Despite what?

Despite what /k/ thinks or believe, Western is not always superior to Slavshit equivalents.

For example, when it comes to main battle tanks, at the moment Australian M1A1 and Sing/Indon Leopard are the bottom of the barrel in the Southeast Asia region. Malaysian PT-91M Pendekar, Viet T-90S, and Thai Oplot/VT-4 are superior to monkey model Abrams without DU armor (same as what Arab c**ts like the Saudis, Egypt and Iraq use which have been lost in great numbers) Leopard 2A4 with body kit.

The Malaysian version of PT-91 are more different than Polish one and have included some pretty extensive upgrade possibly makes it among the most capable T-72 variant available. Instead on using a standard one, they following the Malaysian design by mix and match various East and West equipment like M2HB HMG, Germany tank tracks, Malaysian spectral camouflage system and Polish ERAWA ERA.

>French SAGEM gyroscoptic SAVAN-15 Fire Control System, similar to that used on the Leclerc
>EADS 3-axis gun stabilizer coupled with the ability to shoot GL-ATGM
>Belgian FN Mag + M2 HMG
>SS1C "Obra" laser warning receiver
>PM Dezamet 84mm Grenade Launcher
>Slovakian 2A46MS gun, 20% better accuracy than basic 2A46
>Malaysian thermal camouflage optronic system

and last but not least,Malaysia army has integrated network-centric operation via MEASAT 3B communication satellite that have 4x X-band transponder for military usage , so PT-91M have higher situational awareness than Australian M1A1.

For about half the price of an Abrams those modernized PT-91M is good to at least stand toe to toe with M1A2 SEPv3/Leopard 2A7

If it has a carousel loader shill, it’ll still get penned by any western anti-tank, one shot and be a burning coffin and another entry in the turret toss competition.

Despite the fact that Malaysia is a larger and more strategically important country when it comes to countering the PRC in the South China Sea, the US ... has chosen to favor Singapore diplomatically and arm it with latest equipment like F-35 and HIMARS and give them basing rights in Guam. Malaysian have seen how the mighty American have to kneel before their economy "partner" the Singaporean lobby and prevent sales of advanced equipment to Malaysia like AMRAAM etc. While Malaysia's armed forces facing budgetary constraints and have not been able to take delivery of Littoral Combat Ships ordered 10 years ago and are still unfinished. Yet US only provides token assistance to Malaysia such as donating maritime surveillance radar and MPAs. Just because Malaysia in the past adopted a principled neutral stance and refuse to support illegal US war in Iraq, Israeli occupation of Palestine and condemn Russian war in Ukraine.

Ironically, Singapore are nothing but a Chinese b***h . Just another Chinese province. Don't agree? Just look at who in charge of Singapore Armed Forces. It is only a matter of time before Singapore delivers complete example of the F-35 to China.

Visual difference between PT-91 and PT-91M showing redesigned turret with ammo bustle and blowoff panel, better ERA and third gen thermal +CITV). Even when compared to base M1A1, Malaysian PT-91 has better transmission and better guns. M1 could fire more powerful APFSDS but PT-91M has more accurate first shot and ability to auto track the target.

Not to mention thermal camouflage netting was invented in Malaysia as "Multi-Spectral Camouflage System". Pretty ingenuous to be licensed and copied by German Leopard.

The PT91M tank is indeed based on the T72 Tank...... but only on the body....... while all other important parts such as engines, transmissions, gunnery, weapon system technology, turret and ammunition, chains, thermal sighting technology, communication systems, fire systems, tank defense systems, electronic systems and devices, scouting systems, hydraulic systems, battlefield systems management, tank maintenance systems, fire control systems, gun stabilizer systems, optronic systems and others are the most sophisticated and up-to-date ones used by modern tank equivalent to leclerc, leopard, T-90MS.....

other details of the data I can't mention here it's a secret in the ATM itself...... a lot of adjustments have been made to the PT91M tank........ This PT91M tank is far more specific than Poland's own PT91 Twardy..........only the body is the same... ……the other systems are on par with Leopard 2A6 belongs to Germany and T-90MS belongs to Russia...... that's why the price is very expensive....

