So if you had to clear your own house and your optic was a 3x, you wouldn't be held back at all?

No not really, you open both eyes and basically tell your brain you want to see image with your other eye and reticle with shootin eye

It's called the bindon aiming concept, https://www.trijicon.com/our-story/bindon-aiming-concept
I still rather prefer using a 1x optic for close quarter situation but you can make due with that aiming method.

It looks like the mos pattern is for the RDS adapter plate to mount on top of the prism optic. I guess it is trying to be as modular as possible and using the glock mos adapter plates to mount all the footprints (rmr, shield, doctor, etc) for these miniature red dots.

Tilting your rifle to the side is quicker than raising your head and you don't lose your cheekweld. The only reason to want a top mounted RDS is for passive aiming with NVGs.

At the ranges you'd be using the red dot, you literally just relax your traps a bit and you have a usable sight picture on whatever butthole just jumped out in front of you
      it's fine

Most people have a lot of muscle memory for the action of readying their rifle. Usually their head defaults to the height needed for immediately looking through the scope. Then they shift to the top mounted sight. Since you don't have a cheekweld it can be harder to find the dot than when the rifle is tilted to the side.

So train to default to the stacked dot with a looser cheekweld then drop to the magnified optic if the target is further away and you have the time and need the magnification.

      >Tilting your rifle to the side is quicker
You're not really changing between the two on the fly. That's exclusively a sport shooting thing.
      >The only reason to want a top mounted RDS is for passive aiming with NVGs.
And to not have extra shit hanging off the side of your rifle. If you don't carry a rifle this part isn't obvious. The reason the started bending bolt handles isn't because they're nicer to use, it's so you don't fricking have a bolt handle hanging out there snagging on shit.
      >cheek weld
The punishing recoil of 5.56 really needs perfect cheekweld to maintain sight picture at red dot distances, doesn't it? Preach sister.

You can passive aim with 45 degree offset too if you use a 1.93'' height riser, pic rel.

What video is this from? I can't find any info on this mount, is it brand new? I've watched a few shot show videos and no one at the primary arms booth has covered this thing
