacy, etc. A lot of people do not want or need a smartphone.

    Some friendly suggestings for posting:
    - First ask Google, then ask PrepHole. Your question will probably be better received if you do so.
    - List available resources (tools, materials, budget, time, etc.)
    - Try to use pictures and explain the goal, if possible
    - Be patient, this is a slow board; your thread will be around for days.
    - Share your results! PrepHole loves to see problems solved and projects completed!

Aside from that, yeah you can just buy a Simcom SIM7600 module and hook it up to whatever SBC you want.
There's already a ton of people who have done this to make "their own phone" but if you think you're going to be an elite hacker man and avoid government surveillance, then you're probably naive.

    Google it.

I am aware of the SIM 6/7/8 000(0)s, and, after thorough research, have found examples of manual control only. I specifically asked about Android nativity (ie, working with the stock phone/message apps) because if it doesn't already exist, I would rather put my effort into developing a proxy solution. Your comment is funny to me

    >power it with a generous amount of 18650s.
Done that. I made a pack using 5 18650s for my Samsung galaxy s5. It did not work well, the phone considers the battery dead at 3.5v while 18650s are supposed to go to 3.0
It also didn't last long physically, the battery fatigued and some cells broke away after just 5 months. This could probably be fixed by making it even thicker as my setup was just the cells in heat shrink wrap stuck down to the back of the phone

Why use 18650s instead a smaller lipo that will fit in your phone?

Because it was supposed to be 17,000mah
Due to the way the phone charger works it was more like 6000mah.
Using lipo is much better because it is similar to the cell the phone is meant to use.
I think ideally prismatic cells would be best
