IRL PLA didn't issue body armor or individual comms until very recently, so if they were properly depicted then they would look starkly underequipped compared to the other factions. Yeah support for PLA's mask is one of those meme ballistic masks that thirdies wear on their tactical teams to make them seem more intimidating. Can't wear a helmet, gas mask, or NODs with them. The trailers, yes, but not the actual chronology of the DLCs. The DLCs implied that america was able to successfully go within china after landing in Shanghai and what not. Along with America being able to go all the way to Pyongyang, north korea. The final stand DLC had America go all the way to the artics and what not.

Overall, I actually really liked the Battlefield Bad Company series' aesthetic choice of the US Military continuing to wear M81 Woodland into the 2000s and 2010s, as it should have been. Honestly, we should have adopted the Close Combat Uniform, it was essentially an ACU cut in BDU/DCU patterns plus Multicam. Would've made everyone happy.

Also "222nd" would never be a battalion designation you would find in the US Army. Army and Marine Corps Battalion designations are almost always numbered 1-3, plus the regiment, as regiments are nominally supposed to have three battalions each.

I thought up an idea once for an origin story to Battlefield 2 where NATO and the dying Soviet Union fight a limited war scale war in the late 80s that results in the USSR's eventual total collapse into civil war (hence why Russia isn't a noteworthy faction in BF2). The United States wins in the end but is left severely economically and militarily drained. Iraq absorbs a lot of military experts and scientists from the collapsed USSR and uses them to successfully defeat Iran, creating the Middle Eastern Coalition, and then some time later conspires with China to launch an all-out war to conquer the Middle East while the Chinese make a grab for Taiwan and Southeast Asia, starting World War III in the BF2 universe. It's retarded but it's better than nothing.

Imagine Bad Company 3, the Russians have invaded, but the Russian army is as incompetent in that fight as it is in Ukraine.
Bad Company was always a much more comedic spin of the franchise, so it fits way better than a more serious take on the idea, which had already been done by CoD.
And even if the Russians are all fuckups, you could still spend an entire campaign evicting them from American soil, and have the last level be about some nutso superweapon they're trying to use to win the war anyway.

It always bugged me that all of their kit was innacurate, either that or not standard equipment.
I get that the Chinese guys were very different from their real life counterparts and moreso inspired by police forces, but there's no excuse for the US and Russia
Theyre not that bad. Theyre marsoc, and theyre pretty close to what marsoc were wearing at the time. Grenade belts in particular, while an issued item, are something that marsoc seemed to use extensively relative to other SOF and conventional units The Russians aren't that inaccurate either, this was pre-ratnik standardization and it was common for your SOF-adjacent units to use aftermarket gear. Smersh rigs, sniper hoods, third party gorkas, etc. VDV guys who crosstrained in the US circa 2013 all wore Partizan camo suits, for example.
MARSOC wore woodland because they were in charge of training several Afghan special forces units who wore them. Makes no sense to use them in China or whatever

Sure you could, the 416 was originally just an upper replacement for M4 lowers before it was a complete rifle and remains totally compatible. No particular need for it now though, the perceived issues with the M4 were resolved with the PIP upgrades in ~2010 so putting on 416 uppers would give you the same gun but heavier.

Aside from the camo, the BF4 PLA is pretty much completely fictional. IRL PLA didn't issue body armor or individual comms until very recently, so if they were properly depicted then they would look starkly underequipped compared to the other factions. Considering the ballistic masks, black uniforms, riot pads and S10s, they probably are inspired more by Police units like Beijing SWAT or Hong Kong SDU, who tend to be much better equipped than the PLA.
Bf4 faction is actually just chinese spec ops from the campaign. Originally, they were about to include regular PLA, but scrapped that idea because they didn't want to anger China(which failed lol). All bf4 factions are essentially mass mobile spec ops.

Along with America being able to go all the way to Pyongyang, north korea. The final stand DLC had America go all the way to the artics and what not.

Overall, I actually really liked the Battlefield Bad Company series' aesthetic choice of the US Military continuing to wear M81 Woodland into the 2000s and 2010s, as it should have been. Honestly, we should have adopted the Close Combat Uniform, it was essentially an ACU cut in BDU/DCU patterns plus Multicam. Would've made everyone happy.

