Best lever action .22?

I've decided I want a lever action .22 rifle. Who makes the best one?

I fingerfricked one at LGS when I was looking for a lever action .22, ended up buying a used Win 94-22 for about the same price, so go figure...

I liked the takedown feature idea, but found out it wasn't really well executed, when you take the stock with right sideplate off, it exposes all the internal parts and honestly, those looked cheaply made and quite flimsy, like if you just tossed the two halves in your backpack, you would bent, crack or lose some parts and made the rifle inoperable.
The loose, wobbly fit then caused trouble with reassembly, when the rifle got stuck in half-opened position and it took about 15 minutes of concerted effort to get it working again. After that the shop clerk just said something like "I figure you're not taking this one, right?" It was a pity, I really wanted to like that rifle.

pump action is better for .22

No reason why he couldn't own all four common actions if he wanted to. 1 pump, 1 lever, 1 bolt, and 1 semi auto.

        >no wheelgat carbine
You have demoralized me. Not sure I want to live anymore.

Side-Note: So, why the frick isn't there a 9- or 11-shot .22 mag. wheelgat carbine? I didn't know I needed this nut until just now. Please don't tell me Im'ma be blue-balled forever on this ...

Why not, you don't need to buy all four at the same time, just get one at a time and eventually you'll have the perfect collection of .22 firearms.

      >pump
      >anything besides a shotgun
Technically, you're correct. Esthetically, you're fricking wrong. Rifle cartridges are meant to be fired semi/full auto, bolt, lever, and single/double action. Pump is reserved specifically for shot and slug. .410 is a Mongoloid cartridge good for shooting squirrels and feral cats.

Yes but you're ignoring the real value of lever-action, that it makes you feel like a cowboy.

Best gun in the game for sure. But they make you feel more like youre gallery shooting at a carnival, rather than a real cowboy.

Another Henry. I want one so bad. I don't know why. It even comes in .22 mag IIRC.

I have both a 22mag lever and a 22lr lever, the 22lr gets wayyy more use, 22mag costs as much as 9mm where i am, three to four times as much a 22lr. The mag is basically only used for killing marmots.
Also, 22mag tends to be quite loud, so i dont think it would be a great pick for a can.

You don't think so? Figured it was pushing it, that sucks. Hunting foxes with no earpro would be nice. Hunting squirrels and groundhogs without earpro with my .22 is the greatest thing; you can hear everything going on instead of "is that close or far" and "what fricking direction is that actually coming from" with electronic earpro on.

          >without earpro with my .22 is the greatest thing; you can hear everything going on
Yupp, i can't really speak of cans because they arent legal here, but thankfully 22lr has some loadings so quiet they can be fired without them or earpro, like aguila colibris, cci cb's, cci quiets. Not disturbing pets/neighbours/livestock etc too is a nice plus.

I hunt with Aguila 38gr supersonic. I find that it's just on the edge of hearing safe. No ringing. Nothing uncomfortable about it and I have sensitive ears...probably still doing damage on range days though knowing my luck. Ironically the Sniper Subsonics are actually louder, go figure. THOSE made my ears ring silenced. But yes CCI quiet and colibris are silly.

Whoops, I hunt with Aguila 38gr supersonic with a silencer. Don't shoot that without a silencer with no ears; it will probably hurt, lol.

Which one of you fricked the gun?

Agreed. Browning BL-22 is a really nice rifle, solid all steel construction, Have handled one, the short-stroke action was smooth and fast, nice fit and finish, felt solid in hands. Nice little details like having a button catch on the magazine follower instead of bayonet lock. A bit pricey, though.

Also can recommend getting a used Winchester 94-22. All-steel construction as well and bluing on mine is yummy. Runs pretty good, too.

Have an early winchester 94/22m, unfortunately it's bluing isnt doing so great, shes got some rust, went decades without ever being cleaned or oiled.

          Anonymous

I was lucky to get one with just a few minor nicks and worn spots in the finish. It's blued-over-polished and the finish looks deep, with a nice bluish hue, gives it that "they don't make them like this anymore" feeling...

I have to admit that while I shilled for the Browning, it has one major drawback over the Winchester and that is disassembly and reassembly. The 94-22 is quite easy to take apart and put back together while the BL 22 absolutely requires a clean table, some tools, knowledge, fine motor skills and calm, patient approach, especially at reassembly.
