AR gives you 30 chances to not fuck up vs a shotgun's 5-8. The only time I'd consider using a shotgun over an AR is if you live in the middle of nowhere and bears are a bigger concern, or in a naggerhive city that will crucify you for using an AR at all. In the latter, I would probably get a mini 14 over a shotgun.
I have had a 5.56 shot next to me in a hallway. Lost my hearing for a few hours but it wasn't that bad. The risk of an actual home invasion doesn't necessitate a suppressor imo. Might have been worse if it wasn't one shot but 3-4 ig
Yes it stacks, but I wonder how much having on average zero, to possibly one, home invasion scenarios stacks when most are over in between 1 and 4 shots

I've seen folks in the military get long term health issues from a single exposure.

Body armor is publicly available.
I have level IV ceramic plates in the plate carrier in my closet right now.
However, body armor only covers so much, and someone with a weapon that won't pen armor has probably thought of that.
We have gone back to the Medieval era practice of aiming for gaps.

I'll consider the armor piercing capabilities of my HD loadout when I hear of a home invasion where the perp was wearing body armor.
(Then I'll keep using 5.56 M193 because it can pen anything up to cheapo "level III" steel plates and nothing I can realistically bring to bear at home will pen real level IV anyway.)
Aug since bullpup ergos don't effect home defense, shotguns probably look better in court since one buckshot will induce a physical stop whereas it might take multiple 556
I own both
The age old debate was settled over 100 years ago. The best gun for home defense is the one you have and are competent with. There's cases of people being killed with. 22lr pistols and surviving full bore rifle shots.
You'll want to take every gun you have and arrange them in a 360 saw/moe syzslak scenario where the triggers are all set off at once via some rube goldberg contraption that you activate with your toe, thus hitting your brain stem from different angles. I have thought about this a lot
High powered revolver. Meant to take out bears. Loud as hell to alert the neighbors. Less likely to jam. Easy maneuverability in close quarters. You don't want a rifle because they can pop out the corner and wrestle it out of your hands. If it's a pistol, it should be high capacity and fired from your chest level to make sure they can't grab it from you. Definitely do not use a flashlight, only a laser if you must.

AR in pistol calibers

AR the shotgun HD meme is fuddlore
AUG
uh... why not both? and maybe in AR10 in .308 or some other battle rifle because communists fear the .308
and a revolver in a fuck you caliber
PCC in a Pistol setup is goated for home defense
Why are PCCs shilled? I get overpen but if you live in an area where that's not a concern what's your reason to use a pistol caliber at all?
Shooting a rifle in the hallway without earpro is not fun, and some people can't/won't get a can.

Congratulations, you irreversibly lost a fraction of your hearing.
Protip: it stacks.

suppressed AR with subsonics is best.
easy to shoot. lots of shots. fast reload. effective on target. won't blow out your ears.
>5.56 subsonics
>in a semi auto
Ask me how I know you don't actually own a suppressed AR.
He didn't specify caliber
.300 blkout suppressed is probably the best home defense setup
Is suicide consider as home defence?
Im killing the man, who wanna kills me
Shotguns are great and ARs are overrated by dorks who want to validate their purchases.
I have both.
Would grab the shotty.

Is AR or shotgun best for putting in my mouth and blowing my head off so I don't have to see this age old debate ad nauseum, forever??

>is AR or shotgun best for home defense??
The correct answer is "Yes".
If you are smart and put a suppressor on it, AR.
If you don't have or won't get a suppressor, shotgun.

idk what to tell you if they're wearing body armor, maybe don't piss off the military?
