Why, because Lockheed and NG are too busy? I don't believe Boeing is actually capable of building current gen aircraft anymore.

Boeing is making the F-15 Eagle II's which are considered 4th gen + which I would still consider "current gen."

They're still building them though aren't they? Don't get me wrong, I'm not simping for Boeing. My brother used to work for Boeing as a machinist, and the assembly plant kept sending a specific part back claiming it didn't fit and was getting damaged during testing. Eventually after the 3rd or 4th time sending a brand new part my brother inspected the damaged parts and realized they were installing the part backwards which caused the part to be damaged when they tested it. After sending it up the chain they flew him out to the assembly plant and sure enough when he crawled up inside the fuselage the part was backwards and they had to take everything apart again for like the 5th time to install it correctly.

NG's working on the B-21 Raider, Lockmart is still on the F-35, that leaves NGAD to Boeing unsurprisingly. Though given the cost there's a chance this is for the companion drones rather than the planes themselves

The Justice Department sued Elon Musk’s SpaceX on Thursday, alleging the company routinely discriminated against refugees and asylum seekers in its hiring process.

According to the lawsuit, SpaceX officials said on numerous occasions between 2018 and last year that it could hire only U.S. citizens and green card holders because of restrictive export control laws which govern the use of rocket and missile technology. The federal government cited several cases in which the company made this assertion publicly and listed citizenship as a requirement in job postings, even though “export control laws impose no such hiring restrictions.”

protected individual includes those ADMITTED AS an asylee or refugee. the lawsuit has an example where the SpaceX hiring officer said the guy had impressive credentials and still denied incorrectly for ITAR. I wouldn't be surprised if this was handed down from musk personally

Citizenship of hostile nation is perfectly fine reason to deny security clearances for sensitive information. >it's ITAR
What the fuck is purpose of ITAR? I guess it has something to do with safeguarding sensitive technologies. There are legit criticism over ITAR like its restrictions causing US companies to lose international contracts. As result some companies go extra mile to remove any military derived tech from their civilian products, that might cost them some money and they might lose some competitiveness on market due to ITAR.
                >unless you're worried about foreign nationals gaining the state secrets of weapon sights
It might have overreach on not exactly high tech products small arms and sights for small arms, but radar or electro-optical targeting systems for fighters something you might want safeguard.

                >I will continue constructing fiction so I can win an argument while misrepresenting it

Security clearances were not and are not the issue, nor was dual citizenship with hostile nations.

National security is perfectly fine reason to treat people as guilty until proven innocent. Even your own citizens with immigrant background and no obvious divided loyalties like dual citizenship. As always... you are screeching about racism.

                >I guess Lockheed-Martin are retarded
Yes, they (and everybody else involved) are retarded for shutting down the F-22 production line. But at least they still have the F-35, and are only updating F-16s for ANG and countries they can't (or are not allowed to) offer F-35s to. What did Boing came up with in past three decades, besides the epic failure that was the X-32 abomination?
                >corporate mergers
are main reason why is Boing so SHIT right now. Everybody competent retired/left, and the shell of company is only living from its (and others) past glory, and fucking up anything they touch.

F-22 might be white elephant when it comes to budget bloat, it still is unrivaled fighter, but cutting the production made sense when it comes to budget. With serious hindsight, whole specification of next generation fighter should have been more seriously thought over in 90's. It is essentially pure air superiority platform, in era of multirole fighters.
                >are main reason why is Boing so SHIT right now.
With hindsight former McDonnell and Hughes aircraft should have been spun off from McDonnell-Douglas and they should have let the commercial aircraft division of MDC die, the former Douglas. Main driving force for Boeing-MDC merger was MDC's entire product portfolio on commercial airline side being about to become obsolete. Douglas started cutting costs in 60's in R&D even before merger with McDonnell.

ITAR is so sensitive they will ask you about Chinese girls you banged at college and prevented people from posting pictures of SLS on the launch pad. It is also not as clear a regulation as people here are implying and even NASA defaults to overreaction to maintain assurance of compliance. I don’t this suit has a chance in hell

You're confusing ITAR with an actual security clearnce. All ITAR needs is for you to be a US citizen or US person, and asylees and refugees count as the latter explicitly under ITAR SpaceX is incorrectly discriminating against the latter based on their bad interpretation of the law that they've kept even as the DOL has started this investigation and got discovery.

National security isn't something that should be compromised to appease hippies with no common sense. Citizenship of hostile nation is perfectly fine reason to deny security clearances for sensitive information. Oh, the China might be bit of hyperbole, but hiring them is literally what you are demanding.

Ethnic Chinese and Indians who have a single parent or two grandparents from China or India shouldn't be hired for sensitive defense matters, regardless of their own resident or citizen status.

