Let's pretend that ludicrously false "Mossad document" about losses in Ukraine is actually accurate for a second.
This means that even with the ability to curbstomp all of NATO and Ukraine with their most capable and modern forces, Puccia stil decided to send in the worst of the worst and get 18k of his soldiers killed.
Let's also pretend half of them are actually Wagner penal battalions taken from prisons, that's still 9 THOUSAND soldiers dead because what? He didn't want to show his true power like some kind of retarded anime villain?

Old engines have relatively wide tolerances for parts fit + operating conditions and a lot of moving mass relative to their power. They have a much easier time running in spite of surface corrosion, low compression, air leaks, and other age-related mechanical problems. An example I saw was an old Tecumseh OH195 somehow limping along with only 42psi cylinder compression.

The BTR-4 is not the same vehicle or an "upgrade" from the BTR-80, for starters the internal layout is completely different, the engine is located to the front and to the right, allowing troops to disembark from the back, something that is impossible in every single BTR model, troops disembark from side and top hatches, making them more vulnerable to enemy fire
