csgo m4a1

Hello. I'm here to collect your thoughts and opinions on making a 99% clone of the csgo m4a1-s (pictured). The only thing missing would be the brass deflector.

I currently have a Harrington and Richardson 723 carbine.

https://palmettostatearmory.com/harrington-richardson-723-style-carbine-5-56mm-rifle-black.html

I plan on changing the stock pencil 14.7'' barrel into a m4 profile 14.5" barrel and pin and welding a rugged R3 7.62 flash hider to make it 16 inches. Probably gonna use a rugged 556 suppressor.

I'm posting this because I just want to collect your thoughts / opinions before I do anything stupid. Thank you

CS2 is about to release, does the model change much? Regardless, I think this is cool, CS:GO is based and has certainly been a favorite of mine partly because of my gun autism.

OP here. Thanks for the comments so far. I forgot to ask 1 important question. If I do end up doing this, will I have problems NOT using a brass deflector on the upper while shooting suppressed? Thanks again

I would think that it's the opposite. Brass coming back and hitting you happens if the gun is undergassed, if it's overgassed (like with a suppressor) it's gonna fly forward.
You can change which angle the brass comes out by changing buffer weight as well. You might consider one of those extra heavy buffers if you don't want the brass getting flung too far.

lack of brass deflector only matters if you're left handed. with suppressor the brass will yeet out at 3 o'clock, if not even further forward.

get a B&T Rotex X suppressor that mounts off the A2 birdcage. that's clone correct. no brass deflector without adjustable gas is cock and ball torture. have fun

You getting a suppressor to go along with it?

14.5s with carbine gas systems are probably not great to suppress. I wouldn't do it, but you do you, booboo

It will look different but OP could always get a newer low resistance "flow through" style suppressor.

I don't think I've heard of flow-through suppressors before. Checking them out now, it's an interesting idea. I wonder how much blowback it actually relieves.

Hello OP here again. Thank you for all your replies. I am a right hand shooter so I guess the brass deflector won't be a big deal. I do plan on putting in a heavier buffer weight and spring. I was thinking about using the Rugged Razor 556. The suppressor doesn't have to be clone correct. Just the rest of the gun (except the brass deflector)

"14.5s with carbine gas systems are probably not great to suppress. I wouldn't do it, but you do you, booboo" Why? please explain I am noob

Not the same guy, but having a shorter barrel lowers the amount of time a bullet has to build up pressure in the barrel, resulting in much more blast and unturned powder coming out the end. Standard (non flow through) suppressors increase the amount of gas that gets put back into the system. The ar15 dumps that gas right on top of the chamber, so using a suppressor on a short barrel can lead to many different problems.

Suppressor is a Griffin Armaments M4SD in case you were interested. Earlier models didn’t have the ribbed for her pleasure texture.

it's a c7 upper receiver. it has the A1 carry handle and the brass deflector. if you don't have that specific upper receiver it's not a CSGO m4a1-s clone, it's a more realistic clone.
Brownells makes one but it's OOS and sells out incredibly fast.
I'm going to sell one on reddit soon.
    keep an eye peeled.

yeah, took me a year of searching for a seller and $700 to get it.
worth it in the end for my dream build. all colt parts for the upper. it's actually based off the CS2 m4a4

Why mess with the barrel length?
CSGO's M4a4 barrel is 14.5 inches, and disregarding the suppressor and flash hider the M4a1's barrel is slightly longer.

are you fucking retarded? you've never played CSGO have you? the M4a4 is 10.3 inches + MD, the m4a1-s uses a 14.5 inch barrel +QD MD and a silencer.
I've spent a lot of time autistically measuring the details because I love CSGO clone builds.
don't believe me? take a screenshot of the m4a1-s model from the straight side and a picture of an m4a1 with a 14.5 barrel and carbine length gas system, then overlay one on top of the other and scale them to the same size. the barrel fits.

My current gun is 14.7. Since I plan on replacing the barrel to the m4 profile, I figured I go with 14.5 since its more common than 14.7. Looking at the pictures of the csgo m4a1s, I assumed it was a 14.5. Is the gun longer?

14.7 exists so you can pin a standard A2 flash hider to it and not have an SBR, but they look basically the same

I was going to pin a Rugged R3 Flash Mitigation System – 7.62 to the 14.5 inch barrel. Rugged recommend the 7.62 for a 14.5 556 barrel. If I go with the Surefire suppressor, I'll get the Surefire quick detach flash hider.

flash hiders aren't interchangeable between 5.56 and 7.62
            5.56 barrels have 1/2-28 threads, 7.62 barrels are 5/8-24
that recommendation is for the suppressor, not the flash hider

Just buy a C7 upper and m4 barrel from brownells and slap it on whatever lower you can get.

Seeing as how CSGO is literally Israel vs Palestine in all the dust maps...

What the creators tried to replicate in their "m4" rifle was simply an Israeli type AR. Although the Israelis eventually did start using actual m4s, they for a long time were using modified m16s with the barrels chopped down due to wear and to shorten the rifle.

You want to know more about Israeli m16s, you can read some about it here:

Wait, you want to pin and weld a 7.62 flash hider onto an ar15? And you intend to attach a 556 suppressor to it? What the hell are you talking about? Do you know what numbers like 762 and 556 mean? Please let me know what I'm missing here

flash hiders aren't interchangeable between 5.56 and 7.62
      5.56 barrels have 1/2-28 threads, 7.62 barrels are 5/8-24
that recommendation is for the suppressor, not the flash hider

I originally planned on getting a 556 flash hider. But since its a 14.5 barrel, Rugged support said I should get the 7.62. In the email they also said the 7.62 should fit on the 556 barrel. And to make sure the 7.62 has a thread pitch of 1/2x28 to fit the 556 suppressor.

      This one. https://ruggedsuppressors.com/product/7-62-flash-hider-short-58x24/

After future research, I think I'm gonna get the muzzle break instead of a flash hider, but its the same concept.
