I don't think so it's probabably more fair to say that Collier's and Lefaucheax's patents started the revolver arms race, which quickly roped in others like Colt, Tranter, and Adams.

How easy is it to buy black powder weapons? Sometimes I visited my grandmother in Texas and I wondered what the hell do I need to buy a smith carbine, from what I understand it is not considered a real gun, can I buy it at any gun store or do I have to beg my grandmother to buy it? I don't even plan to use it, I just want to pretend to be a union soldier in my room.
You should wear a half union half confederate uniform split down the middle and sewed together and fight for the right to herd everyone you don't like onto a big plantation then set it on fire.
>wondered what the hell do I need to buy a smith carbine
Money and someone that's at least 18. They are not considered a real gun.
>any gun store
They will be hard to find. They're a niche historical reproduction, most gun stores won't even know what they are. You can mail-order one and have it shipped to your door though, since they're not a real gun legally speaking no special paperwork, gun dealer, etc, is required.

Anyone know what kind of long arms were being used on boats just prior to the Civil War? Like late 1840s-1850s, both civilian and whatever the Navy was up to at the time
I don't know what was in common use by naval forces then as that is way outside my area of expertise, but I do remember some oddball examples.
The book Firearms Curiosa by Winant describes that the Danish navy had "roman candle" type guns he calls an "Espagnole", in use in 1842. These worked like the roman candle firework and were a primitive machine gun. Once you fired it, it would keep firing successive shots without stopping until the gun was empty. These were basically the equivalent of a 50 cal or a 20mm of the day, good for attacking troops on the deck of a nearby ship, or for shooting smaller boats attempting to come alongside.
Far from it, friend. The reloading of black powder firearms is much more step involved. Firstly, measure your powder. Secondly, add your wad. Thirdly, add your ball. Fourthly, ram that all down the barrel. Now, depending on your gun, you will either have to prime a powder pan or put a percussion cap on nipples. Don’t put it on your own nipple or you might have to go to the er.
this looks like the cringe version of the based LeMat. For real though, the Lemat is a wild-design; 9 shots of .42 ball built around a 20 ga shotgun barrel. The only downside is you can't really do a quick cylinder swap.
When will uberti make more guns?
it saddens me we must rely on the italians for so much
When Italy has enough workers to produce at 2019 levels.
So probably never.
What if we poke holes in their condoms?
Did Colt's patents jumpstart the manufacturing of double action revolvers in Europe?

I carried a black powder revolver for a couple of years before I got a modern gun.
why yes I DO like DUPLEX LOADS!!! how could you tell?
Any other revolver rifle Chad's out there?

Please tell me the shotgun function is saved on the lemats and that you can fill half the barrel with powder.
but of course

Both are fricking gay. IRC or a BBS better suits us BP dudes.
How does one get into this stuff? Is it like purchasing a normal firearm?

How the frick does it look like a lemat, it doesn't have a barrel in the center of the cylinder. It looks like any other percussion revolver.
