I hope this clown war causes Russia to end up so completely destitute they end up not a Chinese, but a North Korean vassal state. Because that would be funny.

Are you suicidal or something? If they become a vassal North Korea might eventually annex them and then they'd share a border with Finland again. Do you want the Hyperwar to flare back up?

Girkin and his merry band of glowies seized Ukrainian weapons from warehouses. That's where the meme that the clearly Russian equipment sent to separatists was all Ukrainian surplus comes from.

              [...]

              >the gas will flow again
Yes, from Ukraine's own reserves. Besides Russian imperialism, that was the main reason for the war: Russia was afraid of being replaced or side lined by Ukraine being closer to the EU, so they've been sabotaging them for decades until the invasion.
              >who's gonna be feed to the russians next time.
It's hilarious that shills like you stil pretend that Russia is a strong country that must be feared. They can't even conquer their own poorer and smaller neighbour, they don't have force projection. They've been only are able to bully defenceless countries and they only won Chechnya by bribing one warlord to betray the others (and they've been paying tribute to the Kadyrovs since then, lol)

            >Are 40+ year old shells and missiles usable?

            Depends greatly on storage conditions.
Simple things like shells and small arms ammo last much longer than that given proper storage (I've shot WWII surplus 8x57mm fine).
Things like missiles with batteries and electronics generally need to be inspected and refurbished at regular intervals.

Up until 2014 Ukraine sold large amounts of their arms stockpiles (much of the rest blew up in colossal depot explosions) and almost all new production - BTR-4, T-84 Oplot was export only.

This war only cemented the fact that all countries need nuclear weapons to guarantee security and sovereignty.

Ukraine gave up their nukes and despite all of the treaties signed they mostly rely on handouts.

If Ukraine had nukes, Russia wouldn't even dare to invade them.

Haves and have nots, thirdies and secondies all need to start building nukes especially those who feel threatened by any regional hegemon.

This. We often hear that preserving nuclear non-proliferation is a reason to back Ukraine, and while I take Ukraine's side here, NNP is already fricking dead. Regardless of how this war ends, Ukraine will still have come out of it with a shitload of dead people who'd still be alive if they had something that could have credibly deterred Russia in the first place... like nukes. Nukes aren't super-hard to make anymore, even shitholes like India and Pakistan can pull it off. So we can expect basically any country bordering Russia and/or China to be looking into it, for a start.

He's an old fart. I think he's probably (consciously or subconsciously) influenced by the idea that nukes are something which only great powers CAN create.

moron we developed a functional nuke during the 60s when we were amongst the lowest in the world stage and maintaining a nuke is not a easy task either, you need number scientist, resources and infrastructure which causes billions of dollars a year and when it comes to ukraine they were trying to sell their nuke to some thirdie dictator in African(Sudan i guess),lmaoo NATO and Russian were planning a joint invasions to ukraine at the time due to how moronic their nuclear policy were but the invasion was halted when they promised to hand over remaining to back to russia.

            Yet Pakistan managed it.
Lots of countries that Russia and China would have liked to invade down the line will consider the resources and money poured in a worthwhile sacrifice. Sucks to suck.

Because they had billions pumped into their government during the Cold War. Developing and maintaining nuclear weapons is ridiculously expensive.

Building one is easy, it's actually the first thing they teach in university.

It's the delivery systems and acquiring materials (uranium and plutonium) are the hardest to acquire since they're actually heavily regulated by international bodies and no African country would risk damaging business because some warlord or corrupt despot wanted part of the action too.

You need 140+ IQ people to develop ballistic missiles.

it doesn't matter when Russia has already tried to blackmail the EU over it. That era is over and is not coming back. The EU has moved on
    > Why on Earth would they fight tooth and nail against every and each NATO expansion?
Because in the 90s the West still believed in a friendly relationship with Russia build upon mutually beneficial commerce to avoid going back to a Cold War and to balance their increasing reliance in China's manufacturing. They also saw eastern euros as poor, powerless, and seething problematic nobodies.
Yeah, eastern euros were right about Russia being recividist imperialists, but the West wasn't wrong about trying, only about not realizing it sooner. The US going full moron in 2003 and fricking up the ME also made the EU double down in seeking alternatives to the americans.
