I got hyped for a second to see that he had a video on battle rifles, but then I saw it was all ARs. Like, I don't even know why I expected any different.
Steyr USA will never bother doubling their already unreasonable number of AUG SKUs by offering 20" barrel complete guns.
$1550 is amazing. They're usually $1800-1900 from what I've seen.
I've been seeing a lot of $1600 AUGs recently, e.g.,
https://www.bereli.com/steyr-arms-aug-a3-m1-223-rem-5-56-semi-automatic-ar-15-rifle-w-extended-rail/
>Be head honch of an arms company >support gungrabbing
What a massive homosexual. At least US weapons companies would never appoint someone to that kind of position with those kind of views.
The MSAR was great when they worked.
The owner seems to be a crook, or a QA corner cutting retard. They were a necessary evil, required to demonstrate to the blind fags at steyr that their proverbial lunch was being eaten in the US market.
this
won't buy an AUG because it's fucking expensive
but still have to buy a Glock since it is one of the cheaper Pistols available that's not totally shit and kinda supported here
>You can get it for $1,400 flat if you can wait until the holiday season. >I got mine for $1,200.
THIS. JESUS OP DON'T BUY LITERALLY WEEKS BEFORE BLACK FRIDAY. Also seriously in general now is probably a very bad time to buy vs saving. Prices are due for a big downward adjustment.
The black friday deals have been shit for the past few years. I rarely see sales on actual firearms anymore. It's always deals on chinesium bullcrap or soft goods that are normally marked up to rape prices anyway. I think last year Midwest Industries 20% off sitewide was the best deal I could find on pretty much anything I actually wanted. It doesn't help that the gun industry never promotes their black friday sales ahead of time, so you have to scramble at the last minute to find a good deal on anything before boomers on social security and the website that shall not be named buy it up.
Last few years has been hot economy as far as consumer spending though anon. It's looking like a real downturn, all the big business rags like the wall street journal say retailer inventory has been ticking up in a big way and now is a bad time to buy. I'm no financial expert but stuff like this >Right Now Is a Bad Time to Spend Money >https://www.wsj.com/personal-finance/savings/fed-interest-rates-holiday-spending-saving-73c1d272
has gotten my attention as I see more and more of it. Everyone can do what they want/need of course but it convinced me to save and wait on my next big purchase.
> gun that used to be $2k for $1200
this IS the big down turn adjustment.
If you can afford it, better to get it now vs waiting for the price to hike back up to $1800.
>this IS the big down turn adjustment.
Can you read? That's not the price right now that's the price during the holiday season which is a few weeks away. Hence the suggestion to wait.
yeah, I can read cockscratch. My point is the down trend in price is baked in. I doubt you're going to get much more meat off that bone. Wait if you like. I'd rather get the new AUG and shoot it before it gets ass biting cold vs save another $100 (maybe). Life ticks on, time has value.
The AUG doesn't even qualify as "modern engineering" because it's an ancient design based upon wrong concepts of ergonomics and features.
Hint: The problems are not related to being a bullpup.
The AUG is a piece of shit, I carried one for over ten years in rainforest, scrubland, desert and various other terrains. It loves to double feed and cause obstructions, the trigger is garbage (that's a fault of the bullpup design) it's balance without a full magazine is retarded, it's easy to get dirty and mud into the working parts and the gas piston has been known to shoot off 20 metres to your front when undone by retards
for that price it aint worth it, get something better
>double feed
Only with blanks. I literally never had a double feed with live in over 10 years wearing green pajamas. If you have any mates in the NZDF ask them how the MARS is going. I heard from mates over the ditch that they took a huge fucking L on it. >gas piston
Maybe just don't be a retard. Is the Minimi shit because you can shoot the barrel off if you don't assemble it correctly? Of course not.
>If you have any mates in the NZDF ask them how the MARS is going. I heard from mates over the ditch that they took a huge fucking L on it.
Could you elaborate on this please? I know LMT sent the NZDF a batch of rifles with bad firing pins years ago, but they replaced them under warranty. I own both an AUG and a MARS, so I'm not playing favorites here.
>reviews on the EF88
It's extremely good. The thing no one talks about is that it's obscenely accurate. My unit shot them MOA when they were first rolled out, with dogshit service ammunition. My SQ did a lot of precision shooting and definitely didn't shoot sub MOA with match ammo.
The only people who don't like them only don't because they have a chip on their shoulder about not being SF or listen too much to sour cunts who do. Not even joking a little.
I paid $1200 and change, $1550 is just below what Atlantic and other outfits are charging currently new. I think even at $1600 it's a good buy and I have no regrets with mine. Decently accurate (1.25 - 2 MOA with everything from Lapua to bulk Federal) trigger is nowhere as awful as I expected (my M16A2 build with a milspec is genuinely as bad) but can be cleaned up with a rat worx sear and or red springs, it's quite a handy little gun and I'm happy with it. I do wish Steyr USA came out with something akin to the CQC or whatever, it would greatly be to the benefit of the gun. If not for the fact I'm obsessed with autistic optics, I'd have kept an ACOG on it.
It's a circle-mildot 3x mag scope very similar to what is currently used by the neutral mountain israelites who are more obsessed with bread than cheese. It bolts in through 4 large screws in the top of the receiver from underneath, you just pop out the barrel and receiver from the gun and you have access to them. You need the A3 M1 (and maybe A3 but you'd have to check steyrs website) to install it, and they sell an optional riser, which I have but not installed. It's a novelty, really. The AUG optics aren't super great, they're fine, they work, glass is good, but an ACOG or ELCAN is a better option for a prism optic. I just like it because it's horrendously ugly and not a lot of them were imported thus far, if you want an integrated scope the normal 3x is probably a better option.
No, the normal "commercial" (still used by some militaries such as Jordan) just has shorter rails that aren't removable and no sling QD socket. You have to either rely on the front socket or if you get an extended handguard get an aftermarket one.
I paid $1200 and change, $1550 is just below what Atlantic and other outfits are charging currently new. I think even at $1600 it's a good buy and I have no regrets with mine. I've never seen one for sale with the stock optics. did you buy that separately?
>I do wish Steyr USA came out with something akin to the CQC or whatever, it would greatly be to the benefit of the gun.
I've heard if you ask Steyr USA they will tell you that they're working on bring that new A3M2 to the states. too bad steyr usa is slow af on bringing things to market. but i am on copium so i have a glimmer of hope that they will pay more attention to the u.s market in the near future
Wait for the Black Friday deal, I paid a bit under $1500 for one earlier this year on Bereli when they had one of their sales.
Naturally I went with the AUG mag OD variant, but I've seen the Mud variant in the wild since and its goooood
How did you get the factory flash hider off? I read that Steyr at one point was using red loctite to secure them to the barrel, and I'm afraid to start wrenching on mine and fuck something up if it's stuck on there or has reverse threads.
nta but red loctite is straight forward, heat and pressure will get it off, acetone can dissolve it ok or fancy would be methylene chloride (main ingredient of stuff like loctite chisel).
Oh cool. I thought a blowtorch was the only way to remove red loctite, so maybe I can do it myself. A know a lot of people were just sending their guns to PJs Steyr AUG to get the muzzle device removed, but FedEx is gay about shipping firearms now and only lets FFLs do it.
you dont even need a blow torch, just got a hot-air gun capable of 400-500 degrees. looks like a hair-dryer with a temperature adjust dial on it. costs like $25 at the hardware store.
Actually I want to add and really emphasize: EVERY MAN who works on equipment stuff should have a heat gun. They're very useful and let you avoid direct flame on a lot of stuff that shouldn't be exposed to it, and be way more precise about the heat you're using. It's way, way safer then a blow torch for all sorts of equipment work or even shit like melting frozen pipes.
It's like having a basic torque wrench, there is no excuse for stripping screws or breaking shit or whatever when working on your guns because you over torqued something instead of just setting the right value and being done.
>FedEx is gay about shipping firearms now
i sent mine to pete (pj). remember, its a qd barrel. just send the barrel. im not saying you have to send it off but its an option.
Just because it happened this year doesn't mean it's a 2023 stock. He said he's only put 300 rounds through it, seems like a noshoots or bought it used.
never had to deal with shipping fees from steyr, they give you a prepaid label like most decent businesses.

