Isn't Belgium the only country that actually adopted this as a standard service rifle so they could drop the FNC? I think anyone else using this is special operations or police.
Funny because US SF only liked the Heavy and not the Light
That was a minor problem in the first mk17s
Mk16 big problem was spent brass getting stuck in the upper
There's a based ex GB who played a part in the armys trials on YT who can explain it better
nagger
That and the reciprocating bolt, which has finally been fixed. No more Scarbite
Combination of the heavy bolt slamming forward creating a unique forward impulse (much like some airguns could kill rifle optics) and the receiver extrusion acting as a tuning fork for the harmonics.
All the serious brands of lights, lasers and optics with mil contracts reworked their stuff to be "SCAR-ready", and FN's new SCAR receiver design has a web connecting the sides on the bottom of the upper to prevent the vibrations.
it fucking kills vcogs and nightforces even. elcan specters have a reputation for being tough because they don't break while on scars. from what I understand optics are rated for backwards recoil, not the impact of a heavy bolt slamming forwards

The SCAR has been a massive success. For a gun that was only intended to be used by a few thousand Socom personnel, it has more than paid for itself. Of the new rifle designs of the last 20 years, it would be in the top 5 most successful (service rifle of 3 countries, DMR of at least 5), accompanied by the 416 (service rifle of at least 5 countries), Tavor (standard rifle of 5+ countries and a large number of special units), Ace (at least 6) and Bren (3 so far, also popular with cops). They all pale compared to the M4, but thats in a league of its own.

I'm like 100% sure that the SCAR was meant to be a candidate to fully replace the M4. FN does not design entire new rifles to be used by a handful of special units. You put in that kind of R&D to shoot for large contracts, unless you are literally braindead.
>Stop buying cheap shit then
Anon there's a reason EOTech used to mount the batteries in line with the bore and now they have the batteries perpendicular.
Even the expensive shit battered itself to death with the SCAR H.
>it is made of aluminium, so it overheats very quickly >a collimator in combut, during movement, usually falls out
holy crap russian technology is 2 centuries behind the west.
One of the complaints I heard from veterans who saw combat in the middle east is that the enemy would visually identify their weapons, assess the range and shoot at them with high powered rifles from outside of their range. So, while that's a cool gun OP, I think a service rifle would benefit from a longer effective range, nothing wrong with a longer barrel.
I've always those were ugly guns but that extra long barrel with the tiny suppressor looks really. It's definitely the best looking variant I've seen, not that you give a fuck what I think.

Poo-tugal has it.
SCAR never really took off because it kept killing optics
That was only the Heavy, the Light didn’t kill optics.

how does it kill optics when non-shit optics are tested for ridiculous G-forces?

yeah well the M16/M4 has had decades of the US throwing money at it.

It didn't take off because it wasn't a significant step above M4A1s made at the time

>knockoff beats the original
The one that kills the most russians
fuck off nafotroon, you're so last Friday
Post hands
Post guns
HATO rifle weak and degenerate like tranny!
reminds me of that

416 video somehow

xaxa hato so poor they make rifle from beer cans
Man, those russians really hate optics, don't they?

That's one of the reasons behind the XM7 and XM157 combo to enable soldiers to engage more precisely at higher ranges
Kind of an unrelated question, but does any country use .308 as a standard rifle caliber?
fins just adopted a 308 ar as a standard rifle, some turd worlders still use g3 and fals
Turks
Best rifles would be ones that could be made in retooled small scale machine shops across your country.
FAMAS
Who gives a fuck what "people" who post here think?

The fn scar is expensive mediocrity.
There is NOTHING that the SCAR platform does better than the AR platform does at 2/3rd of the price.
