If you do, use a normal round with the bullet removed, not a ready-made blank -- the powder is different.

Don't know about that, but I can tell you how my uncle used to clean his rifle.

    >literally drown that fricker in oil
    >reload
    >shoot twice
    >good to go
He was in basic back in the day, so no blank cartridges for conscripts I reckon.
He got promoted to penal unit eventually, but it was unrelated to his cleaning techniques AFAIR.

      >Use a hammer and brass punch
This. Make sure the punch is as close to the inside barrel diameter as possible or you will just punch a hole through the bullet. I've removed squibs at least a hundred times, and bullet type really matters, and whether or not you have to push towards the breach or the chamber. Some bullets have thick jackets, those are easy, hollow points suck balls if you have to push towards breach, lead bullets make you hate life.

  13. 11 months ago

    No.
To clear a squid, you need to use a +P bullet.
Thats what they were originally created for, and thats why they are flat nosed.
The increased surface applies more force on the stuck bullet, much like driving a stake with a mallet.

Gaunt has a yutub vid of cleaning a squib out with some lead melting acid(doesnt effect steel) . But produces toxic fumes so . Be carefull

  15. 11 months ago

This is literally how Brandon Lee died. They had a cartridge that had no powder in the gun, and someone pulled the trigger. The primer went off with just enough power to cause a squib. Later the same gun was loaded with a blank, which pushed the squib out of the barrel as if it were a normal bullet

Blank is the most moronic way to do it. You'd be smarter to just try and shoot it out with another bullet. At least the new bullet is carrying momentum and allowing a relatively linear expansion of gasses. A blank will just instantly ramp up the pressure in the entire barrel and won't accelerate the bullet NEARLY fast enough to vent or regulate pressure.

I bet you could make a "blank" that clears squibs if it used some kind of smokeless powder that burned at 0.1% the speed of average pistol powder. Ramping up the pressure slow enough would harmlessly squeeze out the bullet with no damage, but why would you buy the weird meme blanks that only work in a situation that has a 0.01% chance of happening?

  24. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

No. Blanks are weaker charges and the stuck bullet already failed on a full charge.

After you remove the bullet you need to clean and assess the barrel which may have chunks of lead and copper remaining and damage to the barrel that may cause another bullet to stick.

      >stuck bullet already failed on a full charge
If its getting stuck then it probably had less than a full charge in the first place.

Yes that'll work. Please record yourself doing it so we can all see how well it worked.
