Cancer free Wood glue for pipe?

I've been trying to make myself a wooden tobacco pipe with no power tools, by cutting both sticks down the middle, than hollowing them out and putting them back together. After realising I'm not a skilled enough craftsman to make one where air can't get through the cracks, I've decided to just glue the pieces all together at the seams.

What can I use to glue these together, that also won't give me immediate cancer or popcorn lung when I set it on fire and smoke from it?

I'm thinking homemake some pine resin glue, or use marshmallow fluff. Anyone think setting pine sap on fire will give me super cancer?

Why have you done this to me computer????? Why does PrepHole hate photos taken from mobile.

      >Why does PrepHole hate photos taken from mobile.
Your phone doesn't move the pixels in your photo, it just puts some meta data in the image that says "rotate this image when you display it." This meta data is part of the EXIF block. PrepHole strips out EXIF on all images on all boards except PrepHole because EXIF can also contain dox.

You realize you can get a non powered drill, right? I get the appeal of wanting to only use basic tools, but humans have been using drills of some kind for thousands of years.

JB Weld high heat is good to like 500f and is recommended for stoves and grills. Would hate to see you get super cancer, lung cancer is a much better experience imho.

I just don't like the idea of setting super glue on fire and then breathing it in. Dosent feel comfy. Sounds like something Nigerians would do to get high.

Google just says it's made of "acrylic resin" and I can't figure out if that is toxic when combusted.

You shouldn't be putting it in the bowl, dingus. You should put just enough on the outside where the stem goes in to make an air tight seal. Whatever you use you don't want it to actually see a flame or hot "tobacco." Really using any glue is stupid, just keep carving stems till 1 fits.

Was I the only one taught to use Elmer's white/ school glue? It fricking works. You don't need anything fancy 90% of the time and the other 10% it's either not wood or you should consider not gluing at all.

Smoking "tobacco" out of a lightbulb tier.

avoid glue, no proper pipe uses glue, whittle down your stem until it is a perfect ait tight fit, even if it isnt absolutely perfect, the cake you form from smoking it will fill the gap, start by using small amounts of tabacco and smoking it down to build a very thick resin to seal it.

This guy gets it. OP, you're 80% there now, if you twist and grind that stem into bowl with some sand for grit it will seat itself.
As for sealing... spit and pipe ash. Look it up. That's the sealant used for pipe leaks. It makes a cement that seals stuff up.

You could use milk glue, no idea if it causes cancer but since it's just milk, vinegar and baking soda it seems harmless even if heated up. Recipes are easy to find online.

Pilk glue might be a more apt choice, buddy.

all natural non cancer glues are made from protein and will not withstand heat.
all non protein natural glues (resin) are hydrocarbons and will give you cancer.
Most artificial glues are plastic and will give you cancer if heated

Wouldnt it become air tight after a small amount of use, the tar would fill the gaps, dry wood would expand a bit...

Hollow out new shoots of maple with a coathanger or guitar string. The center of the stem is called the 'pith' and it's very soft and just falls out like powder when you poke it. Pic related.

If you aren't doing billies with a plastic bottle and a hose glue gunned to it, you're not really a smoker.

But seriously, that shit probably gave me a minor stroke after only a few months and I've been basically smoke free since for half a decade (and have not really recovered).
Disappointed covid didn't end me 2bh.

Animal glue can be used, but idk if it's applicable on pipes. Because of the heat would melt the glue

Nobody has mentioned this yet, but most woods cannot be used for pipes because they are sensitizing allergens. You may not have any immediate effects, but further use will cause an allergic reaction.

Product design. Make sure glue is set back so only wood is exposed inside.

Anon, you do realize that after one fire or two, the glue will stop emitting fumes? There's only a finite amount of glue, it's not like a colony of bacteria that keeps growing. So just glue the thing, light tobacco in it for a few non-consecutive hours without smoking it, and then proceed to smoke at your leisure.

Could you use pine sap? You can make a pretty strong wood glue with it but i don't know if it can harm you.

What kind of wood is this abomination even carved from?? You know that pipes are made from briarwood for a reason, right? This thing will probably burn up, crack or splinter once it's exposed to flame and burning tobacco.

Pine. I just picked up some sticks in the woods.
I don't expect it to last long. It's not hard to make em so I figure I can just make a new one every now and then when it gets destroyed because I enjoy doing it.

get some bamboo of the right sizes, 90% of the work is done for you. then you only need to make a hole in the bowl and whittle the stem to a tight fit.
i had one for a while it worked fine

your using shit materials to begin with, look for a local source of bamboo if you're worried about it, or learn how to craft a pipe properly and get correct materials to do so.

Just use the resin from another pipe to help seal it. After awhile that resin will bake in and harden almost like a glue. Once the pipe is fully sealed you can rub some aluminum foil and clean the resin out of the bowl and steam seal
