Could the West provide Ukraine is a bunch of shipping vessels that they then use to make a surprise landing with several divisions of special forces, trained to live off the land, in the Far East?

It seems like Russia would be totally unprepared for this. They could probably advance halfway down the Siberian Railroad and just hold there, cutting them off from their main revenue sources.

It would also probably kick off independence movements.

After months, when Russia finally gets it shit together, they might have indigenous allies, or barring that, they can blow all the gas rigs on the way out.

LOL, Alaska doesn't even pay off for the US. Russia would not even need to nuke Ukraine in reponse, winter would do the job and those soldiers would be wasted.

they'd be better off doing harassment raids on Kaliningrad and when russia seethes the EU would just go "ahhh jeez dude, sucks to hear man I am definitely going to help you put the perpetrators to justice"

Damn, this is a good idea. They could have a battalion "go rouge," while coming back from training in the West.

The West could shrug and say "we are not sending our forces to defend your clay Russia."

Russia can't supply it by air if it can't fly over NATO land. And so, they'd have a new piece of clay to bargain with.

You know all those threads with Americans making fun of Russians screeching about Alaska and detailing all of the horrible things that would happen to any Russian invasion force? Your scenario would be the same thing from the opposite side.

Didn't a Czech legion have to march to the Pacific when they got caught on the wrong side of the 1917 Russian Revolution / Civil War? I read about something like that as a footnote in one of the Stalin bios.
And anyway Moscow's protocol for Far East aggression is "nukes first" as they can't really project power adequately in that direction at the same scale as the neighbors. Those 60s border skirmishes with Mao *allegedly* almost went nuclear and that was just over a stupid river island.

They did not march, they had a fucking train and they were advancing across the milder Siberian terrain. Kamchatka is frozen hell and one of the worst places to be in Russia. Magadan is located next to Kamchatka and it's a place so awful that its labour camps became a legend in the USSR and every single Russian knows this place
