This more than anything sums up how souless China is. It doesn't actually matter if they're "just as good" as the real thing, hell they can be better from an aesthetic point and it wouldn't matter. What makes a true monument great is the context. The Eiffel Tower was only meant to be a temporary structure when Paris hosted the world fair, but it's still standing over 130 years later. The Sphinx is the oldest monument in Egypt and is so damn ancient we don't even know what it's creators actually called it. It has seen god even knows how many different rulers come and go over the land called Egypt, the rise and fall of kingdoms, empires, dynasties, and even faiths. The fact China doesn't understand any of this and thinks a tacky replica can be "just as good" truly disgusts me, and it is things like this that make them less than human.
