People capable of doing what they do don't have the character to work well in an army. They would break and run, leaving their teammates behind at the first sign of real resistance.

Lol no. They are very afraid of dying. If the weren't so terrified of death they wouldn't be acting out as badly as they do. They know they will go to hell for what they've done so they pray to death to let them live a little longer so they can enjoy the little bit of pleasure they traded away their eternal soul for.

But why is it like that? Cartels have money and those guys can divert all their time and focus on training while having gucci gear that didn't have to go through government contracts and dozens of soldiers before. They don't have to waste time on shit like barracks cleaning, marching, paperwork or shit burning. Cartel can literally get ex spec ops, pay them 10 times more and have a blast

          Something does not add up

            Anonymous

the cartels DID hire spec ops, then the operators betrayed them, see

            https://i.imgur.com/evCIsfr.png

interesting how few people here based on their comments are aware that cartels have hired many mexican special forces soldiers

. gangs have always used child soldiers since forever, due to low cost recruit, train and replace when they eventually eat shit. real operators are only used for assassinations. unless the shooter has joined the family, he's a liability.

            Anonymous

Because dudes who join cartels are more interested in getting shitfaced and fricking women, not training. You think a literal gang banger has the patience and diligence to sit there and run drills for several hours a day?

That hasn't really been a thing for a decade now. The Mexican military freaked out pretty badly when their special forces defected to the cartels and just started doing air strikes on the leadership. Pretty much all of the former SF guys in the cartels are dead now.

I said that the m203 was an impressive piece of equipment, and you responded by saying that full auto weapons are ineffective. I then (rather gracefully, I might add) reminded you that the m203 is NOT, in fact, a fully automatic weapon, but an under-barrel grenade launcher.

Listen, man... Do you need a win tonight? Do you really need to win this? Cause I'll concede. I know how it is. You work hard all week, come home, have couple of beers, start making arguments online with strangers.... Just give the word, bro, I'll let you have this one

He is, and you did. You’re weird romantic views of the capabilities of beaners with more money than skillz doesn’t change the fact that cartel members regularly get CRUSHED by Mexican marines with roughly equivalent gear. As it turns out, people that kill for money aren’t actually willing to die for money they won’t be able to spend.

Who would win, one eleven man squad of gucci but inexperienced 2022 cartel soldiers or one eleven man squad of crack 1945 soviet infantrymen (presumably have been fighting since 1941 or earlier). Battle is in summer at high noon in a small desert town in Baja California, with neither side knowing the terrain and will have to rely either on their equipment or past experience.
Cartel can be equipped with anything from mp5's with 40mm grenade launchers to m240b machine guns or gold plated deagles, pic related is what the soviets will be fielding.

By 1945 half of those Mosins would have been replaced by PPSh-43s and the dinner plate-28 might well have been replaced by an RPD in a “crack” Soviet squad. The squad leader would possibly be carrying a PPSh 43 or maybe even a Stg 44 or M1 carbine if he was lucky enough to get his pick of captured or lend lease weapons and didn’t have a preference for a soviet msg. I’m going with crack Soviets on this one, if only because the qualifier of “inexperienced” means we aren’t talking about circa 2006 Los Zetas ex special forces Sicarios but rather the standard chihuahua cannon fodder of doped out teenagers with machine guns.

not sure if b8 but if you can't understand why he did it you are still too young and have no pride. the man was an already set he had money and didn't live in that ranch he used that ranch to hunt and farm, so he did what he loved and hunted the most dangerous game which he paid for in blood.
as for what he hoped to accomplish? the same thing cartels do when killing civilians, to send a message. I cant imagine a criminal organization getting its shit pushed in by a single civilian would garner much reputation, the dishonor that would cause and the reputation they would lose. it also goes to show that that their are people in Mexico who are willing to oppose tyranny even if it cost them their lives

He was 77 years old and wanted to go out with a bang rather than end up in a retirement home. Anyone acting like he made some sort of difference is a moron. If the guy was younger and still had something to look forward to in life rather than just debilitation, pain, losing his mind, death, and watching the same happen to most of the people you're close to that starts coming at that age, he probably would have just given up the land. He had already lived 6 years longer than the average male life expectancy in Mexico at that time.

What, being up against an extremely powerful and well equipped group that's effectively a local governing body that's trying to eminent domain your home? Why do you think you'd be able to get away without the reprisal that normally comes with killing someone trying to enforce the will of a governing body? Why do you think your friends will be willing to throw their lives, hopes, and dreams away at a moments notice to join you?

Also, Los Zetas that were involved in this case are the ones behind a lot of the crazier execution videos like Funky Town.

Can someone tell me what the hell the cartels make these ghetto ass armored cars for?

They seem like they'd be less practical than real, easy to obtain vehicles like BMPs or BearCats, and even less useful than the classic "M2 bolted to the back of a pickup truck" African Technical.

I'd chalk it up to one guy's autism but apparently over 40 of them have been destroyed or confiscated in the past couple years

they're just slightly more intelligent than african Black folk

They have at worst comparable small arms to the police in Mexico, and vehicles that are uparmored enough to withstand that small arms fire.

so mexican police have antimaterial rifles on call?

I said at WORST, the cartels have comparable weapons to the police. I wouldn't count on a beat cop in Mexico having ready access to an antimaterial rifle.

Back in the day at least, somewhere I wanna say around 2000-2005 ish give or take a few years, it was apparently just a Glock 19 and a MP5.

If you haven't seen it, this is an interview with an ex cop from Mexico who was working during the height of the cartel war.

Not at all. The military almost never authorizes any caliber above 7.62 or explosives when fighting the cartels.

Are serious? Cartels might have lots of money but they can only get so much with it without their shit getting intercepted before it even gets placed onto a boat. They’re more like large and powerful gangs than some sorts of terror groups or militias in Africa/Asia. Welding metal plates gets the jobs done and they don’t need to potentially lose money and manpower trying to smuggle in armored vehicles that will get easily destroyed or captured the moment the Mexican police and military track it down.

cartels have at this point bought each and everyone and everything in Mexico.

Mexican government = cartels = police = law enforcement.

So they could afford a cell phone jammer, a five seven, an M203, and radios but not any actual armor or gear better than 5.11 and under armor?

the only interesting thing is the personal signal jammer. actually i think proffessional militaries will soon equip their soldiers with similar standard ewar kits.
