Should I put a round in the chamber and top off my magazine to have the +1 or should I just ignore the +1?
Yes I am new into guns, got my first gun literally yesterday.

you should put a dick in your ass
how's THAT for +1
Carry with a round in the chamber.
Yes, do top off.
No, do not eject the live round from the chamber, unless you're cleaning the gun.
Leave the gun loaded, carry it out hide it or whatever, but load it fully and keep it fully fucking loaded, until you clean it
Thanks.
It's a gun for home defense and I was thinking of keeping it without a round in the chamber because of my mom and brother (22yo), but that's kinda silly because they all know how a gun works because I always take them to the gun range.
I will keep it chambered and use the full 17+1 capacity then.
As people say, not having a round in the chamber is like buckling up a seatbelt only after an accident.
You guys are damn right, I am gonna chamber it and put the +1 round right now.
Pic rel, it's a 92-fs made by Taurus (paid $1.1k for it) a real Beretta cost shy of $4k here.
I loaded it up with Federal American Eagle 147gr FMJ flat nose because I don't trust Brazilian ammo and that Federal was the only American ammo I could find.
Post of picture of just the ammo anon. What a strange way to package bullets…
I got that pic from the internet, that's how "self defense" brazilian ammo are sold because they are expensive, so they are sold in blisters of 10.
The blister with 10 FMJ like pic rel is 11 dollars, the same blister with 10 FMJ HP cost 27 dollars.
That's why I bought a box of 50 rounds of Federal for 130 bucks, it's just a bit more expensive than the national round nose shit and CHEAPER than the national HP.
Sure HP might be better than Flat nose, but Federal ammo is more reliable.
Another pic.
What’s 130 Brazilian dollars in real people money?
130 US dollars.
The same ammo cost 26 dollars in the US.
Welcome to the insanely expensive ammo and gun prices of the Third world.
https://www.federalpremium.com/handgun/american-eagle/american-eagle-handgun/11-AE9FP.html
What the fuck, that’s fucking insane. It’s more expensive to shoot the moron than to let him take your wallet lmao
Yes, my phone is literally worth less than the rounds in my magazine.
No, it's not Brazilian currency, the price is in US dollars.
Unbelievable I know, living in the third world is expensive.
why is it expensive?
is it a legal thing? like they levy a tax on it because the government requires it?
>why is it expensive?
Because it's a monopoly, CBC can charge as much as they want.
>is it a legal thing? like they levy a tax on it because the government requires it?
Those itens are taxed to hell and the manufacturer has a big profit margin on it, so it's an insane tax on something with an insane profit margin.
it's pretty nuts reading about this.
"Tuesday’s decree raised a limit on ammunition purchases to 5,000 cartridges per year for normal guns. The previous cap was 50 cartridges per year for average citizens, with discretionary limits for soldiers, police, hunters and some other categories left to the Brazilian military."
The 5000 cartridges limit is for sports shooting, for home defense it's 200 cartridges annually.
but that's just 9mm ball ammo. not even a "special" defense round. pic related is about 30$ USD.
can you not make your own ammo there? not like, "make from scratch" but reloading and pressing ammo. ordering powder and primers and stuff.
always crazy to hear about how it is in other countries. hopefully it gets better for you guys.
That's gonna be very hard to find around here, but I'll try finding it or something similar.
The only American HP I could find was pic rel, but I saw some reviews saying it doesn't have a consistent expansion.
30 bucks in the US, 130 in here (or more).
>can you not make your own ammo there? not like, "make from scratch" but reloading and pressing ammo. ordering powder and primers and stuff.
Yes but first I gotta get a license for it and supplies are expensive as fuck.
>always crazy to hear about how it is in other countries. hopefully it gets better for you guys.
Thanks bro.
Yes that's me.
>and since it's a 1911, I prefer to keep it unloaded, I just need to rack the slide if sht
Why? That should be a pretty safe gun since you have to hold it with a firm grip, otherwise the trigger won't even work.
I shot a Taurus 1911 and it was hard to hold the gun with enough force to disengage the grip safety.
Besides 1911's are low cap, so having it chambered and topped off would be ideal.
Is your a 45 or the 9mm variant?
>Why?
Ease of mind I think. It's always next to me with full magazine so no worries.
>Is your a 45 or the 9mm variant?
.380 ACP. It's not the best choice I know, but I bought it before Bolsonaro released his first decree.
I have other fireams as well, but it's for sport shooting so I don't even keep them loaded.
Oh right, yeah, before Bolsonaro 380acp was the biggest caliber available for civilians.
And you gotta remember that the minimum wage is $200, so a box of Federal ammo is over 2 weeks worth of work.
True, more people died because of the safety than because the lack of it, but my mom clean my room and do my bed sometimes, so I prefer taking a bit extra care.
If one day I get a carry permit, you bet it will always be ready to fire and safety off.
Oh you must be the guy who made the flat nose Federal thread.
Well, I mostly keep my gun without a round in the chamber. My SINARM pistol is an Imbel MD2 and since it's a 1911, I prefer to keep it unloaded, I just need to rack the slide if shtf.
Show me one modern example of someone with an unloaded chamber successfully defending against an aggressor
If you practice racking the slide during your draw it’s literally no slower than just drawing a loaded gun. It’s not like you have to stop moving the gun toward your target because you are racking the slide
Carry with one in the chamber, you're not guaranteed a chance to have both hands free to rack the slide.
That’s a fair point for most people but personally I have both hands on my firearm at all times. I have difficulties going through normal routines in life but safety comes first bros
>new self defense meta
friend, you want it to go bang every time you pull the trigger.
you don't draw and rack the slide. you carry with one in the pipe, that's just how it works.
the gun isn't going to go off randomly. if you want to be extra safe, don't even keep the magazine in the gun. keep it disassembled. keep the ammo and the magazine behind separate locked doors. have a timed codelock that requires a 1000$ bitcoin deposit when you want to retrieve the ammo, so you can only use it in a true self defense situation.
the gun isn't going to fire itself. it's unable to fire in a holster. how do you think it could go off, without you pulling the trigger? it's exactly as safe to keep a round in the chamber as not, because the only way it can fire is when the trigger is pulled.
I don’t think it’ll go off by itself, I just think racking the slide is cool
>I just think racking the slide is cool
it is
>when your wall of text gets so thoroughly mogged by an autist you have to quit PrepHole and rethink all your life choices
Yes, you should top off mag. Now post your gun so we can judge you.
I ignore the +1 cause It's easier to just pop it back in the magazine when you have to clear the gun, instead of having a loose round rolling around and shit, then you just put it back in the gun and cycle a round, and you're ready to go again.
>people are still debating the +1 question
>literally zero discussion of +2 carrying Sometimes I really hate the internet
Not carrying +3+
>ngmi
OP here.
I just cleaned the gun, lubed it up, put a round in the chamber and topped off the magazine, now it's loaded with 18 rounds and safety engaged just for extra precaution.
Thanks everyone, I finally have the right to protect myself and my family while at home, maybe one day I will conquer the right to protect my life when outside, but it's a start.
Safeties are dangerous. Only cops need safeties to claim accidental instead of negligent discharges.
There is also no such thing as accidental discharge, except for within Police Unions.
load the chamber from the magazine and carry it that way, but fuck carrying around one extra round to "top it off"
that is autism
that is some autism
You did an autism fren
that is some serious autism
that is some serious debilitating autism
He doesn’t have random bullets of every caliber laying around every place he frequents in his life

When was it Anon?
