It's Ukrainian. The ць letter combination is a good indicator for something being written in Ukrainian, this combination does not exist in Russian. Also, the letter є is Ukrainian, Russian has э. Confusing, I know.

Sure, I'm not saying it's going away right away, but the US is doing some really stupid stuff to endanger that position. Doing what is in the image would be like just handing BRICS a win on a silver platter.

              Anonymous

BRICS has to be competitive to "win," and China has withdrawn from cooperation with Russia and is in the most economic turmoil it has seen since opening up. The rest of Chinese leadership have made overtures of peace and trade with the US even as Xi and indoctrinated youth push for hawkish posturing. By your logic, the next 1-2 years before Russia's implosion would be the best time to unseat USD, but coincidentally China and Brazil are in political upheaval, and USD is stronger than ever.
Aside from this, you would have to see collective resistance from Europe and free Asia to motivate a move to a new reserve currency, since bailing would nuke their economies if it's piecemeal due to debt dynamics. There isn't really any.motivation to do so.

                Anonymous

China has withdrawn cooperation with Russia? Weren't they just doing joint war games like a week ago? China will also lie very blatantly about their cooperation with Russia, and Chinese tech is still showing up plenty in Russian equipment.

                Anonymous

Military cooperation is symbolic, they have refused to provide concrete aide in Ukraine and froze increases to Russian trade for months despite Putin begging them to circumvent sanctions. Russia has also landed in hot water for trying to pass off "consumer-grade" purchases as actual Chinese aid.

                Anonymous

I wouldn't trust much analysis regarding Chinese involvement. The Chinese make a habit of lying about such things very openly. Russia is selling oil, lots of it. It's not all going to India alone (which comically India appears to be reselling some of the refined product to Europe lmao).

                Anonymous

China is lying (about supporting Russia), that's why you need to look at objective measures.
India is still cooperating with Russia at roughly the level they were before but would default on many debts in an attempt to flee USD. India is currently accumulating debt, because it needs to run on a deficit for modernization, so defaulting now would be a net loss.

Brazilian agriculture is going to get massacred due to the fertilizer shortages. They might have enough on hand to get through next year's plantings, and they might not.
Russia is dead demographically in the next few decades regardless of how the war ends, and their energy production is probably going to collapse due to a lack of support from Western corporations and their engineers.
India is... India. They won't get much worse, but don't expect them to get much better, either.
China is facing rapid demographic collapse, and they've Ponzi'd their way up to such a degree that they're just playing financial Jenga now. They just need a good spark to light the powder keg.
South Africa is busily attempting to replicate Zimbabwe's stunning successes in economic development and human freedom.

So... yeah. BRICS doesn't appear to be a serious threat outside of the obvious (nukes).

What happened in Kherson though? I heard about an advance? Is the panic spreading?

Things seem very bad for the Russians. If 10-30,000 troops are captured and they lose a ton of artillery, can they even continue the war?

Mobilization will take months. Even if Ukraine can't hold all the land, if they destroy a large amount of artillery and take a lot of POWs, it's hard to see how Russia gains any initiative for the next 6 months.

It's definitely happening. Here in Finland the old pro-Russian lefties from SDP and the Left Union (previously Socialist People's Democratic Union) are getting shit for their corruption. Also, the Greens have made a 180 and declared nuclear to be good. Best of all, all the closeted anti-Russian sentiment is out, and it's become a popular viewpoint to ban entry for Russian citizens. This would mean that many Russian immigrants would find themselves in a very difficult situation.

It's doing the opposite though, at least in Europe. Green energy is seeing a boost because it works without gas(yes, nuclear is green and left wing), "progressive" welfare is being seriously considered, even by conservatives. Sure, it's also boosted nationalism, defence spending and xenophobia, but overall this war has been a blessing for all but the most moronic kompromat tier leftists.

