I'm kind of curious about how the open world Zombies will turn out, but I was going to wait a few weeks and see what the reviews for the multiplayer are like; just CoD isn't a fun game to play without friends.
I'd honestly be happier if they let everyone who owns MW2 buy it for £20-£30 quid, since everything carries over into this game which basically makes it a £70 expansion pack.
Cold War did exactly that and it was basically running around a couple maps doing an objective and beating a special enemy “boss” before teleporting through a portal to another area. So like usual not only does Treyarch singlehandedly carry this retarded franchise, but they come up with all the wild ideas first as well. Regardless anyone who still buys CoD shit after Vanguard is a literal downie. Though at least the campaign for MW2 Electric Boogaloo looked kind of fun from the vids I’ve seen of it. Especially that part in the beginning where they launch and have you control a whole tomahawk missile or something just to kill one guy sitting outside a truck.

MW19 was peak cod guns, MW2 was good for a bit then got HYPER gimmicky, MW3 is only slightly better than Vanguard.
Shame.
2019 wasn’t peak at all because 3/4 of the maps were literally unplayable, but it did do some neat shit that Cold War perfected.
The reason is HK, AM General and probably others decided to ruin modern war set video games forever by threatening to sue over using the likeness of their guns and even the fucking humvee. AM General lost their lawsuit but video games aren’t gonna risk it anymore.
>get metric fuckloads of promotion from one of the largest game releases of it's time >quite literally inspires people to go out and buy your product >most of them just want it to go out and plink targets with or look cool owning all because their favorite video game had >NOOOOOOOOOOOO YOU DIDN'T PAY FOR MY PERMISSION TO USE MY HECKIN GUNERINO!!!! >devs change it to look like a shitty, legally distinct version of the actual item in question >zoomies will grow up thinking your product probably looks like shit now
In the immortal words of Ian "A shekel a day keeps my ass on stage" Malcolm, "just because you can, doesn't mean you should".
yeah this is crazy to me. So many of my guns I bought because I thought they were cool looking in video games I played. All future generations of gun buyers won't be getting such ideas as they won't be growing up playing games with real guns in them.
This is honestly perplexing and hard to believe these companies would want to shoot themselves in the foot like this.
corporations are retarded about free publicity because investors hate how that publicity isn't monetized no matter how much proof showing that doing so increases sales. also gun companies always want their guns to be seen in the best possible light because "negative" free publicity (where the "wrong" customer gets inspired by free publicity) exists.
>this old meme
Its ESG. Just as many ESG funds actively exclude arms manufacturers, it also discourages advertising for them. Guns in videogames getting fake names and tweaked appearances was directly concurrent with sideshaved girlboss female characters being added, and was well before the AM suit. Gun manufacturers like the free advertising, and never didnt.
>muh ESG in a game whose very existence undermines the you-know-who agenda >only one major franchise fucks with the weapon designs (Battlefield changes names but they’re usually fairly close to the real ones, models are standard except with weird powered rails) >COD hasn’t had a really prominent sideshaved girlboss character since Black Ops 3/4’s multiplayer and she fit really well because cyberspunk setting
>muh ESG in a game whose very existence undermines the you-know-who agenda
Exactly. That's why it feels so off and so obvious. The content of the game is inherently anti woke and yet we're playing as a woman who overpowers men twice her weight and shoulder fires a 50cal.
>muh ESG in a game whose very existence undermines the you-know-who agenda
In what way does it undermine the agenda? White men bad, brown people good, even when theyre running drugs across the border, white men only good if theyre fighting for brown people, also previously established white man is now brown man, torture good if performed by state thug, etc. >only one major franchise fucks with the weapon designs (Battlefield changes names but they’re usually fairly close to the real ones, models are standard except with weird powered rails)
MGSV comes to mind, resident evil too. Both franchises that previously were meticulous about proper names and details. >COD hasn’t had a really prominent sideshaved girlboss character
Farrah, Garza and Lazwell are all girlboss characters. In fact the only faction in MW2 who wasnt taking orders from a strong independent woman was shadow company, which makes sense since theyre the villains.
When I said it undermines the agenda I mean it gets normies into guns >brown people good
The main antagonist factions in MWII were a Mexican drug cartel and Iranian-backed Islamic terrorists who are so blatantly based on Al-Qaeda that they use the same acronym (they were also one of the primary hostile forces in MW19, and are scattered around as AI enemies in DMZ/Warzone)
MGSV did it for weapon customization purposes and RE hasn’t in the last two games (apart from a really off-model 1911)
Farah’s based on real local fighters in various shithole countries, Laswell is actually kinda cool and the bad guys in MWIII are financed by Makarov’s oligarch girlfriend
I believe this. Firearms are taboo in tech companies no matter the context. The people who work there probably bend over backwards doing mental gymnastics to explain they aren't portraying firearms in a positive light and actively working with manufacturers would break this illusion
This isn't true. There's a perfect visual representation of the MP5 and dozens of other guns in MW2, and games like Squad have the actual trademark names for everything. Even just the word "MP5" is HK trademark, and tons of games post AM General use that.
I think it's just management fiat- someone goes "oh shit we gotta change this" without actual input from lawyers.
What part of >AM General lost the lawsuit
Don’t you understand? The mw2 remaster was made during the lawsuit so the new 3D model was already made and put in.
I mean that plenty of games still use trademark names. Far Cry 6 made after the lawsuit still has a "MP5" and "MP7" with their exact likenesses. Battlefield 2042 Portal has the same thing with the SCAR-H and P90, all trademark names.
>threatening to sue over using the likeness of their guns and even the fucking humvee.
Not true at all, Activision doesn't want to be associated with modern gun companies, hence why they don't do it.
Biggest reason also is the new California media-gun law and the fact that COD was named in the Sandy Hook lawsuit over its depiction of Remington firearms.
>undisclosed deal
Every Remington firearm had a giant "REMINGTON" stamp over it while all the rest were scrubbed of any markings, hardly subtle. Also that picture is from MW2 when this is concerning MW3. >Zusha Elinson
>not being able to do licensing deals somehow means every single gun has to be a weird bootleg version
If that were true every single FPS would do it. My guess is it’s to facilitate weapon customization mechanics, or the devs just do it for shits and giggles (the MCX variants in nuCOD all look 100% faithful except they have the wrong number of bolts on the handguard)
Aside from the trigger being borked I actually like it
They should’ve had a standard P90 stock and another one that looks like BO2’s PDW-57 as attachments
>get to take liberties with reality in the digital world >rechamber an AR-15 in .410
You sound like the kind of normie to roll human in a fantasy setting.
There is either a grim looking warrior race that actually looks cool, like a lizardman with scale armor or a big grey skinned ogre dude or something, or, more often, there are just gay elves and dwarves. In that case I am just making myself. And I don't have time to learn how to use fairy fingers or whatever. I mash that attack button and my enemies fall around me like wheat. If I run into trouble with a warrior, I just mash the attack button faster or but a bigger axe or sword.
If you're able to create your own character then that means you can play as whatever the hell you want, and no amount of online autism that you didn't choose a tiefling or some other sparklewolf-tier special snowflake OC race is going to change that.

