Cool. Getting an established company to pick them up is what they should have done to begin with, its a shame they failed but they clearly bit off more than they could chew.

Ah frick. Used to be actually reasonably priced for an American import this side of the pond, now it's going to be twice that

It does look like a pistol.

I'd go as far as to say it looks good, better than the original H9

The rumors are true. It is indeed a pistol.

Still a bit pricey, but I expected this thing to be $2K+.

Itll street price lower I bet.

So maybe 1100 on a good day a few years from now after excitement has cooled. Maybe they'll put out spare parts too, the KE Arms parts are too pricey. Not that DD has a rep for the opposite I guess.

Hudson H9 MSRP was $1,148 6 years ago, so for an improved working product with a warranty at virtually the same price despite 2+4 years of Bidenflation, that's pretty rad.

      >$1300
Also better than I thought but still absolutely israeli pricing. This garbage will only burn money for DD. What the hell were they thinking?

Not a fan of the optic plate system and the pic rail. Other one was more Aesthetic. I'm glad its sorta back.

Optics plate systems always look like shit but I find the H9 nicer looking with a rail.

Without a light the old gun looked better, but with a light it looked goofy and snaggy as frick. If you’re used to your light controls being right in front of the tigger guard, it sucks when its below the trigger guard and forward. Just awkward. This one looks like you could mount some lights with a smooth transition from light housing to trigger guard for a snag free experience.

True, I think part of what I liked about the original was that it looked clean and I never had intentions of running it with a light (or optic). Sorta just enjoying it as it is, like a 1911. The lines just sorta work on it, yknow. I'd have to see what this one looks like with a TL7A or an X300.
But still just doesn't look as classy imho

They ruined the aesthetics. Just like what they did to the Jericho.

is it really the same gun? I heard it shares a single part, and kinda looks different.

God damnit they didn't keep it in line with the trigger guard. Frickin ruined the aesthetics of it

Major design changes are the takedown lever changed from Sig to Glock style, the barrel lockup was completely changed to a Sig style ramp to the point that the guide rod clicks into the barrel/slide like any other handgun, they shortened the grip and magazine by 1/2" while keeping capacity which is great, and got rid of the extra low Hudson recoil spring and Habsburg dust cover. I sincerely hope they completely redesigned the stupid self-destroying striker mechanism as well, but at least one video said POI is still low which was a hallmark of the old H9 so that doesn't bode well.

The magic is kind of spoiled since it's almost an entirely different gun. There's something off about the styling too, it's not as slick as the Hudson but I can't put my finger on it. I like the practical design changes but it lost most of the quirky, slick specialness of the Hudson. I hope it sticks around and I hope they do a long slide threaded version. Preferably in blue anodizing 🙂

I like how the DD H9 looks more tbh.

Really would like to see them release a no-rail version with the lowered recoil spring chamber, like your blue one, for aesthetic buyers.

Neat. I thought the originals were an interesting idea, felt kind bad how they basically shit the bed from the get-go and folded almost immediately. This one looks less aesthetically pleasing to me, but at the same time comfier to actually shoot. Curious what kind of mags it uses

      >Curious what kind of mags it uses
Proprietary. Same body as the Hudson but a bit shorter. Hudson mags will fit. Hudson mags were a modified SW 5900 design, so nothing else is likely going to fit in there

Huh. I knew about the original using older S&W mags, but the baseplate in the picture on the new one looked different so I thought maybe they changed it.

if they have an additional external safety like the Hudson and it keeps the same cutout I'd appreciate it. Also the mag release in mine isnt quite ambi-capable in that it really doesnt work swapped around. I would like to see what the sight cuts are since mine shoots low like everyone elses.

Not a fan of the new frame, its a bit too skinny, like a Hudson and a Steyr or 5.7 had a baby. What would be cool if only for aesthetics is a flush fit laser+rail weights to make it flush with the trigger guard or something. Or even one of those guide rod lasers.

I entirely bought it because of the looks so yeah if you are gonna make one you need to lean into that and do something to make that specific type of person get one, weights especially would really min-max it into low axis flip.

Might pick one up for the hell of it since I shot 3 mags through my original, decided to just keep it a safe queen, and go back to my CZ for carry instead. Never liked that slightly creaky pull right before the break when I was doing some range softcore foreplay instead of just pulling it, hope we get some cool aftermarket options though I did consider trying to polish myself.

I wish I'd gotten a non-auto as well. The clip broke and the tip is chipped and I dont know if they can make a new blade, their help desk just tells me to send it back.

Sadly I stopped being a cringey metalhead even though I still carry a large pocket knife. Paid way too damn much but got a Microtech Socom Bravo (Made by Rike) last year, it looks really professional and slick which gets me way more of a corporate/business casual pass. Ball bearing pivots are nice and you can flick it open and close 1 handed with barely any practice. Just something so if I go out of state I can still pocket carry something that won't get me arrested.