Perhaps not him, but the guy after him. The hope was always that he would be replaced by a more liberal leader. Now, whoever replaces him is going to have a really hard time selling a pro-Western policy and an easier time demonizing the west to rally the populace for their plight.

                Anonymous

This was always stupid because it assumes that Putin is a hardline extremist pushing Russia away from the west, when in reality he's a moderate. It would be just as likely for he successor to be significantly worse, and any perceived success from the war would only make that more likely. Crushing Russia's military ambitions was always the correct decision. Discrediting the saber rattlers does far more to bring the country in line with the west than allowing them to continue playing pretend empire. Even in a fanciful world where we used them as a secondary threat to contain China, they would only be as useful of an ally to us as they are with China now. A scheming backstabber that's only concerned with advancing their own interests is not a worthwhile ally.

I would agree, but the way it looks, if Russia loses, I'm sure they'll come up with their own version of the "stab in the back" myth and cope that they didn't go hard enough, and that Putin was a softie. Say what you like about Russians, but they're pretty stubborn.

      No, it's still ongoing.
Remember all the vatniks coping about how Ukraine outnumbered them after mobilizing? It was true, Ukraine can support multiple offensive operations while still maintaining reserves and defensive positions.

This war has fricked up any chance of having a pro-Western Russia helping to contain China for 20 years.

How much help would Russia be, after seeing their military might on display for the past 6+ months?

While Lsychansk and Siverodonetsk would be huge morale boosts and obviously give a more defensible river position to the exploding Kharkiv Front, we can't forget that Svatove is a major logistics junction for the Russians and would essentially open up the entire Svatove Raion to the Ukrainian army.

the bridge at senkove was blown by the ukrainians when they originally retreated from there (back in april iirc???). they crossed the oskil river at the town of oskil just south of the dam, they captured the bridge there intact, and south of the dam and north of the reservior that river is little more than a creek this time of year anyway. some places are nominally only 20 or so yards across. which is even narrower than that spot on the siversky donets at bilohorivka where the russians tried to pontoon, and the water this time of year is only a few feet deep, so you can simply drive or even wade across.

        >They could have theoretically dammed it for a few days up north
ukraine didn't control the oskil up there, and there's no need, once the water is low enough that your vehicles can simply drive through it then it may as well not be there. also at this point the ukrainians could probably throw a pontoon across in full view of the russians and the russian response would be to hit reverse as fast as their little transmissions will take them.

Nuclear is traditionally pushed by right-wing groups as a way for autonomy (resource autarky). For example, French nuclear efforts were under UDR. The principal reason that greens are anti-nuclear is because environmentalism is coopted by commies who are obligated to hate anything conservatives and liberals support.

      Anonymous

Green groups were mostly founded by the KGB with the goal of crippling the West's nuclear, oil, and manufacturing sectors. Any serious attempt to curtail pollution involves killing or sterilizing most of the third world.

Geoengineering and carbon capture are effective alternatives that do not need poors' consent or butchering. This is why think tanks conclude that it should be avoided, because it provides a good reason to not give a frick about emissions.

          Anonymous

Pollution isn't just GHG. Carbon capture doesn't undo the trash islands in the oceans or fix the ozone layer or get endocrine modifiers out of the soil and water. Only slaughter can stop those harms from getting worse to give us a chance to fix them.

oh yeah, in that sense you are probably right, but for the standard greenie "bro think of the thermostat" narrative it isn't necessary to touch the 3rd world

Nah greens are anti-nuclear because when nuclear fails it really fricks up the environment. It’s an old mindset from the 70s environmental movement which happened at the same time as a bunch of scares/meltdowns. They never accepted how safe modern reactors are. That’s all it is, it’s not political.

Kherson counteroffensive. They will make a little bit of ground towards Nikolayv and pressure Kryvyi Rih. This will peter out. One day the Ukies will push and their lines will give, only to reveal that a good chunk of them either are already evacuating or have already evacuated.
