British press complains about British military [PROPER]

The sunday political editor of The Telegraph, citing various unnamed former british military officers, has decided to re-run a story for slow news days, namely, the perceived issue of a lethality gap in the Royal Navy's surface fleet. Here, the story is that this degrades performance in the Red Sea crisis. Note that The Telegraph has a defence editor, who did not contribute to the article.

    >British warship lack firepower
It’s not exactly a falsehood. Type 45s do lack land attack capability

None of the British press actually knows what its on about when it comes to defence, every vehicle in the army is a tank and every ship in the navy is bad because it isn't multi-role.

The real story with the RN (and really of all of Britain's armed forces) is that it doesn't have enough men to maintain the current size of the fleet and the auxillary fleet and this is a problem that is only going to get worse. If Britain was in a war like Ukraine then it would have lost all 190,000 regulars and reserves. Britain's not even a Tier 1 power anymore, its not even a Tier 2, Poland has an army bigger and better equipped than Britain's MoD, Poland also has an economy soon to be better, the only thing keeping Britain relevant is Trident and the seat on the UNSC both of which are going to be given up this decade making Britain completely irrelevant. If Tusk's government doesn't frick Poland too hard then Poland and France will be the two powers of Europe this decade.

Really? Is this your own estimate or is it official policy? I mean, I know that the dysfunction level in britbongistan is bad, but is it that bad?

Yes it is that bad and its only going to get worse. There's a reason that the army is making announcements that it needs conscription, it has even less of a budget than the navy and is still trying to make the Ajax work when it should have finished the Warrior upgrade package (upgrades first tabled in the 90s) instead of spending £150 million on it before cancelling it.

The most recent head of the foreign office civil service published a book calling for Britain to become a softpower super power but giving up trident and the UNSC, so if he says its publicly then its going to be unofficial internal policy, and the incoming government would support that sort of thing.

There is already a thread up. Weird that these threads are being spammed along with the US Navy 'retreating' from the Red Sea after a missile attack. Almost seems coordinated. But that's me just being a silly little NOTICER.
