You're illiterate, tried to bump your own thread after 40 minutes like the king of newfags, you used an uninteresting image of a shill's product and your OP reads like an angry CoD teen. No wonder nobody gave a flying fuck about your thread.
Don’t care. You’re doomed to be a frail virgin forever alone because no one cares about your niche internet firearm image board knowledge. I will continue being jacked and nutting in 18yo pussy while you spends your days here, homosexual.
Theres a shotgun vs AR thread every week. Only baiting retardsand newfags comment in them now because everything worth saying has already been said.
I would rather see what's going on in actual conflict zones than re read AR general or 9mm vs .45 for the millionth time
Thinking about buying a surplus 870 magnum or stripped 870 receiver and restoring it.
Anyone know how much of a pain in the ass it would be to do either?
Used 870s are way cheaper and plentiful. Plus I'm sentimental to them, my first deer I shot was with an express.
Just get the Benelli M4. You know it's what you really want. Buy once cry once.
Nah. Beretta 1301 is the golden goose in terms of value for me. M4 is cool though but you're paying for the reputation at this point when compared to other just as reliable models
Combat shotguns are great until you have to engage an enemy past 50 yards. What would be an easy shot with a carbine means you have to take cover and wait for someone else to take care of the threat. Enjoy being a bitch.
I don’t see the advantage of a 12 gauge inside of 25 yards. Sorry. If I have my .308 with 20 rounds… you are not going to walk that off. I can reload it faster, and have higher capacity each time. With the right ammo, the .308 is insanely lethal to human beings, I just don’t see how a 12 gauge is worth the hassle. Combat shotguns don’t make sense to me.
That said, I do like them. Also, home defense is another sorry. I have a 10 gauge double loaded with #4 buck (50 pellets each shell), in one room. But if I had time, I’d still go for a .308 battle rifle.
>Combat shotguns
I just don't see the appeal. If I'm defending my house or community then I'd prefer an AUG or, failing that, some other relatively compact rifle.
If I'm using a shotgun then chances are I'm using it for birds, deer or skeet in which case there are better options than a combat shotgun.
Kind of a meme. Should only ever be used to supplement a rifle. Great for clearing a building but what happens when you clear the building and get engaged by someone else 100 yards out? You're fucked
Depends on the situation.
Trying to clear a house with a full size shotgun. Just stupid. Can't pie or clear anything without the barrel getting in the way.
Breaching with short shotgun and then entering before switching. Makes sense and can work.
Now where they'd work best is ship board operations. Shorter barrel and lead shot would be very manageable and not risk blowing thru bulk heads.
There aren't many good reasons not to buy at least one shotgun, since they are very fun to use, versatile, viable for defense and cheap. Then again it also doesn't really make much sense to spend crazy money like what a Taran Tactical Benelli M4 costs either, unless you are a billionaire and money doesn't matter anymore.
honestly its the circumcised AR for most people, a reliable SA shotgun is a great choice though too and has its own benefits. Thing is a good reliable semi-auto shotgun is gonna cost you more than you think, the low bar for entry in terms of COTS options is gonna be the a300 patrol which runs right around 1000. inb4 somebody recommends the mossberg 930, guys who run classes have a low opinion of them in general IME. A blast of 00 is a great fight stopper but the top end of fragmenting 5.56 loads is closer than a lot like to admit at across the room distances, ive seen stuff like 75gr TAP T2 or 77gr TMK leaving nearly fistable exit wounds with regularity and the damage is even worse through organs. If youre running gucci defensive loads the shotgun has a small advantage in wounding at the cost of increased recoil and its kinda a wash IMO but small edge to the AR. If youre running cheap defensive loads and have access to personal or non RO'd ranges where field loads are acceptable then the shotgun gets a more meaningful advantage. If you're limited to indoor or RO'd ranges where youd be limited to buck or even worse yet slugs then the AR gains an advantage in terms of cost to practice with on top of the other advantages. Obviously the AR has massive benefits in terms of ease of use within a structure, lots of people meme on the muzzle blast but you are NOT gonna want to fire either one indoors without earpro, arguing about which is least bad is stupid because youre gonna be fucked either way. Hang a pair of electronic muffs off either one anyways and then the difference isnt meaningful. Frankly the AR is just the better choice for most people outside of niche uses which are unlikely, although make no mistake they are an EXTREMLEY effective and valid choice for home defense. >but what about static HD where maneuverability doesnt matter and i want the most fight ending ability i can have
hot take, this is when the battle rifle is the actual smart choice.
combat shotguns are good for door breaching. that's about the end of the list for serious usage
For home defense where you have like at most 3 guys to deal with and 0 chance of a long range shot then I guess they're ok
Will be good when a reliable double stack detachable box mag semi auto one can be topped off without removing the magazine.
This gets the best of both worlds of tube and box fed systems. Carryig multiple box mags gets bulky fast even with just the single stacks, but one that could be topped off like a tube mag while its in the gun, and could be topped off with a slug or breeching charge selective to the situation.
You would still have 3 or 4 mags for emergency quick reloads and the better balance point than all that 12 gauge out out at the muzzle that a tube fed does
For HD
What is more important to you. Having a ridiculous amount of ammo in your gun, a LOT more than you will likely ever need,
with more then suficcient tissue damage, some would even say excelent tissue damage.
But also a gun that is a bit "taller" but shorter by 2,3,4 ish inches.
With low recoil and easy followups
Or
A much lower capacity but still More then enough capacity, more then you will likely ever need,
but
with excessive amounts of tissue damage and ever so slightly reduced margins of error for a good hit up close.
And
A slimmer (no magazine) but slightly longer gun profile
With slightly more difficult /slower followup shots.
For BOOOG and LARP it gets more complex
Both are fine choices.
Also Depending on what you mean by circumcised this might change (ar "pistol"?) . If so it is even shorter and has still has a decent amount of tissue damage.
Not as much as a 16 or 20 inch ar but a respectable amount. (Unless you go megashort barrel). But the muzzleblast might be uncomfy. Still lethal combat is not about being comfy
How would you guys carry your shotgun ammunition? I am looking for a way to carry 6 to 18 rounds either on my belt or on chestrig (if on chestrig, then I would gladly carry more) I like the quickness of practical rigs but I hate how they lack any "real world" uses. Are there any secure yet quick to deploy ways to carry those said shells?
Combat shotguns are great for close range fights against limited numbers of enemies, for example defending your home against 1 to 5 home invaders.
They are not terribly suited to "battle" situatiosn though they again find a niche in extreme CQC situations like room clearing and breaching, enough that somewhere in a squad that is expecting to clear structures there will probably a guy with a shotgun.
They are a niche, special purpose weapon
Short ARs are better in a general purpose sense but shotguns hold an edge in raw power and one shot stop probability. A man shot in the chest with an AR is dead but he might flail around for a minute and man shot in the chest with a wad of 00 buckshot is likely incapped from massive blunt trauma instantly.
As with nearly everything gun related it comes down primarily to shot placement and what you intend to do with the gun.
I guess people on this board only discuss boring ass Ukraine and Pissrael. No one talks about firearms anymore.

Watch Midway USA video, Uncle Larry lives that shit. Yes, lives.
why do this when brand new 590s for $500 exist?

Can anyone help? LGS has a Browning Auto 5 Magnum 12 gauge for $850. It seems low. Is this too good to be true? Anything I should look out for?

I love shotguns. they got a nice spread
