BEST FIGHTER JET ON EARTH?

In my opinion, the Chengdu J-20, also known as Mighty Dragon, is the greatest all-weather stealth fighter aircraft on Earth. It absolutely mogs both the F-22 AND the F-35. And it would BTFO even the Su-57 if more than 5 existed.

The J-20 is limited by its poor engines performance. The air intakes are pretty much the same as the J-10B.

And the Su-57 is just a bad LO aircraft, not really stealth.

This. While there’s no true requirements for 5th generation aircraft stealth is the one that most people agree on. The j20 is really just using its shapes for LO but supposedly no true RAM coating. Without RAM coating, you’re just an f18 hornet, as that also has geometry built into make it LO. One other aspect is communication and networking. Judging at how Russia is doing China probably lacks any substantive advanced comms as well
        >Tl;dr
The J20 is a 4.5th gem aircraft at best, realistically just a 4th gen

For obvious reasons chinks have far better electronics than russia and AESA radars on service. China also has far better machinery than russia. And they have a long term commitment backed by billions-dollar budget to develop the metallurgy and manufacturing of modern blade turbines. It's easy to see in the smokeless engines (compared with russia) that China makes and in the lifespan of their engines. They're trying to be on par with the west instead of russia that sells engines that lasts barely 500-1500 hours and still smokes.

The J20 is definitely a stealth aircraft far more closer to the F-35 in regard to RCS and sensors than to the obsolete Su-57. It has problems tho, it's still using the underpowered WS-10 engines.

            Anonymous

Also, even if China is trying to develop reliable engines they still have certain dependence for russian engines for some of they aircrafts. But all the futures developments and the basis of new engines are their own development that have influency of (copy) western engines not russian (they tried coping soviet engines but in the end the core of the CFM56 is the basis for their engines).

At the risk of getting called a vatBlack person, Russia was on its way to developing AESA at pace with China but the electronics embargoes over the past half decade plus is what set them back. Basically it’s not really that China is superior just that they are able to source more components. Where I’m going with this is that China is more on par than you realize capabilities wise, so, production rates and equipment quantity not withstanding, we can get a good gauge of how well Chinese weaponry would work based on how (poorly)whatever low quantity of Russian equipment performed in Ukraine

              Anonymous

              >Russia was on its way to developing AESA
Russia has been developing AESA radars new rocktes (totally independent of ukraine industry), thermal senors, semiconductors, supercruiser engines, drones, T-95/T-14 armata, etc since the 80s. But all of them are in the endless development hell.

              >China is superior just that they are able to source more components.
Yeah, having budget, HR and real parts is important, see the 5G conflict over china. Meanwhile russia dont have any local capabilities. The brain drain, corruption and dutch disease completely killed russia.

Also, most of the equipment of china is from the 90s and newer, russia still uses mainly upgraded 1980s tech. Hell, even iran has more commitment to newer military doctrines.

The problem of china is that probably (as sayd per military analysts) they're still mediocre in real war. The best gauge for chinese weaponry will be africa.

Aye, though unfortunately it's doubtless that the supply chain for its components is ruthlessly fraught with corruption and theft.

Every story I've heard from someone involved directly in procurement with mainland Chinese companies is that you basically have to be right next to them, constantly going over everything with the liaison over and over again while everything is being done or they WILL casually stiff you and give you, say, a roll of one quarter inch thick steel plate instead of one eighth inch aluminum and other things of that nature. While there is no doubt that there are engineers in China capable of constructing a stealth aircraft, especially with all the data they've stolen from foreign research organizations and corporations over the years, it is unlikely that their internal network can get over its own flaws to supply the parts that would allow it to function as claimed.

This is the real issue with authoritarian/corrupt societies. There's a saying that everything the Tsar watches works perfectly, but his gaze cannot cover everything. They can choose to focus and nail down a certain number of issues/focus points, but not everything can be micromanaged. This trick is that any few of their military assets could function well and as advertised, like the J20, but others may not (like simple military logistics). This has become even more clear in the Ukrainian War.

The Rafale, is fully the equal of the F-35, Su-57 and J-20 as a fifth generation fighter. Like the KF-21, it is a 4.5 gen with development potential to be further upgraded to fifth gen. That is why many countries, such as India, Indonesia, Qatar and the UAE which have requested F-35s or were looking at other fifth gen options like the Su-75 and KF-21, are now Rafale users.

The Eurogay Typhoon meanwhile remains a 4-4.5 generation aircraft with no further development potential, and the countries who are using it primarily (UK, Italy, Spain etc) are all F-35 users and have no incentive to develop it further

Rafale is a fifth generation aircraft

The rafale isn't really 5th gen, and even if it were a 5th gen it would be the worst one, since it isn't supermaneuverable or very stealthy. There is a need for a new design, and for more drones and rafales. Unfortunately you need loads of money to do that, and the french army isnt gonna get it any time soon. French pilots are good, but thats about it. We have our own satelites, but it won't replace drones, and unfortunately we don't have cheap drones. The french air force isn't in good shape, and neither are the other branches. The shills are trying to distract you away from the quality of US and bong systems, in order to demoralise you. They will shill anything to erode the reputation of anything that isn't Nato. Notice however that they won't shill against Roachland.

This but unironically. French decision to develop active stealth instead of passive stealth like F35 benefit Rafale in the long run. They don't need sacrifice anything to make airframes more stealthier and Rafale doesn't need expensive maintenance to preserve stealth coating. And ECM and EW can easily be upgraded without changing anything much.

ECM, EW, Jamming capability. F-35 also have this ability and probably better. But Rafale can improved it further with minimal cost.

It’s ability to fly at speeds that make the XB-70 and SR-71 blush while outclassing an entire carrier group in firepower with its 6 railgun launched ramjet shell guns AND hypersonic missile tubes. And that’s without mentioning it’s ability to seamlessly connect to dozens of satellites ready to fire tungsten rods at any target 24/7. How can anyone hope to beat the Kiwis?
