Convincing my friends to become gun owners?

I am trying to convince the friends I really do care about to become gun owners. I live in a very very liberal / left leaning state. I think like 12 percent or less of our population are gun owners. So hardly anyone here has a gun. I am a owner and I have been trying to tell my friends that they should become one also. Mostly because a firearm is such a massive equalizer if you actually are ever attacked. Especially my friends who are women. I tell them all the time that the average male is so much stronger by default than a average woman that its not even funny. Mace isn't going to stop a determined crack head running at you. A tazer isn't going to stop the fentanyl fiend hiding in the subway stairwell. How can I make more sense to them? I am being honest when I say I care about my friends but they often say shit like "Well, I'd just call the cops." I try to convey to them that cops are good yes but a cop is never going to be able to get there in time to save you. A cop is mostly for after the crime has happened. You need something to defend you now when the crime is happening. Not after you have been stabbed or had your face eaten off by a dude on bath salts. What are your thoughts? Have you ever tried to convince a friend to become a responsible gun owner? I strongly feel that especially women should carry a gun mostly because your chances of fending off a male assailant physically is just so fricking low. The joe Schmoe eating pizza everyday is stronger than a woman that tries to stay in shape.

OP nothing you can say to a non gun owner will convince them to get a gun

its a very personal decision to want to actively carry around a weapon.

Nobody wants to get robbed OP. But you would be surprised at how many people are not willing to harm somebody over it.

I see. I hadn't really thought about it that. In my mind, robbers and thieves and what not have basically traded away their humanity when they engaged in that action. I am pretty sure I would shoot one if I felt my life was in danger and they were trying to take my stuff. I just have such a hard time feeling sorry for people like that. Especially drug addicts. I really dislike drug addicts who engage in criminal activity.

go look at that asian kid who stabbed a dude to death in a robbery and bragged about it on reddit

he will get fricked in the ass legally and maybe even go down for murder

if you carry a gun its not because you fear being robbed.

its because you fear being killed in a robbery or something else.

Most people think robberies are harmless affairs and the Black person doing them is robin hood.

      >nothing you can say to a non gun owner will convince them to get a gun
While this is true, what can be effective is getting them to shoot. My former roommate threw a fit about me having guns in the house. A few years later I convinced him to go shooting and now he's asking for recommendations for a revolver.

I guess I am similar. I wasn't anti-gun or anything but my state makes it very hard to get license but after I shot a friends .357, I wanted one of my own so I got my license and carry that. SW 4 inch L-Frame. 357. I actually want to get another one too. Wanted to get one of the N-Frame ones but I don't think those are good are carrying on your waistband... are they?

      >Especially my friends who are women.
Stopped reading there. Women shouldn't possess firearms. Men should protect them.

This nothing you can say. However breaking into their home and beating them within an inch of their lives might convince them. Do it for them!

The legal repercussions of your actions should not even be taken into account. If I were to butcher a man with a superior weapon and every advantage I would brag too. If he's found guilty for not being a sobbing little shit he should simply flee and refuse arrest. It's not a jury of your peers if they are all effeminate manbabies or worse actual women

Mucho words but I did read the subject.
    >wear one of those morph suits that look like a silverback gorilla from a spirit Halloween
    >Grab gun and go inna friend house
    >Threaten to go inna your friends with your wiener
    >Have passionate gay rape and cum inside
    >Make sure to wear a condom to avoid leaving evidence
    >Whisper "should had a gun now you're my wife brb soon"
    >Run away
    >Come back as you inviting them to the range
    >Push a conversation about letting their emotions and secrets out
    >As they cry about being raped hold the tightly and offer to take them to a gun shop so they'll have something to defend themselves with next time

dont talk talking does nothing. invite them to the range. if they enjoy it they will buy one eventually. if they dont want to go to the range with you they were never going to buy a gun unless something drastic like being robbed or raped happens.

take them shooting. try to make it as pleasant an experience as possible. have them double up on earpro (plugs and muffs), take guns that are fun to shoot. .22's, fullsize 9mm pistols, PCCs, ARs etc. stay away from things with harsh/unpleasant recoil. If they have fun and enjoy it, it could change their mind.

Its honestly fine. People just meme about here. Many manufacturers have weird shit happening with "safety" mechanisms but the issue occurs so rarely that its whatever. Shit like glocks exploding in peoples hands and what not.

Take them shooting. Show them there is nothing to afraid of and it's a lot of fun. I bet so many anti gun would become at least neutral on the subject if they went shooting.

Those, honestly. I've gotten four of my friends into guns. Not once did I tell them "you should buy a gun", I just took them shooting. I did pretty much what said and picked beginner-friendly guns to bring the first few times, made sure to go at a time when the range wasn't busy, and just focused on having fun. Before long they ended up buying their own guns because they had so much fun with it.

      >Convincing my friends to become gun owners

Don't do anything dramatic. Don't become weird about it, don't talk about your guns.
Just be kind, polite and competent. The best thing you can do for the image of gun ownership is look upstanding. You won't be able to convince people gun ownership is a viable alternative to the police until they can comprehend reality for themselves.
I like to say it like this:
      >You have a stove at home.
      >But, you can get food prepared by somebody else every day and night of your life
      >But you should still know how to cook, because you shouldn't depend entirely on others to provide for you, that's what a baby does.

People seem to understand that. Saying "You might have to kill someone" isn't a very attractive selling point for people, especially women.

Has good points too. Don't just jump into the deep end right away. Don't be overly dramatic, don't hand a newbie some monster revolver for the lulz, be safe and responsible. That's a big deal, since a lot of people have been taught that guns are scary, but you can fight that by being safety conscious.

this is the best advice itt, you can't force someone to change their mind with just argumentation, you have to expose them to new things and let them decide naturally.

I live in California and have gotten a few separate people to become gun owners just by just inviting them to the range and letting them shoot my guns

take them to a really sketchy area and walk around with them for a bit (let them know you are armed) then just leave their ass (this is when it will click in their mind that the only reason they felt somewhat safe was due to you carrying a gun) if this doesn't work then make every situation a plausible "oh shit i could die" scenario (guy walking up to car door? what if he is trying to carjack me?) to make them extremely paranoid and finally understand that the only person responsible for your safety is you, daddy government won't be there to save you

That's a lot of words. How I convince people is to take them shooting. Have a good time. Then they'll want a gun of their own.

Well if they're indoctrinated by anti gun propaganda what I usually do to counter brainwashing is just plant seeds and water them. Just in a non obvious way say something that makes them think about it or another strategy when someone is entrenched in these positions is to ask them questions to get them to say their ridiculous ideas or lack thereof out loud. Expect a low success rate

By far the best way to get a non-owner to become an owner is to take them out shooting.

You will NOT change their mind on it philosophically.

You can take someone who's on the fence out shooting, they'll see how fun it is, and that guns actually aren't scary.