One x PT91M can easily destroy 4 x Leopard 2A4 tanks belonging to neighboring Indonesia.... ......the only missing technology is the GPS shell guided system technology which failed to be obtained from Russia due to pressure from the US.......if the PT91M is successfully paired with the system........ PT91M can be fired reaching up to a distance of 21km....... this ability is only owned by the Russian T-14 Armata tank for now....but what is currently available is already able to reach fire support of up to 12km...... not all modern tanks can reach this stage in this distance......and the 125mm gun on the PT91M tank can launch missiles for low-level air defense....... while the US modern Leopard 2A5 and Abram M1A3 don't have this ability..

This PT91M's firing ability is 9 rounds per minute......faster than the Leopard 2.......and the armor penetration stage is the best and the latest equivalent to those used by Russia today...... instead of the type of shell that was produced by Iraq during Saddam Hussein's time, during the Desert Storm operation, ....the penetrating power of this new shell is equivalent to Russia's ATGM ....

Poland itself can't afford to upgrade their PT-91 Twardy to the PT-91M owned by Malaysia because the cost is very expensive...... ..not because the Leopard 2A5 tank made in Germany is better ..... one PT-91M tank costs more than USD9 million......at this price Malaysia can buy more than 600 x pieces of second hand Leopard 2A4 made in Germany...

it should be known that Malaysia has been offered it by many countries that have this Leopard 2A4 tank....but all of them have been rejected by Malaysia because they are not in accordance with the climate in Malaysia.........many tanks have been tested by Malaysia before that.......US Abram M1A1 tank has not reached 2000km already broken track.... ..the Leopard 2A5 tank is good but it doesn't have an autoloader and weighs more than 65 tons so it doesn't suit the jungle climate in Malaysia and is often immersed in mud which is only suitable for urban warfare....

Keep in mind that the acquisition of this Malaysian MBT has taken a period of more than 10 years. very long.......because of the various stages and tests....and more than 10 models and builds of tanks have been successfully tested during that period....so there comes a time when the test is also carried out in one of the a country in the Middle East also to ensure the specifications can also work even though this PT-91M tank has never experienced in actual combat..... but ATM believes it because the PT-91M has gone through so many tests of its climatic suitability in various real weather fields........ then definitely not inferior to Leopard 2A4 RI.........because the US threatened to buy T-90S from Russia........then PT-91 Twardy from Poland was finally forced to be chosen by Malaysia ........but Malaysia has set a condition so that all the capabilities of the PT-91 Twardy tank are raised to the level of or more than the Russian T-90S tank.....Russia itself after completing its test in Malaysia has upgraded their PT-90S tank to T-90M as a result of the experience of passing the test in the jungles of Malaysia........ PT-91M also has a system equivalent to Shtora 2 installed belongs to Russia........it's just that the design is not the same because I'm afraid it will be pressured by the US........but all systems work and the electronics are the same as the Russian Shtora 2........only on the outside the right and left sides of the tank on the turret look smaller than the ones installed on the Russian T-90MS tank...... ..deliberately so as not to appear that it belongs to Russia.......Sthora 2 system like this does not exist on the Polish PT-91 Twardy....... This Shtora 2 system has been installed by Malaysia later.... ......but that doesn't mean the ability is less than the Russian Shtora 2

This makes me wonder, how good would be Soviet/WarPac equipments if they are updated and upgraded by the West? I heard Malaysian PT-91 is unironically the best T-72 variant out there simply because it's upgraded with Western tech.

t-90 use french electronics. Besides 91s are still stuck in the early 2000s unlike 90m and 72obr16

Oh yeah, latest Russian tanks are highly dependent on Western electronics. Still, can the West do a better job?

At the moment the PT-91M is the most advanced T-72 variant in service. As I pointed out earlier, the PT-91M operated by a well trained crew, exploiting the terrain, with the right ammo, is more than capable of taking out a heavier, more protected western MBT.

Malaysian ground forces employ ambush tactics in the face of any enemy armored assault. Our geography allows us a great advantage when it comes to such tactics. There are several stories of whereby a skilled tank commander can defeat a better-equipped enemy such as an incident whereby an Abrams commander failed to detect an Iraqi T-72 that was firing at his tank.

The encounter took place at night at an engagement range of several kilometres. A column of US army tanks were attacked by an enemy which remain undetected. The sophisticated electronics of the M1 Abrams did not manage to detect the whereabouts of the T-72 as it had shut-off it's engine and therefore had no heat signature. The T-72 was finally destroyed after the electronics managed to detect the faint heat signature of its gun barrel after it had fired several times.
