Could 1 knight really hold a bridge against hundreds of opponents trying to cross?

Frogs are gays whose knights were beaten in melee by British archers.

don't know why you would pretend to be into militaries, especially historical militaries, if you are unaware of the French military record

there's a reason autists have to cherry pick one of the handful of memes where they got wrecked and ignore the centuries of military primacy. I actively dislike most French people I meet but denying their history is stupid

What a bunch of degenerate retards. Fighting each other over sportsball but letting shitskins take over their entire continent unopposed. Soccer hooligans are practically morons.

i could believe this story if the guy died. like maybe he held them off for a surprisingly long amount of time, because a lot of people were retarded and incompetent back then, but then inevitably he was dragged down and stabbed to death. but no he does this, and then gets away? and lives on for years to do like 10 more heroic things? no way. i believe the other stuff but this one definitely got embellished

he was incredibly lucky but also the enemy were fucking stupid
what happened here is a big case of trampling, enemies on the front see the knight and try to fight him but he block them meanwhile enemies on the rear don't see it and keep pushing foward not knowing what is happening on the front, those in the middle get caught in that mess and panic, now those in the middle try to push back instead of going forward and die from suffocation

when historical sources claim a knight did something it's him and 10 guys under him, if it's an italian crossbowman it's him plus one other guy

This but also if the bridge is narrow enough and one or two horses die or get incapacitated at the entrance youre gonna have a bitch of a time getting over that while someone is trying to stop you. Narrow spaces like that are the perfect place to nullify numerical advantages like that

    one at a time easy

The single knight would run out of gas and be exhausted within a few minutes. Look at ultimate fighting and boxing. They are gasping for air and exhausted after a 3 to 5 minute long round depending on the sport.

      >The single knight would run out of gas and be exhausted within a few minutes.
if they were unarmed and non armored peasants the knight could go on chopping whole day

knights trained in their armor for an hour or more most days
their training consisted largely of cardio, running, vaulting fences, dancing jigs, etc all in 20-30kg of armor for an hour or more
they still used Roman military manuals too so it is also possible they followed their practice of using training swords and shields heavier than the real ones

Maybe. I could see it working in a specific set of circumstances.
    >front line is mostly conscripted infantry
    >knight brings a pike
    >levels it at the crowd
    >nobody wants to be the first one to get stabbed
    >knight decides it's go-time and nails a couple guys in major arteries, causing immediate collapse
    >a couple guys try to rush and trips over their dead buddies
    >they get stabbed too
    >now there's a makeshift barrier at the choke point
    >crowd tries to rush and gets jabbed as they try to hop over the bodies, which draws their attention to their feet and makes them unable to dodge the sharp stick
    >the more dudes that get dropped, the more difficult it is to advance
    >advances become impossible as it requires climbing over a wall of bodies just to get to the fully armored guy with a murder stick
    >bridge successfully held
Now, 3 or 4 knights in full plate should be able to hold a 12 foot wide bridge no problem. The guys were nearly invincible and only had to fight 1v1. Again, the dead enemies forming a wall of bodies makes advance harder and harder as the fight goes on.
