Camo

Why don't poorgays just get a set of brown BDUs and throw on different colored leaf/ghille capes and sleeves that they make themselves?
>white for winter
>green for spring and summer
>full brown for autumn
You would really only need one set of BDUs in brown, one pair of white pants and two different ghillie capes (white and green)
Simple as.

You can just get DCUs and BDUs for dirt cheap, poorgays are fine.

      True.
Maybe I'm just autistic but I think brown makes the best base layer for all seasons and ghillie caps and hoods break up your silhouette very well and can be tailored to individual involvements/seasons.
I just got a bunch of UCP for free that I'm going to dye brown and green.

coyote is a good because it's light enough to stain with mud and shit if you need to go darker
I wear greens myself, but lighter colours are really good for base layers

        >I just got a bunch of UCP for free that I'm going to dye brown and green.
I tried and it didn't work well. You need a lot of dye to really saturate it, and it washes out pretty quickly. Most dyes are fricking loaded with reflective materials to make the colors pop, so if somebody has NV you look like a christmas tree

Rit dyed UCP is still IR compliant and I haven't heard of anyone having issues with it.

Sounds like you made a mistake somewhere in the instructions or used shit dye.

Well, how about you try it yourself and report back on it. Or if you have better instructions, maybe you'd care to share them?

              >Or if you have better instructions, maybe you'd care to share them?
Makes sure your water is hot enough.
Use dye that's made for synthetic fabrics.
Rit dye has you add in salt or vinegar for different fabric types.
Add both for UCP as it is a blended fabric.
              Rinse the clothing afterwards.
This what I read and everyone said it worked fine.

That's exactly what I did, not sure why it didn't work.

Well looks like I have some experimenting to do. Good thing I have 4 pairs of UCP that doesn't fit me. Recruits are fricking skin and bone.

Wait, you guys actually wear camo? Lol

Nothing personnel, kiddo but you're going to get yourself killed inna woods.

Buy something with a good net like or make your own, go light on jute and use a frickload of tiedowns. You should aim for 70/30 natural to artificial veg, probably closer to 80/20 (environment dependent). All the 3D leaf/walmart ghillies are shit and will get you busted if your screen isn't good.
You can practice stalks with a buddy if you have a good pair of binos or a spotting scope and a walkie talkie, it's a lot of fun and you'll learn a lot about what really works and what doesn't. Your jute monster ghillie might work in a thick woodline with a good loophole but good fricking luck in an open field of green grass.
It's better to make your own anyway - buy old BDUs or ACUs, sew thick canvas to the chest and thigh areas (for crawling), padding to knees and elbows, and decorative fishing net or 550 cord grids to the back, shoulders, arms, butt, and back of the legs, then add a bunch of 550 cord tiedowns for veg. Shouldn't cost you more than 50$ if you shop smart. Use fishing line for thread and a good stitch, glue down everything with E6000 or shoe goo, then go for a wash in a local muddy pond or a backyard with a hose running to make the shine go away.
Don't forget to make a boonie with a veil for your head, same concept as the body but with the netting hanging down all around.

Nice effort post. I do need some boonies

Ghillie is great used correctly, but it's also just a son of a b***h you use routinely, and it can limit your ability to wear bags, different kit, or can get snagged pretty often.

Best approach in my experience is having a cobra hood in your pack, and a 4'x6' net with tie offs, burlap, and jute also stowed so you can fashion a static hide or an OP of sorts by just propping it up like a tent. (Add a plastic bag or drop sheet to the under side, and it will defeat thermals so long as your body isn't touching it)

You can buy pic related for like 50$ or just crop top an old jacket and sew on a cheap net with like 1-2 inch hole, and suspenders or straps holding it to your belt/rig are helpful too.

Experiment with how much natural vs unnatural filler you want, understanding that burlap, cam net, whatever filler you use will help break up your silhouette, but won't stand up to direct observation well, but you don't have to replace it every 24hrs, or modify it often.