yeah, you're totally not some broke loser that isn't complaining about shipping fees you never incurred, all while not going out of you way to bitch and moan like a tween on a thread you visited on your free time. Wow, you sure showed me!
The AUG aftermarket is still like how the AK aftermarket was 10 years ago. You have to buy X part from Y manufacturer and hope you can get one whenever it comes back in stock.
Every Aug I looked at is pristine or at worst gently used, did anyone ever shoot more than a handfull of ammo trough it? Is the shooting experience that bad, so people just wont use this gun regularly?
Last time I checked they only occasionally drop down to 1300 or 1400. Get the standard don't get the one that uses AR mags. The AR mag one has no bolt release and supposedly a worse trigger in most cases.
All the trigger stuff and bolt release are included with the stock (except the trigger pack itself, which is different between the NATO and standard stocks and really ought to be included) so you're looking at $496 plus tax and shipping if you're buying a normal stock and corresponding trigger pack from Steyr USA directly, plus $18× the number of mags you want (Steyr mags are fine and very aesthetic but Magpuls are less expensive and arguably better)
Why doesn't styer sell these with a 20in barrel, everything I see is a 16 and I don't feel like dropping nearly 2k on one of these just to get a 20in barrel.
theyre MGs, so if youre in the US, LEGALLY functional? no, not worth it. its just usable for small parts (and theyre worn). these maylay kits have been around for the past few years
https://www.ar15.com/forums/armory/Any-use-for-the-AUG-parts-kits-from-Centerfire-/43-521892/
>LEGALLY functional? no, not worth it.
do it anyway and never tell anyone or press the trigger too hard
free men don't ask permission
the State calls its own violence "justice", that of the individual, "crime"
It's something that you can legally buy, since MG parts are—generally—mostly unregulated, and what you do with it after that is up to you, much like how you can buy as many AR15 stocks and short-barreled uppers as you like, since it's not ackshually an SBR until you make a firearm designed or redesigned, etc. with a stock and a short barrel out of them.
I paid $1800 before tax and shipping for my A3M1 from Bud’s in 2016 or 2017 and the fact that they’re even less than that now is really cool. If I wanted another I’d pay $1500 in a heartbeat. I’d pay my 2016/2017 price in a heartbeat. I lucked out and got a USR for a great price at a local shop and I’d gladly pay $2k+ for another one of those in a heartbeat. The age of the AUG is here and I’m thrilled about it. There has never been a better time to buy an AUG than right now with sub $1500 rifles and $15 AUG PMAGs (unless your stock cracks and you get your panties in a bunch over nitride vs chrome in which case just keep an eye on gunbroker)
When I was shopping for an AUG I had an opportunity to get a USR for ~$3k and I passed it up because I didn't realize that I could just put it in a normal stock and have basically an A1 with a bolt release, but I don't regret skipping it since the only feature of the A1 that I prefer over the A3 is the non-floppy charging knob
Mine was $1400 on consignment and I couldn’t pass it up especially with prebans going for $3000+ now. With the USR I get an A2 receiver which lets me remove and replace the optic with a pic rail (I won’t) or another 1.5x scope in case it ever becomes damaged which is cool because on an A1 if the scope get damaged you’re screwed as it’s part of the receiver. I stuck in a $30 barrel release button, a $180 black A1 stock directly from Steyr, and one of my spare barrels and that’s how I’ll keep it. I’m very happy with my AUG A2 at home.
>Mine was $1400 on consignment
Christ, yeah, that's a screaming deal
>on an A1 if the scope get damaged you’re screwed as it’s part of the receiver
It's not quite that simple since the optical elements are a distinct subassembly (it's exactly that simple since there's no way Swarovski still makes A1 scopes and anything that breaks the scope probably buggered up the receiver at the same time)
I know you can replace the inner scope on the A1 receiver but like you said that isn’t going to happen. I’d feel awful if I dinged my A1 glass but with an A2 receiver at least you can replace it. They’re not cheap but they’re out there, I was watching one on Gunbroker a few months ago that sold for $500 which is a heck of a lot cheaper than a new preban receiver.
1550 is pretty reasonable imo. Great gun. Go for it.

