      >if you are israeli.
No. You need to either serve in a combat role in the military or have a good enough reason to have a gun(farmers, hunters, live close enough to an enemy country, etc...). a good friend of mine who served with me is a Christian and he got a handgun not too long ago.

I'm not surprised as I've read about their gun laws before, but it's still a bit shocking that israel isn't like a middle eastern Switzerland with massed armed citizenry, gun clubs, shooting culture etc. I guess there's a concern about an Israeli Arab 5th column.

          Anonymous

Yeah the gun laws are pretty cucked here. Some fellas (including the agency I work with) are waiting for the right moment to push a campaign to soften the requirements for a license and remove the moronic "one gun per person" limit.

          >it's still a bit shocking that Israel isn't like a middle eastern Switzerland with massed armed citizenry, gun clubs, shooting culture etc.
That's because despite the memes Israel is a de jure secular state where racial discrimination is technically illegal. That's why the majority of legal gun ownership there is tied to service in the IDF because if you're willing to serve in the army you're probably not going to commit a terrorist attack.

Israel also has moronic restrictions on ammo because they don't want loose rounds going to Palestinians. I'm fairly certain that even if you have a valid self-defense license you're still only allowed to keep 100 rounds or so in your home and the rest of your ammo has to be at a range or armory.

you need to look at the early decades off isreal.
It was very pro state control with a large socialist presence and active involvement by the commies.
The strong pro-US stance only really came about after the Yom Kipur war. A lot of Isreali political leaders grew up on communal kibuts farms.
The state simply wants control over firearms and if there weren't settlers living right next to angry arabs they'd have even less gun rights

It's weird to me that Russia allows traumatic handguns which can easily be lethal if they strike the head, neck, or heart but normal handguns are basically banned unless you're an active sports shooter and you can't really carry them. It's such a bizarre quirk of law. Like, a traumatic handguns are like 90% a handgun why not just legalize handguns?

      Anonymous

I think the idea is that trauma rounds have less penetrative power than a regular pistol, so they're useless against body armor. Like all anti-gun laws, it's for the government's benefit, not yours

People here saying US are moronic. Do you even realize how hard it is to legally permanently move to America? It’s close to impossible unless you have a shit ton of money, marry someone and stay with them or get a job that you can prove needs you as a foreigner and stay there for years. And those are just the requirements for applying.

      Anonymous

The easiest way is through lottery or finding a job that can sponsor you(which isn't as hard as you think). There are tons of easy to get into jobs that can offer sponsorship for a permanent residence.

        Anonymous

80% of sponsorships are basically slavery. They make you work 50+ hour weeks and if you refuse they can just kick you out and you have to leave the country. All of that for a minimum of 5 years before you can even apply. Not saying there aren’t decent companies but that’s the majority.

Nah, the easiest way is to just look for some construction job or even retail job that can offer a sponsorship. Those jobs are always looking for meat and saw loads of eastern euros applying for construction jobs here in the states.

Gun ownership and gun ownership for immigrants are two entirely different beasts. For example you can't just buy a rifle in Texas if you are on vacation.

How is their shooting culture tho? I know there is lots of access to cheap guns but it seems like it's mostly for tribal wars and shit. You don't really hear much about their hunting or sport shooting culture. When I see hunting videos from paki it suggests their hunting culture is a thousand times worse than the most hillbilly redneck shit you can think of l. I wouldn't want to be around such ppl for all the guns in the world.

you actually can buy a rifle (or anything else, for that matter) if you are visiting from a country that is in the visa waiver program (doesn't work if you need a regular visa).
the 4473 will be automatically denied, but if the FFL gets on the phone and there is no trace of you being a felon (no idea how far ATF reaches into criminal databases of other countries, if at all), it will be accepted
