Most people here agree that training is the most important factor in owning and responsibly carrying weapons, but I, and many other people, can't afford to go to $5k training courses, so I ask, are there any PrepHole approved books or training manuals that the average person can buy and follow to train during their own time so that they can learn and practice the do's and don'ts?
YouTube, if you have good instincts about who's credible and who isn't.
OP here, I've been watching youtube vids as a substitute but it feels weird and I almost feel like certain information is being withheld from the viewer in these videos but just enough to where they still feel like they're learning something from "le epic swat team guy"
Is there really no sort of solid media that contains gunfighting technique? even a non-official PrepHole tier booklet?
I mean, there's alot of different flavors of gunfighting... Even among official US government branches. Many flavors are gonna rely on a wider team, or toolset. What's wrong with just getting comfortable with your gat of choice and learning some basic angles? Perhaps doing something fun revolving around said angles, like Paintball or Counter Strike? You can do boxing, Muai Thai, wrestling, or even MMA and all of them will help you in a "real" life or death fight. You can attempt to mimic a real life struggle thru combatives or Krav but that's still not real fighting, nor will anything account for the vortex of variables also involved in the situation youre training for. If it's not your job just make it into a fun thing you do and have the added bonus of being better equipped in .0000001 chance you'll actually need it, and be sufficiently able to apply it as necessary.
Tldr: Official gunfighting is fire and maneuver relay from two or more teams. If you're on your own youre basically limited to moving catlike along walls, punishing mistakes, and either nonstop flanking or getting the fuck out before someone with a proper team fixes and maneuvers you.

It really costs $5k to do a course with a bunch of other people, I'd just practice shit on my own with those prices wtf???
This was ok, seemed pretty reasonable. Most of us would probably be in our house in a shtf situation because we don't have large swaths of land in the suburbs.

knock yourself out
Remember: room clearing is a meme and a waste of time. Walls aren't bulletproof, recon by fire is your best bet
I thought the general mindset is solo room clearing is something you want to avoid unless absolutely necessary?
>Recon by fire into your kids room bro.
>c-clamping a pump
Just this once I will do the spoonfeeding. Eat well little one.
why did you post this as a picture
It's like when you throw peanuts to the crows, if you break the shell the crows will get fat and lazy but if you hide a peanut in the shell they'll keep their wits but still appreciate the treat
I wanna load a round into her chamber if you catch my innuendo. That is to say, I wanna go into battery.

OP, it's not rocket science. These two things are extremely simple and if you do both of these you'll already be on top of 99.99% of the population.
1) Physical fitness. If you don't already get into a routine of exercise. Guns don't mean shit if you're a lardass and can't climb a set of stairs without getting winded.
2) Take an introductory course or two and get range time in. Once you've mastered the basics make your training more advanced by adding stress (i.e. shot timer), mixing up shoot and no-shoot targets, shooting dynamic stages.
Also, I know this is the weapons board and that guns are cool and all that, but if you're worried about SHTF or whatever guns are a small slice of it. You need more practical skills than just shooty shooty. Can you cook or are you a tendie-dependent sperg? How are your first aid skills? If you're driving down the road and you get a flat tire, can you fix that? How about if it's a universal joint that failed instead?
There are some books I can recommend in addition to what listed, but don't just read them, practice it.
-Boy Scout Handbook, ideally one of the 5th through 9th editions. Later ones have a lot of the good stuff removed.
-SAS Survival Handbook and Urban Survival Handbook by Wiseman
-Soldier's Manual of Common Tasks