I always had a headcannon that since the 222nd and bad company are the fuckups and dispensable, they get a bunch of old shit. Its why marlowe wasnt sent to jail, just sent to the meatgrinder
222nd Battalion is basically an Americanized version of the Strafbataillon and Shtrafbat concept, so you're probably right, although it's bit strange that they get HK416s and XM8s when the former was uncommon, even in USSOCOM, in the same time period, and the latter never even made it past the prototype phase.
Also "222nd" would never be a battalion designation you would find in the US Army. Army and Marine Corps Battalion designations are almost always numbered 1-3, plus the regiment, as regiments are nominally supposed to have three battalions each.
Examples:
3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment (3/1 Marines)
1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment (1-506th Inf)
2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment (2/75 Rangers)
And so on...

I thought up an idea once for an origin story to Battlefield 2 where NATO and the dying Soviet Union fight a limited war scale war in the late 80s that results in the USSR's eventual total collapse into civil war (hence why Russia isn't a noteworthy faction in BF2). The United States wins in the end but is left severely economically and militarily drained. Iraq absorbs a lot of military experts and scientists from the collapsed USSR and uses them to successfully defeat Iran, creating the Middle Eastern Coalition, and then some time later conspires with China to launch an all-out war to conquer the Middle East while the Chinese make a grab for Taiwan and Southeast Asia, starting World War III in the BF2 universe. It's retarded but it's better than nothing.
Imagine Bad Company 3, the Russians have invaded, but the Russian army is as incompetent in that fight as it is in Ukraine.
Bad Company was always a much more comedic spin of the franchise, so it fits way better than a more serious take on the idea, which had already been done by CoD.
And even if the Russians are all fuckups, you could still spend an entire campaign evicting them from American soil, and have the last level be about some nutso superweapon they're trying to use to win the war anyway.

It always bugged me that all of their kit was innacurate, either that or not standard equipment.
I get that the Chinese guys were very different from their real life counterparts and moreso inspired by police forces, but there's no excuse for the US and Russia

Theyre not that bad. Theyre marsoc, and theyre pretty close to what marsoc were wearing at the time. Grenade belts in particular, while an issued item, are something that marsoc seemed to use extensively relative to other SOF and conventional units The Russians aren't that inaccurate either, this was pre-ratnik standardization and it was common for your SOF-adjacent units to use aftermarket gear. Smersh rigs, sniper hoods, third party gorkas, etc. VDV guys who crosstrained in the US circa 2013 all wore Partizan camo suits, for example.
MARSOC wore woodland because they were in charge of training several Afghan special forces units who wore them. Makes no sense to use them in China or whatever
Why not? Chinas half green. Besides, the player character is wearing multicam and the team leader is wearing tigerstripe, so personal flair is clear a factor.

i have played both 3 and 4 and bf3 has way more camo variety, including some weird stuff like desert tiger stripe, ucp delta and many russian knockoffs of HATO camos
also chink camos in bf4 suck, they all look like hecu from half life 1

These characters all carry 300+ rounds in game and yet they barely have any mags on person. I just put together a kit with 9 mags + 1 in gun and it looks ridiculous, I'm covered in mags.

I really don't want to end up a meme. They're all AK mags so it looks excessive. I have a 3 mag shingle so could add the kangaroo pouch now, and kinda want to order another drop leg for the lulz. They can even fit 3 mags so 17 total, and none of these are even double mag pouches... yet.
You're not going to get any helpful advice without being able to see what we're working with.

Tip: often, soldiers carry 3-5 mags easily available on their gear plus another 5-6 in a small pack with their extra food, water etc.
All the servers I see have US vs US because nobody wants to be chinks or vatniks

Im an SPAA main on BF4 ngl, I like to stay behind a column of tanks and piss of jets and helis with the 20mm. Often times I force them to drop JDAMs from extremely high, still counts as helping the team cause they cant do shit from up there

Multicam looking plate carrier with combat shirts, battle belt and crye looking pants. You could buy this shit from basically anyone. Plate carriers have a bit more soft material but doesn't look like it is an iotv with kevlar inserts.

Sure you could, the 416 was originally just an upper replacement for M4 lowers before it was a complete rifle and remains totally compatible. No particular need for it now though, the perceived issues with the M4 were resolved with the PIP upgrades in ~2010 so putting on 416 uppers would give you the same gun but heavier.
BFBC was made before the M4 PIP, so it probably made more sense then with a few googles

Alot of the time, the government gets the tab or companies donated to them.
Most of that stuff was issued to SOF 10 years ago. He might have bought the boots, gloves and fastmag himself. Carrier could be private purchase depending on the unit.

I love the engie design in BF4 but it pissed me off so much that the launcher you had equipped or the mines didnt appear on the world model like in BF3