I don’t know what the stats are on this thing, but had a similar vision. With 000 five pellet buck (which has better anti material qualities than brass plated 00 buck) and 900 RPM, you could have 75 36 caliber balls stacked straight actually squeezing through the bore and that would absolutely make a sufficient PDW or even substitute for a combat shotgun
it would also be fairly low recoil
the buckshot hose
>What the fuck.
Franchi was looking into the viability of using a .410 shotgun as a sub machine gun. That's basically all the info there is on the project from the street sweeper book.
How does this compare with the full-auto shotty from MW2. Does it also obliterate everything within 3ft and then proceed to do somewhere between jack and shit out side of that unless you decide to do the funny and load it with explosive slugs?
The devs have been purposely making the guns fucked since around Advanced Warfare. It drives social media engagement. These threads are viral marketing even if you don't intend it.
>You can turn anything into a weapon, it just takes imagination. Some of the most successful military campaigns succeeded simply because no one ever imagined it was possible. If you're planning to take out the most powerful naval force on the planet, forget about doing it in the open water, strike from the depths of the ocean or strike before it's even had a chance to leave port. Who has the money to buy video games anymore? Shouldn't people be more concerned over what they're going to eat and where they're going to live?
Some games I think are worth the price but MW3 is definitely not. I could get like, 20 Hispanicy chicken sandwiches from Chick-fil-A with that money

cause im a cod boomer and want to play muh classic mw2 maps again
the same reason people continue to buy the newest sports game despite it being the same as last year's
Never mind the quality, that game is criminally expensive. I wouldn't buy that shit at retail if it was a masterpiece, let alone a literal DLC.

I always wondered why they made guns weird 'adjacent' and the reason for why was gayer than my assumption that it was for licensing.

I enjoyed Advanced Warfare for how it went a bit wacky. Kevin Spacey is still a good actor.
It had such a plot, too. The way Spacey trapped the american navy in San Francisco bay by demolishing the golden gate bridge was genius.
