can anyone identify the LMG in this game's cover art?

can anyone identify the LMG in this game's cover art? The revolver looks like a PPC revolver either a DW or S&W and the shotgun is clearly a slightly stylized SPAS-12 but I can't tell what the LMG is if anything at all. Parts of it look like a Benelli M3/Ultimax/Stoner hybrid

It is "generic videogame cover art gun".

Is this just an excuse to have a thread talking about Oni? Because I'm up for that.
Serious nostalgia kick, was a fun game though it started to drag as you played through it.

Remember it having a massive modding community back in the day that did all sorts of stuff for it.

I love this game so much bros, you have no idea.

As for the gun, it looks like MG-3 with some rails slapped on. It's probably just like said, some generic vidya gun art.

Dude. That front end is clearly an M60 flash hider, handguard, and bipod.

I used to love this game but the "how to draw anime" artstyle always bothered me.

      >People still remember Oni
Brings a tear to my eye.
The only creation of Bungie West, and I think the last game by Bungie before the Microsoft acquisition.

As usual, game was shipped before it was done, hence the later levels being tedious running across giant empty spaces to get to the next fight. But still impressive what they were able to do with late-90s CPU power. The 90s techno soundtrack was cool, too.

Such a fun combat system. I loved the game despite the questionable environment design. Can you believe they hired an actual architect to design that shit? Explain to me the archives level and the 200 doors.

        >Can you believe they hired an actual architect to design that shit? Explain to me the archives level and the 200 doors.
That was exactly the problem. The architect designed those buildings for practical purposes rather than making them to host interesting gameplay, and the level designers placed objectives across the map and two/three enemies per long hallway/lobby.
When linear levels are designed based on real world stuff like large buildings, level designers artificially constrain the environment by placing rubble on staircases, making elevators only stop in certain levels, locking doors, etc to allow the illusion of the events taking place on a large setting but at the same time steering you through a tight and focused experience. In Oni? Yeah that building has 200 rooms lol have fun.

She doesn't use any of the guns on the cover in-game.

Can't remember all of what was available: There was a semi-automatic pistol, an uzi, an energy rifle, two different non-lethal guns that worked different ways, a crossbow for sniping that fired bolts of frozen mercury and a grenade launcher that fired projectiles which released a screaming green ghost ball that would track down and kill targets on its own volition.

Also a giant gun the size of your character you could nab off a specific boss enemy character that showed up a couple of times, a bulky chalk-skinned supersoldier dude that was the villains second in command, it was an energy cannon fused with a grenade launcher.

Even the head of the TCTF was an Aramaki rip-off.

Wasn't the whole game basically just a GITS game they didn't want to pay licenses for?

I don't think they ever contacted the license holders, one of the guys working for Bungie watched GITS and thought it was cool, his girlfriend was learning Japanese so he asked her what the Japanese word for "ghost" was and she mistakenly translated it to "Oni" which became the codename for the project. The placeholder name was actually "Mnemonic Shadow" which is a pretty shitty name.
When the project lead was switched, they realized "Oni" is a folklore demon and just used the project codename as the final title. I don't think there's any reference to them wanting to use the GITS license.

no because it's made up and isn't even in the game. you may as well be asking about the Halo guns.

in 2001 it would have been more obscure than it is today. the guy who said that was a super weeb anyway, so of course he'd say something like that.
