A drone isn't fundamentally different from a shitty plane or helicopter, the way to defend against them is situational awareness and depending on the size of the drone air superiority. There's no reason a competently crewed tank should be threatened by a Walmart drone, just shoot it down, it's not a fighter 40,000 feet in the air dropping a JDAM on you while going half the speed of sound.
I have to admit it looks cool, but with all those systems development and maintanence would be a nightmare. And in times of war, you just know those would be sent out with half of the systems not in working order. I don't think this will go beyond the 3D rendering stage. Seems a better concept for a video game tank than an IRL one.
I'm thinking of something similar, but with hull mounted main gun like s-tank (considering most of the tank engagements we've seen so far are ambushes/defenses from entrenched positions anyway). With only the antiair/antipersonnel weapons being mounted on a turret its total dimensions and weight should still be similar to most MBTs
>tank gun >atgms >aa missiles >dual machineguns
all they need now is a trolley ala picrel with a mortar and drone launcher and they'll have a truly universal weapons rack.
>Explain your uglymaxxing
The uglier you are the less the enemy is going to look out for you, therefore reducing his ability to notice you.
It's the ghost zone meta. Much worse than the friend zone.
When you don't exist in the mind of your enemy, how can he fight you?
don't see why the tank can't just travel with an individual SAM unit. Also, not like there aren't already ATGMs from sources other than drone. The existing air defenses of tanks will carry forward, like smoke and anti-IR. Don't see the point of creating something ridiculous like OP's picrel.
A bigass tank with AA and normal tank shit would just be a prime target for artillery, it's slow and big so even if it shoots down spotter drones there's still a good chance of it getting hit from a barrage. Unless it has some super advanced arty-resistant armor of course.
Time to abandon the turret. Guns are obsolete and so are the turrets they require. Instead of a turret have a number of VLS cells which launch dual-purpose missiles capable of both air and surface engagement, ballistic, direct or land-skimming flight modes. Top-attack vs armor and entrenched infantry. Multi-mode seekers or passively guided. More power, more range, more versatility, more protection and reliability (without the need of an armored turret). Indirect and direct fire support in one vehicle. Cells could be loaded with drones and anti-drones (ie HPM suicide drones).
There isn’t a SINGLE reason to keep turreted guns on tanks any longer. Not a ONE. Time to move on.
No
Yes
Maybe
can you repeat the question?
I don't know
Impressive, very nice. Now post the weight and ground pressure.
Or, you can spend less money and get a tank to do tank things, and air defense to do air defense things.
Coward
>tank and AD get separated
>tank killed by drones
>AD killed by tanks
Great job retard
Skill issue
>tank and AD get separated
That seems like a you problem.
No build active defense system against drones
fucking sponson guns
You're right, they're too exposed. They should be in their own turrets.
neubaupard doko
Try again in English
Boner alert
How can a single loader load all 5 guns?
presumably the gunners for the little guns are also their own loaders
God, I wish these things would be viable

this thing is so sexy. Like WarhammerXmodern military core

need to miniaturize this thing to .50 cal and get them mounted
Don't even need it to be .50 cal, just make 7.62 and give it a really good targeting system. You only need it to kill drones
7.62 (either one) will have way less energy than a 50 cal / 12.7, right? So it will have less range / ability to hit reliably?
Main reason they go with 30mm nowadays is because it has *working* air-burst.
With the right targeting system it doesn't take much to swat drones and bombs.
Ahem
Best Korea leads the way as always

Given how tanks ended up becoming 100-ton monstrosities anyway, you might be onto something.
underrated
Hasn't the recent counter offensive shown that you should combine tanks with mine clearing/engineering vehicles instead?
>Leclerc-based
>Not using the EMBT turret
NGMI
You're ugly
Yes. That's the goal.

Seems like a great idea to me.
When was the last time someone tried creating a howertank?
imagine how loud that thing would sound
Hover T-64. Nice
I think 57mm autocannon would be a better aa weapon. Although maybe one or two IR manpads strapped on too would be nice.
>shit at being tank
>shit at being AA
>shitty atgm gets 2 in 1 on hit
brilliant
like adats?

(me)
sorry I know OP was joking I'm just mildly autistic and take everything seriously
that's so stupid. like the radar would cost 90% of it and would be wrecked by the next explosion nearby,
It would be a good idea in the ace combat series
What if you replace the tank part with self propelled rocket artillery
Rocket artillery can't provide close defense for the AD
A bigass tank with AA and normal tank shit would just be a prime target for artillery, it's slow and big so even if it shoots down spotter drones there's still a good chance of it getting hit from a barrage. Unless it has some super advanced arty-resistant armor of course.

just glue some stingers to the turret
Couldn't you just put an anti drone gun on top of the turret?
