It's more to do with its role. It's not a conventional light attack or recon aircraft. It's meant to support special forces only, so it's not operating in high threat environments a lot
One of my neighbors on my old street was this Vietnam vet who had been shot down 3 times in an OH-6, including twice in the same fricking day. Vietnam helo pilots were all dangerously based but frick the scout pilots must have had to strenously fail the mental health evaluation before getting assigned.
Does it need replacement? I mean I don't know if I'd use it as CAS nowadays but as a flying taxi that can land just about anywhere it seems to do a fine job. Maybe strip the guns apart from a single turreted .50 MG with only a modest ammo load and maybe a handful of missiles and replace that weight of ammo/guns with more fuel/sensors/EW goodies to make it a better courier
probably something close to it, but with the capability to use a turret for CAS, maybe a camera setup with a metal front instead to provide a tiny bit more small arms protection.
i mean some of our nutjobs still use it as CAS but they're special, and if we try to give them a helicopter without CAS capabilities they'll pout
The airframes probably need replaced, so the Army could use the chance to upgrade. The reason Blackhawks keep crashing isn't because it's a bad platform, but because most of the airframes are old and beat to shit.
Probably newer production helicopters of the same design and similar specs, anon. There's no real changes to the mission profile for "tiny, cheap, dependable bicycle for SF" yet.
I see them getting a lot better lift/weight ratio and range though, probably gonna be able to carry more dudes and weapons than they did in Iraq.
Probably nothing. It still does what its supposed to, and its been upgraded consistently since Vietnam. How would you even improve it in a way that wouldn't encroach on its strengths? Make it any bigger and you cant fit 8 of them in a C-5. Make it any heavier and its not as maneuverable.
Probably same thing but better sensor/recon suite, better self defense measures, VR/AR helmet for the pilot, remote control capabilities, rudimentary stealth features
More substantial changes would be maybe a coax setup, or fantail like Suggested
There is a lot to make it more capable but as a lot of anons noted, big upgrades make it more expensive or heavy so that kinda goes against the core purpose which it can still do very good
Which is literally just a jetranger with the windows painted over. They did the same with the MD500 too, it doesnt actually replace the role which is light special forces transport

man this is some extreme seethe, recent turrent tosses were that bad for you?
you guys are even more emotionally unstable than trannies, a few things go bad for russia and you instantly start spamming in a rage.
ur mom

She would far exceed the weight class of a light scout helicopter. OPs mom is closer to an Mi-26
Generally surprised this coffin had such a successful service, makes you think if Russian supplied c**ts can't even deal with this.

Nothing, this thing is peak sexy which is one of the primary criteria of U.S. military aircraft.
probably a smaller version of this
rotor are narrow enough to land in city environments
This thing is dead. Sikorsky is going to shelve the tech

Israel made a drone called the Hunter that has all that shit.
>drone
it obviously comes with a e-girl pilot

Sounds like a halfway between a k-car and g-car

A NOTAR or fantail configuration would make it a lot safer to operate in a cramped space so that would be an interesting development

Considering how shit everything is going, I expect they'll replace it with the Robinson R-22 and arm it with water pistols.
OP STOP IT WITH THE LUST PROVOKING IMAGES THIS IS A BLUE BOARD
Drones and spicy cropdusters
My guess, if they don’t build a bespoke helicopter, probably some variant of the UH-72
The world's tiniest tiltrotor
Drones.
It's role is dead because manned recon is worse than unmanned recon.
This shit has already been retired
And replaced by the MQ-8C...

Why are unmanned helicopters always so derpy looking.
Hopefully with something non americuck
