Anon all you had to do was make the bolt telescoping. You could have saved so much space!

that was actually something i was considering for a while but ditched, I ended up running into a lot of issues trying to come up with ways to design a bolt like that to actually be manufacturable

what are your manufacturing restrictions? this looks a lot harder to machine

If I can actually get some prototyped mechanical systems working I do want to reach out to someone to have this manufactured if possible
The main point of interest here is the tilting ‘finger’ inside of the bolt. It has 2 ears which stick out of the side to interface with a cam track, which would be used to wiener the striker when the bolt is rearward, and would act as an out of battery safety to prevent the striker from traveling forward prematurely due to inertia. These same ears interface with a sear under the barrel, which would be connected in tension to a trigger at the front of the gun. My hope is that by using a thin, stiff rod in tension, rather than compressing a transfer bar, the trigger pull could be significantly more crisp than a traditional bullpup design
      [...]
Would be based if I was comfortable trying to design gas system. Maybe some day, this is still all new and exciting to me. The part above the barrel is just a wienering tube like an HK Roller gun

How is it supposed to eject spent cartridges?

Until I have some actual parts to dimension and design a receiver based on that’s still to be determined. There’s an extractor on the right side of the bolt that you can’t see in the pictures but no ejector on the design atm. The bolt current completely encases the base of the cartridge and presses flush against the chamber, but i also assume that most guns will have a slight gap here (this is the head space if I’m not mistaken?) and a looser fit around the case that would make ejection more reliable

use same size bolt but with a good caliber. .308 or something.

the idea was basically just to try to conceptualize how to make a bullpup PDW as compact as possible while still being shoulderable, originally wanted to make it use p90 magazines but this is something i want to potentially make myself eventually, so i wanted to keep the design-work relatively simple. Bolt is pretty complex at the moment with a lot of geometry

caliber doesn't change that. bullpup 9mm is pointless. bullpup .308 is perfect

looks like a good cqb option, add some rails to the side for a light and get keltec to make it real

oh i see. roller delay is way harder to get the timing right on since it doesn't lock.
thats why everyone makes gas guns. it's easier and the data is out there already.
you can find the gas port size and carrier weight for a given barrel and gas system length.

The design posted here would be straight blowback, with much of the weight of the bolt being placed forward to cut back on overall length and to act as a guide rod for a forward recoil spring

oh well just do it like a KP9 and make the rod super heavy.

Not designed yet, this is just a sketch of a design for me to fully think through all of the mechanical aspects of how the design will function

I still want to know what sort of tooling restrictions are leading you down this path, I’m not sure what decisions would make this sort of design preferable

Not the final design, i plan to overhaul pretty much everything after actually learning how guns work and copying some other coilgun designs. Coil alignment is one such problem Friction is a b***h but its the only way i see mr zhang making their own weapons without arduinos or IR sensors.

the projectile itself contacts a pair of rails within the coil, sending current to the MOSFET that would dump the charge into the coils. the rails within the coil activates the subsequent coil, pulling the bullet forwards.

The projectile can be any cylindrical steel item as long as it fits the coils and magazine.

I copied the firing mechanism from the uzi from pictures alone so its only full auto. no safety features at all just like their factories. 90% of it can be 3d printed, you'd just need the wire, some screws (I hope i can eliminate that), 9v batteries, capacitors, charging circuit which can be ripped out from a camera or DIY, and probably a solenoid for the bolt.

the solenoid is extended with its own spring power when it's not powered so if it fails, there's still the option of charging the bolt manually.

The TKB is actually really cool and the inner workings are super smart. Instead of a transfer bar it fires a striker backwards into a hammer. I wish someone would modernize the design
