Cleaning guns on front porch/front yard?

Is there anyway I could get in trouble for this for "brandishing"? I would keep them pointed towards my house at all times.

I've got an ongoing dispute with my neighbor across the street. Basically, I have a job that has me work odd hours and they say my coming and going wakes them up. I drive a crown vic (4.6 V8) so it's not a loud car but not particularly quite either.

I think they might shut up after this. Plus it's beautiful weather outside. What do you guys think? Would you do it?

Yeah that's kind of the point, bud.
      I'm asking about legal recourse.

      This.

It's a moronic move, OP. And to answer your question, you absolutely could get in trouble, it's your word against theirs, and who knows what might happen if some butthole cop gets called and he escalates things.

      >crown vic
Shouldn't be loud. If the car is in good repair and you just have to work odd hours, frick 'em. If your exhaust is rotted out or you put glasspacks on it? That's on you.

There's no rust and it hasn't been modded.
Some later vics have this appendix-like thing on the intake to make them quieter, but mine doesn't. That's the only thing I can think of that would make it a little louder.

They sound like a bunch of hypersensitive buttholes, that is not some obnoxiously loud car. They'd have a point if it was some modded hot rod or a rusted out heap but a stock crown vic in decent repair? Lol. That said, I don't think the gun cleaning route is a wise move.

I don't think you should have to cuck out, your neighbors sound like buttholes, and your car shouldn't be that loud to start, but can you buy that part and stick it on your car? That's like a five minute swap and $50 in parts. It's at least an option if they aren't troubling you otherwise.

Cleaning your gun with the intent to threaten is a bad idea though. Even if it's not illegal where you are, they could also get/have guns and now you've escalated the situation over nothing. If you aren't intentionally gunning it on your way out of the area, just ignore them.

Some states don't even have brandishing statutes. If your state does however, what you are proposing is pretty much the text book definition of brandishing. Showing all or part of a weapon with the intent of intimidating somebody is illegal.

yes this is brandishing you moronic fricking homosexual. maybe they can't prove your intent but it is literally the definition of brandishing.
you're a pathetic and immature little person for even thinking about doing this.
    >wahhhh my neighbor is whining about me i better display my guns to them hehe surely this will make them shut up >:)

I try to be discrete, but I've disassembled and reassembled a pistol on my front porch before. Nobody called the cops, and I know the neighbors can see me, so I guess it must be whatever. We're on friendly terms. Pretty sure they've seen some of my ballistic gear, too, since I wear it when those morons start firing guns on 4th of July and NYE.
Maybe don't do it if you aren't already cool with all your neighbors.

Lmao that’s why I love meeting new people so I can see their autism on display. You remind me of a friend who goes out to Walmart in a full suit and bowler hat. Fellow autists will call it based to feel some sort of validation in others, but it’s also so weird and off putting. It’s so funny and amusing

Right but this isn't India though. In America you can own guns and even carry them outside in the open, I know crazy. And, and, you can even do that on your own property! Yes in U.S you can lotsa things on property you own.

Cringe. Scaring your neighbors (and cast a poor reputation in all gun owners by association) with your gun collection is cowardly and pathetic. Brandishing (which you would be doing, if not technically the legal definition) is low IQ behavior for chimps and morons.
If you bring a gun out on someonrvit better be because you're about to shoot and kill them.

Talk to them like a fricking normal person and explain your situation. Far more harm has been done in this world by simple misunderstandings like this. They probably don't actually hate you, and you probably don't actually want to murder them.
If they are in fact buttholes, use the standard neighbor annoying pranks. Don't be a homosexual with your firearms.

Very cool post except you lied about a few things, for example you can't "brandish" a weapon on your (you can own land in America) property, pretty wild right?

          >you lied about a few things,
No I didn't. To clarify - anon's plan to "clean his gun" on the front porch specifically so his neighbor would see that he owns a gun, is clearly intentional brandishing. Now that is not the same thing as the legal definition of "brandishing", which varies wildly from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

And to clarify my clarification - absolutely nothing wrong with cleaning your guns outside, it's very relaxing on a nice day. Absolutely nothing wrong with open carry either. The issue is OP acting like a Black person

Depends entirely on the statutes in your local jurisdiction. So, without knowing where you are, I can't give you an answer. However I'd say it's inadvisable to provoke your disagreeable neighbor with a firearm

instead of cleaning your guns on the porch for the comfy factor you're gonna do it to escalate some meaningless argument with your stupid ass neighbours? are you a stupid white trash meth dealer or a gangbanging homie?

just ignore them idiot, if your car is stock they can't do anything about it anyway

I don't believe brandishing is necessarily a crime.
The front porch almost certainly has better lighting.
I would suggest, leaving the gun out of sight though or cleaning it one half at a time.

This is manchild behavior, grow the frick up.

Two possible outcomes here - One, they don't notice your Karen gesture, in which case you are better off but have accomplished nothing. Two, they do notice and immediately call the police and now you're in a he-said-she-said with no benefit to you whatsoever.

Bottom line, you're a fricking idiot.

I'm calling bullshit on all this.

Like what, he yells at you? Call the cops and tell them he's harassing you.

Stock Crown Vics are quiet. It's either fricked or your exhaust is modded. My neighbors across the street have had various V8 pickups for years and I can barely hear them.
