I looks fun. You are there in the border doing nothing and Dimitri came with his new Amazon drone and you decide to spend your shift trolling belarusian guards. It's healthy fun.

Yeah it's all fun and games until someone attaches a mortar round to the drone and flies it straight at them.

What were the Belarusians doing that made them so interesting that they were worth sending a drone out for video? Were they discharging military weapons into Ukrainian air space? That doesn't sound very friendly.

I give those guys credit for form, though. If they were going to have even a chance, laying back to fire upward is nearly the only option.

Personally the lack of Ukrainian war crimes frustrates me. I think POWs should be mutilated so they can no longer perform labor (forefinger + thumb amputated) and be sterilized so even their basic male function is obviated forever. Also, I have no problems with Russian civilians being targeted, especially adult women. Gotta kill the sows before they shit out more.

            Anonymous

And achieve what? Ziggers are already torturing and mutilating ukrainian POWs as it is, they're gonna ape out hard if Ukraine escalates.
Best they can do is occasional war crimes here and there and hope it won't leak to public.

Based border guard. I hate these fricking useless guys at the Ukrainian-Polish border as they mostly seem to bureaucrats causing unnecessary trouble but those guys stationing at Belarus/Russian-Ukrainian border seems like entirely different bread. Once I had to spend two nights jumping through hoops and filling tons of documents because one of these homosexuals have noticed two thermal drones and a bunch of radio comms in my car's trunk that I have (obviously) not declared. The guy on the video seems like I just could tell him that I'm bringing these drones to kill more Russians, and we would have a laugh about it.

To be fair you could be bringing them in with the intention of doing partisan shit. I'm sure the border guard on the Belarusian border would be angry as well if you tried to bring that shit in.

Bringing it into Russia though? He'd laugh, give you a tourniquet and send you on your way.

Blah blah. I had papers for some other (less problematic) stuff for ZSU. Declaring things only causes problems at the border. I stopped doing this entirely.

Why does no one get out a shotgun? Or is the drone too far out for it to be of any effective use?

      >What were the Belarusians doing that made them so interesting that they were worth sending a drone out for video?
It's probably a Ukie Border Patrol drone that wandered too far over the border while doing a routine sweep and the Belarusians were sent out to either shoot it down or to shoo it away somehow

from what i've heard they don't want to go to ukraine. and apparently they would be nowhere near ready to do so, since their budget is negligible and they're mainly used to protect potato's regime from the opposition, kinda like the russian rosgvardia

Lukashenko hasn't joined the invasion fully because he knows that his army will beat the shit out of him if he deploys to ukraine.

      Anonymous

They're loyal as long as they can sit on their asses and magdump into air. If Luka orders them to invade they may turn on him or just surrender instantly after crossing the border. Pretty sure thereäs also internal military force, like rosgvardiya, that are loyal, but they won't get sent to Ukraine.

      Anonymous

Colonel Potato has surrounded himself with a fairly loyal core, and fairly substantial. However, they are a minority of the military and the people. A significant amount of the military is loyal to Belarus, which is why monke had to send in his stormtroopers a few months before he invaded Ukraine. Colonel Potato would already have been Gaddafi'd if monke hadn't saved his bacon.

      > tl;dr -- Belarus has partisans and a partisan movement, a substantial number of whom have been receiving training and experience Ukraine. They are headed back. Belarus is probably going to get pretty fricking hot in the close future.

      >How loyal is the Belarusian military to Lukashenko?
Unknown for certain, but widely speculated to be low. Belarusian military have been involved in sabotaging logistics aiding the Russian invasion. A large contingent of former or current Belarusian soldiers are fighting in Ukraine against Russia.
      >Would they kill Ukrainians for him or Putin?
The general consensus is that, unless Ukraine performs an act of infamy against Belarus or invades, then the military will not cooperate with attempts to get them to fight Ukraine.
      >How’s their relationship with the Russian military overall?
Poor. Russian soldiers are seen as troublemakers and thieves. There's also a fair bit of resentment that the Russian military is being "given" so much kit (armored vehicles, tanks, more). This obviously leaves Belarus more vulnerable, which is seen rather dimly.

Putin has been trying to coerce Lukashenko into attacking Ukraine since the war began last year, up to and including possibly assassinating politicians in Belarus. Luka seems disinclined to commit. He's not in a position where he can oppose Putin, but he probably knows that if he supports Russia with direct force, either his own people will kill him or western glowies will when this starts winding down. He's not a "real person" in terms of international politics, he could have an accident, like Gaddafi did. Lukashenko is not going to court a bayonet enema for what seems to be a lost cause.

Historically it was the same entity with Ukraine until at some point they were divided on purely administrative basis, Belarus land going directly under Lithuania jurisdiction and the rest later becoming Ukraine.
So Belarus is part of Ukraine that was annexed and partially assimilated by Lithuania about ~500 years ago.
Belarusians think they are the real Grand Duchy of Lithuania and modern baltic Lithuania just stole the name in post-russian chaos, they consider Vilnius to be their city, their real capital.
There's above 0 chance that in world without Lukashenko Belarus and Lithuania would unify or at least create some personal union for free trade/movement.

        Anonymous

Principality of Polotsk and Principality of Turov were parts of Kyivan Rus, but it doesn't mean modern Belarus is a part of Ukraine.
Kyivan Rus was a medieval state, destroyed by Golden Horde, so for the next centuries its people were divided and created not united but three different nations - Ukrainians, Russians and Belarusians.