I'm an immigrant and even I think it's retarded to have unnaturalized foreigners working in defense industries. Most of us have split loyalties (not always 50/50, never 100/0) because that's human nature and anyone who says otherwise is lying or unironically believes that Bruce Jenner is a chick. The latter must be put to death and their opinions ignored.

Now consider how easy it would be to infiltrate a defense contractor who just got sued by its own government for discrimination against us filthy foreigners. Give your agent a couple fake degrees with really good fake grades, a fake work history, have him "flee" persecution and apply to SpaceX who are now obligated to hire your guy because on paper he's better qualified than everyone except the other foreign agents jockeying for the position. This is some legitimate clown world shit.

                >Spacex isn’t a defense contractor
SpaceX has contracts with the DoD to put satellites in orbit. That is the very definition of a defense contractor. The fact that they work with third parties is irrelevant, and those third parties can hire whomever they want unless they also have contracts with the DoD, in which case ITAR and security clearance standards will apply to said parties as well. Then again I wouldn't expect a retard who can't even write gcode to understand this, so you keep doing your thing and hope that your job doesn't get taken by a thirdie who's used to living on $3/day.

                >I have personally built parts on space x
Lots of people have built parts "on" SpaceX. You can buy cubesat space on most commercial launches. That doesn't mean you work for SpaceX, all it means is your employer made a mistake by hiring you.

We know, by "we" I mean actual human beings, and there are frighteningly few of and seemingly less and less of us every generation.
USA is in a demographic death spiral, the identity politics and constant group fighting is just a wasting symptom of the disease. There's a solution (multiple really) but it is impossible to enact at this point without causing irreconcilable damage worse than letting the degradation happen.
For starters the welfare system in entirety -and- social security retirement needs to be completely abolished.

Anon you have to realize that all of this ridiculous, seemingly nonsensical shit is pushed around by people who think they're saving the world by "dismantling systems of oppression" and "empowering equality and equity." They're horribly broken people who can't actually be considered as having functional human brains, rather some odd fascimile of the mammalian emotional rat response overriding any possible intervention from the higher cortexes.

I always thought that any major security clearance requires you to renounce your dual citizenship and be solely an American citizen. A good example is my dad: born in England, his dad moved over here during the 60s due to the lack of jobs in the aerospace industry. His dad renounced his citizenship for a security clearance to work in one of the many different aerospace companies (back then) in Connecticut. When my dad joined the Navy back in 1984 he had to renounce his British citizenship in order to become an officer. Maybe they’ve changed it since then but that’s the experience related to me. Guess a lot things have changed since Reagan

      >not hiring legal asylum seekers, not illegal immigrants
Lmao so many people clueless ITT.
Those Latinx folk are why the US asylum system has a ten year backlog.
You claim asylum WHEN you illegally immigrate. That’s how it works.

The Chinese are also getting on the border-asylum industrial complex.
      >While some individuals can immigrate through skilled migration or investment-based citizenship programs, others take the irregular route by seeking asylum. 走线 (zouxian, “walking the route”) is an internet term that refer to the act of irregular migration to the U.S. via Latin America by foot. A search for this term on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, yields numerous results of users sharing their experiences and tips related to making this journey.
Chinese who are basically copying the same route Latinx use.
Most are doing it because of lure of cash and China being a shithole, but if any of them got a into an ITAR company they’d just as easily be lured by cash back to China.

      Whole thing is a setup.

        Don't remind me

        >After several rounds of competitive development contracts within the Commercial Crew Program starting in 2010, NASA selected the Boeing Starliner, along with SpaceX Crew Dragon, for the Commercial Crew Transportation Capability (CCtCap) contract round. The first crewed test flight test was initially planned to occur in 2017.
        >The uncrewed orbital flight test launched on December 20, 2019, but after deployment, an 11-hour offset in the mission clock of Starliner caused the spacecraft to compute that "it was in an orbital insertion burn", when it was not. This caused the attitude control thrusters to consume more fuel than planned, precluding a docking with the International Space Station.
        >After a lengthy development process with multiple delays, Boeing flew the Orbital Flight Test 2 on May 19, 2022. As of August 7, 2023 the Crewed Flight Test has been delayed until March, 2024.

Adding lanes usually doesn't help and sometimes makes it worse. When the road is completely saturated in traffic, that means there's even more traffic that's currently going the long way around to avoid that road, but would use that road if the capacity increased. And then you increased the capacity, so now they use that road. The back routes around it might see less traffic, but it itself is not going to improve at all.

              Anonymous

That may be true in some cases(a city with dozens of possible routes increasing the size of their main throughway, for example). But interstates are different because the majority of that traffic is going to take the interstate no matter what.

            Anonymous

State legislature's working on it, I think they've allocated funding to make it three lanes all across the state.

Maybe in a six-lane urban highway, but going from two lanes to three is a significant improvement, not least because when someone wrecks you can still have two-lane traffic.
