Most of that was from killing off the sparrows, though.

false. mosquitoes are important pollinators to lots of plants. The main diet of mosquitoes is nectar, it's only the gravid females who actually drink blood.

I can't believe that people still buy into this meme that a species that is so prevalent in countless ecosystems is still somehow ecologically "useless". You can hate them, just don't make shit up to justify that.

      Dragonflies eat them.

My family all have property in the same wooded swampy area. Mosquitos have always been horrible. Two years ago dragonflies swarms showed up. They are so thick they darken the sky. Suddenly no more mosquitos. I'm not sure where they came from, but I have to wonder if someone released them to deal with the mosquitos. It wasn't gradual, dragonflies were just suddenly everywhere.

Another way to combat them is mosquito dunks. Hard to add to water not on your land, but you can place buckets of water with a dunk in it on your property to kill any breeding near you.

      >bug pretty much beats out all other insects in sheer population density
      >somehow drive it to extinction (not humanly possible)
      >everything that eats mosquitos has lost it's food supply
And so on and so fourth, its what you'd expect to happen

        >somehow drive it to extinction (not humanly possible)
It's actually extremely easy and they've been made extinct in several places in Africa already.

If you want to keep mosquitoes from biting you, simply eat Borax and various other salts like Epsom, Potassium and Citrate. It also gives you electrolytes and helps to repair your body.

Need to figure out how to keep mosquitos away while fishing. I always get swarmed at dusk by those frickers. Even if I put on bug spray, I'm always more prone to get bit up.

I use bug netting over my head and clothing thick enough to prevent bites but with air vents where I have sewn in meshing. The air vents on the jacket are too small so it gets hot but the pants are great with four large openings.

Have there been any studies to see if eating something like garlic, or something else works as a natural repellent? Hate spraying Off and other shit and not going to be a netgay

why are there so many fricking skeeters in the northwoods bros? going to other wooded areas in appalachia for example I cannot comprehend why there are so few

Northwoods are geologically younger due to how the glaciers receeded so there is less soil and trees so the water table is higher, making the area more boggy and wet which is perfect for mosquitos.
