Meh. You can buy SKS stocks with pistol grips on them so I kinda get what that anon is saying. No point to spend money replacing the stock unless its got a pistol grip or something. Why spend the money on an ugly polymer stock that offers zero improvements over the OG wood one.

Black gear has a tendency to look cheap and tacky, no matter what it is

  8. 10 months ago
    Anonymous

Don't care. If it is cheap and durable, it gets used. If you don't like the color, hit it with a rattle can. End of report.

Utility equipment is utility. Quit worrying about fashion statements; are you dressing to impress other men or are you doing something practical?

This is the ideal body armor vest. Some may not like it, but they've spent too long larping as DEVGRU. Actual armor needs to cover ALL OF YOUR TORSO AND GENITALS. People with micro plate-rigs will die of septic shock after they get shot in the gut and develop peritonitis.

Can still get shot in the ass, leg, arm, face, shrapnel and explosions. Hundreds of tiny metal shrapnel bits and even AP ammo to pierce your plates.

You can carry AP ammo and deliver powerful munitions in jeans and a button-down shirt. You don't need armor to beat armor, and you are lighter and don't look like a paramilitary without it. Even concealed plates would let you conceal yourself in plainclothes, which could make the difference between life and death.

If you look like a hostile paramilitary, you can be very quickly spotted.

If you look like a guerilla, then you just look like a normal American in normal clothes. They cannot tell if you are civilian or insurgent, neutralizing a massive force in its tracks via unconventional war.

This is just scratching the surface of the magical world of guerilla warfare.

Here is John Parker, Patriot and captain, commander at Lexington.

Literally just an everyday American in normal clothes, with three key elements:

        1. Rifle
        2. Courage
        3. Love for your country

That is what you will need.

Cowards can stay home for the war, we don't need them.

We need brave men who love their country.

          Here is Captain John Parker.

Check out his "kit" he has.

Holds his head high, no mask, unashamed and bold.

          He is the everyday American.

He is you, the armed American.

Sprung into history by glorious revolutionary war.

If you are spotted at night by a hostile while armed with mags and plates and NVGs, it might not matter what you are wearing.

In that case, might as well go all out and wear all your gear, if you are hidden by the dark at night anyways. Would be better than throwing it away, especially if you can afford to buy it.

A lot of people either cannot afford level IV plates or would get their plates pierced by standard issue 5.56 green tip or 6.8 pissin hot mystery sauce armor destroying rounds from the magic kraut space computer gun.

Even with the best armor plates, the government can pierce them.

If they can see you with a thermal sensor creepin with your full auto suppressed rifles and 3D printed rocket launcher, they will assume you are a hostile. If you glass them with a thermal clip-on or drone or trail cam from 1000 yards away ahead of time, you've got the drop on em and the advantage, regardless of whether or not they have NVG.

Unless it's the 90s and you've got an OD BDU and you're dealing with some Jaffa that stepped outta line, black probably isn't a good color.

  12. 10 months ago
    Anonymous

As my friend put it "nothing in nature is black". Obviously he didn't mean things like obsidian and panthers, but you won't be in an environment where black outperforms a suitable camoflauge. Even if it's pretty dark out something completely black may catch the eye. It should be reserved for police and security, representative as authority that is made to be seen not concealed.

this is unrelated to the topic but I always wondered why plates didn't extend a little farther below. The guts and the liver are large, blood bearing organs that can cause massive blood loss if they're damaged. I understand they want flexibility in the abdominal region but another couple of inches could make a big difference.

They do offer those groin protectors but I think most people prefer the flexibility over the added protection. In addition I think it's a manufacturing question. It's probably prohibitively expensive to more sizes of both plates and carriers, so that's probably how the situation ended up how it is. But I'm just guessing.

You will choke yourself out when you sit down in an unfit carrier.
If your carrier is too long on the bottom half, your legs will push it up when you bend them

Cringe, as for solid colors, I would say Ranger Green is the best of all, since its a bit of washed out, greish green, it can even be useful not only on innawoods, but also urban, and maybe on some desert areas if your BDU is correct to the location you are in.

Personally I’d say for civvie use your better off with brown/tan solid colors. It’s still very versatile and effective in most environments (including woodland), and with a lot of agencies moving from black to greens in recent years it would be easier differentiating fed or friend
