    Eeeeehhhhh...
    Modern percussion caps use a more impact resistant priming compound than the old school ones so unless you have a fairly strong mainspring it can be a bit iffy.

    Most need some gunsmithing right out of the box. A High Point or one of those old top break .38's with handloads would be more reliable.

    You can't just leave a blackpowder gun loaded and stored, the powder will suck up moisture from the air and go inert fairly quickly.

    Wild Bill Hickock was especially obsessive about this - he made a point to fire his pair of Colt 1851s until empty every single morning, then reload them and seal them with wax
