Deal with it doughnuts

What is the tactical advantage of covering your aircraft with long burning, difficult to extinguish, tires? Also how does this play with all the NOT A STEP warnings you generally see on aircraft?

Imagine constantly moving all these tires back and forth. Literally too much time and effort, and for what exactly?

      >magine constantly moving all these tires back and forth. Literally too much time and effort, and for what exactly?
Russia has a ton of conscripts (not mobiks) what can be assigned to any task in Russia (and cannot be sent abroad by law and for political reasons). Those airports are in Russia. So moving all those tires may be the job of conscripts.
Not sure if conscripts will be smart enough to notice all the "do not step" signs though.

No they don't lmao. This is just the result of the commander saying "do something about the drone attacks", without having any materials or doctrine or initiative to work with. So the retarded idea gets implemented so that he can check the box that "preventative action was taken". Either that, or the commander's cousin runs an auto shop and just sold all of his spare tires to the air base for 4x markup.

How? The tires have giant holes in them that heat from the aircraft can radiate through. Anyone with decent thermals will still see the thermal silhouette of an aircraft. Just swiss cheesed with lotsa tiny black fruit loops.

This only works if US spy sats that observe Russian Airbases have crappy thermal optics. And that CIA glowies don't meticulously examine all thermal signatures originating from places where the VKS typically parks strategic bombers.

you realise it wouldn't right? rubber isn't conductive like metal, but they're *black* and will absorb as much heat over the course of the day as the plane will, and then will *retain* the heat instead of conducting it away, making the plane visible for longer into the dark, *right*?

It's to try and shield the plane from shrapnel because the Russian Airforce is only allowed to construct sandbag fortifications and hangars when Russia is at war, which they have still yet to declare for retarded political reasons.

    >Also how does this play with all the NOT A STEP warnings
Russians can't in to composites so there are probably minimal NO STEP areas on their jets and tyres lying on their side don't exert as much pressure as a human foot so are unlikely to punch through the aircraft's skin anyway (which is what NO STEP areas are usually about)

      Anonymous

No step warnings is generally a warning to be careful but those areas can usually still take a mans weight.
They are there because there are other areas to step on that doesnt wear down as fast and isnt as expensive to replace if you step on them every day.

Then again, it woulnd suprise me if Russians built their aircraft out of cardboard at this point.