Yeah, an AR that handles like a shovel with a suppressor is the pinnacle of modern engineering
The AUG doesn't even qualify as "modern engineering" because it's an ancient design based upon wrong concepts of ergonomics and features.

you can get this meme for 800
That looks uncomfortable as hell to hold.
its not bad i do wish the grip was flat like the halo assault rifle but i think its angled for legal reasons
It's so it doesn't count as a "pistol grip" in ban states, so it's technically for illegal reasons (all gun control laws are unconstitutional)
It's surprisingly comfortable, actually. It kind of feels like a normal hunting rifle stock.
t. only fingerfucked one at the gun shop.

People who like AUGs keep theirs, people who don't sell them after a few hundred rounds
Last time I checked they only occasionally drop down to 1300 or 1400. Get the standard don't get the one that uses AR mags. The AR mag one has no bolt release and supposedly a worse trigger in most cases.
not to mention the steyr AUG mags are more robust than AR15 mags, on par with AK74 mags, and SIG 55x mags.
If I bought a STANAG (AR mag) Aug am I fucked? How much does it cost to convert? Do you get the double trigger bar and bolt release back?
Sell it and buy the Standard.

The parts kits are WHOLE, un fucked receivers. Some assembly required. Do it. DO what I cannot. They took my rights.. let me live through you.
I kinda want to 3D-print a full-retard AUG but not enough to buy a 3D printer
With what? Nylaug?
That'd certainly be the easiest route.
The nylaug release also has files for an AR15 FCG conversion so the trigger isn't complete trash
what is this kit missing?
receiver and most of the barrel assembly
I would only buy that overpriced gun for 1,000-1,300. I've always thought it was cool but i'm a cheapo.
You would need a receiver and a barrel, and a gunsmith willing to manufacture an unregistered machine gun and not tell anybody
theyre MGs, so if youre in the US, LEGALLY functional? no, not worth it. its just usable for small parts (and theyre worn). these maylay kits have been around for the past few years

They’re not cheap but they’re out there, I was watching one on Gunbroker a few months ago that sold for $500 which is a heck of a lot cheaper than a new preban receiver.
man, imagine if Swarovski, of their own accord, made an improved A1 optic with, e.g., a daylight-bright red dot
