idk this 2-4 db reduction doesn't seem worth dumping gas back into the magazine its loading from

If that 2-4 gets you below 140 at the ear its definitely good, but I wouldn't bother if it was a duty carbine, the fouling to the magazine seems like a point if failure to me.
Maybe more acceptable for a more precision oriented rifle.

Consider that each cartridge gets gas only from 1-2 shots and each magazine only 30 shots. I don't think that fouling is a significant issue.

It is if youre using your mags over and over again like a normal person, the fouling is bad enough with a normal BCG supressed that you should get a mag brush anyway, this will make it even worse.

Oh yeah I didn't consider that. I guess you'll have to disassemble and clean your mags once in a while.

I wonder what the fouling threshold is before it makes more sense to have mesh mag baseplates

Its not that bad really, but you just need to be more cognizant that your mags will need more maintenance, I certainly wouldnt try a mesh baseplate, sand and dirt is way worse than carbon fouling.

          a 3 decibel reduction is a 50% reduction

In sound pressure, the human ear tends to equate things being half or twice as loud with a ~9dB change.

Why the fuck can’t the decibel system just be linear?

              Anonymous

because we don't perceive loudness linearly

That's sound energy not perceived sound. Perceived sound is 10Db to have the sound

My only concern is the cam pin now having more gas vented in its path where it usually mostly exits the receiver

seems to be fine... I'll get one to replace my bootleg ABCG and report back with an anon review.
KAK is on reddit nfa right now answering questions about it. Seems to work, but these things are sometimes tacticoolbait

    >Even more shit getting dumped back into the mag/magwell while suppressed
    Awesome!

My 92fs shits up the mags when suppressed with filth, I can't imagine what an AR that's focusing the shit into the mag will do. Guess you better use anti friction coated mags.

    >vent carbon fouling directly onto magazine
    >ingress sand to it by compromising the carrier runner seal for good measure

      Awesome!

"I bought 2 of these on the 4th of July sale. I’ve run the K-SPEC in an MK18 and 16” BCM… HUGE reduction in gas to face. H3 buffer and green Sprinco in both. I’ve got over 2k rounds on these and the amount of carbon that reaches the brass, mags, and fire control group is no worse than what you encounter shooting suppressed. Single biggest improvement while tuning my BCM for sure. Don’t knock it until you try it. Especially if you are left handed."

so extremely bad then, with almost no benefit? what if you’re also shooting suppressed?

I've bought a couple flash hiders from KAK but that's it, no idea how their BCG's are. Their flash hiders are nice though, they're at least competent at machining.

200 for a bcg is cheap. most good ones are 300-500

Not very convincing for a KAK employee.

Since I live in a no canz state this is probably going to be the next best thing for me, assuming I'd even want to buy this in the first place.

24” AR + this would be relatively quiet (for an AR) ngl. The AR is already a quiet platform; it’s like 16dB quieter than a sig 500 series
