Soulless. I hate ARs, the Legos of the gun world. The only 9nes I actually like are the old school ones. I'm not saying they are bad guns... Just utilitarian and utterly boring.

I like how the publication is called Armi e Tiro instead of Armi e Cartucce

AR-15's have an overwhelming amount of SOVL by virtue of 60 years use in conflicts around the world. AK's lost their SOVL after 50 years of imitating AR-15's

If you need your gun to have a personality, then it's a crutch for not having your own. Price to performance for a given purpose is the only factor that matters.

You can have a personality in spite of your taste in guns. But having bland taste in guns is a reflection of a bland personality. Like a person who prefers mush for dinner

Not the same guy, but the only rifle i own is AR, and i know it's objectively a good, if not the best choice. It's very accurate, light, adaptable, reliable, and you can get very decent ARs for not much money. My only complain could be that it's not as bombproof as i would like it to be, but it's absolutely good enough.

That being said, it's like wearing a casio, driving a toyota, drinking bud lights, having a golden retriever and never being abroad, except for a short trip to Paris. There is nothing really wrong with each of those things, everyone can live their lives within their means and as they see fit, but there is so much more to living than always choosing the most cost effective, tested options that have the best ratings once you google them. I know polymer framed pistols have lot of advantages over steel, but steel feels much nicer, classier, more trustworthy. I know a used prius would be a sensible option, allow me to save lots of money in a long run, but i love my Giulia like you wouldn't believe. For the same amount of money as a trip to Paris, London and Rome you could spend a year in South America and snort a lines with hookers in every capital city.

This is true, and why I use DI but militaries are going to care more about the reliability under adverse conditions. With a piston gun you can crank up the gas and power through bullshit.

Northern yuro countries like Estonia and Norway want piston ARs because DI shits the bed in freezing cold. When you go back and forth from the cold outdoors to a warm tent or vehicle, it can create condensation that may freeze the rifle shut if you go back out into the cold again. Watch Garand Fag's ice test videos where the AKs and Steyr AUG performed fine while the DD and KAC ARs locked up.

Yet the 416 died. The FCG is what freezes on the AR. A piston won't change that.

did you watch the video? it literally passed the 'realistic' test: https://youtu.be/LbjpIP5ShH0?t=683 (416 timestamp)
it only failed when he dumped an entire bottle of water on gun which is just not going to happen in real warfare, and the issue was the trigger/safety stopped working. I imagine in realistic situations if you just left a round chambered it would break through any small amounts of condensation that froze. The whole dumping a water bottle on a gun then saying "look at how bad it is" thing is silly. Just like how pouring a bucket of mud on an AR then saying "it's the best gun ever" because it still works is silly

Yeah so did the DI gun. Piston mcx went down hard, sr-15 and urgi failed the same way the 416 almost did due to the ejection port. That alone proves the rest isn't repeatable but it does show all ar patterned guns have fcg issues just as I stated.

They didn’t sell well. They tried to push them as an alternative to an AR for home defense but never offered them with the collapsible stock or muzzle devices. They should have pushed them hard in California due to their ability to accept traditional stocks. I know they’re still reasonably popular in Canada as both hunting and defensive rifles.

I own one, it’s very high quality, utterly reliable, and just a little heavy. The ergos are a little odd, but not terrible, and definitely fast enough once you get used to them. Mine is a 1.0 MOA gun with .223, but only a 2-3 moa gun with 5.56. Go figure.

I heard the accuracy with sustained fire is not that great because the barrel is pencil thin. First shot is on target but second third and fourth start to drop if you do it without a few seconds in between. Consecutive shots heat up the barrel and cause it to bend ever so slightly. I love the way it looks though, and Benelli is quality. Would’ve loved to own one with a heavy barrel.

            Anonymous

            >2nd and 3rd drop

No. In the first place I can’t think of a barrel that would possibly heat up that quickly. That's just silly. In the second place mine keeps a 10 round group inside 2” if I do my part with no problem. I would say the barrel starts to open up the groups after two 30 round magazines in reasonably quick but most pencil barrels will anyway. Shit, most barrels of heavier profiles will too.

Where do no guns get these odd perceptions?

Piston ARs have a long history of not being reliable, finicky and prone to failure. Piston designs by pure respect of cycling back and forth has more room for hiccups. Springs, gas channels and gas vents demand ample room to move and work their magic. A 20" piston AR could definitely work and be reliable. Problem stems from taking that Piston concept and SLAMMING it down to fit an 11.5" AR barrel.

piston guns have been proven and are better than DI ARs in short barreled applications
It may have been finicky when a bunch of smaller american companies were trying to convert DI BCGs to piston to cash in on the HK416 hype train, but most of the surviving designs made by bigger companies today (HK, LMT, PWS, LWRC) have had those kinks worked out.

Flip flop between DI and Piston. Piston designs on ARs just don't work. AR was invented with DI solely in mind, frankensteining them to be Piston keeps running into problems. Not even the AR's inventor, Stoner could get Piston ARs to work right. Piston guns need more space, more room to mechanically function. Trying to jam that into the short small AR handguard with a DI slim like profile just doesn't work.
