You'd definitely be able to defend yourself from your self with that thing.

I recommend using something that won't move in an unpredictable way.

In the UK the force used in self defense must be "equal" so probably not. They need to have a weapon and you would need to be injured.
Reminder a man in the UK got a prison sentence because he used "excessive force" when he used a sword to defend himself against 3 pistol armed home invaders.

[x] doubt. Most of these cases I hear about involving people being convicted of a crime for defending themselves in other countries either didn't actually happen or involve behavior on the part of the defender that would get you charged with a crime in most US states (chasing people leaving the scene and shooting them in the back, executing people who are no longer a threat, etc.).

          >In R v Lindsay (2005) AER (D) 349, the defendant picked up a sword in self-defense when attacked in his home by three masked intruders armed with loaded handguns, and killed one of them by slashing him repeatedly with that sword. The prosecution case was that, although he had initially acted in self-defense, he had then lost his self-control and demonstrated a clear intent to kill the armed intruder. In fact, the defendant was himself a low-level cannabis dealer who kept the sword available to defend himself against other drug dealers. The Court of Appeal confirmed an eight-year term of imprisonment. In a non-criminal context, it would not be expected that ordinary householders who "go too far" when defending themselves against armed intruders would receive such a long sentence.

So he got pinched because he was a criminal already and may or may not have gone too far.

To be fair, he could deflect the bullets, then when they're out of bullets he would still have a working weapon while they wouldn't. It's a completely unfair match up. Maybe if it was 5v1 and they had full autos

Self defence needs to be equal to the threat in the UK.

Stab someone who assaults you? - illegal - unless something about the nature of the attack made it reasonable.

Stab/bludgeon someone who attacks you with weapon ? - legal

Someone attacks you on a bridge and during the defending yourself you accidentally push them off? - legal

Chase after someone who has just attacked you? -ilegal

    And so on.

Carrying a weapon for the purpose of self defence is illegal though.
