Beginner carry questions

I'm looking for a carry gun because I finally have the money to afford something that isn't a hi point. I'm not a huge fan of glocks, and sig is way out of my range, but a buddy of mine really recommends his Jericho, I wanna say it's a Jericho FS. Does anyone here have any experience and/or critiques of Jericho pistols? How about other CZ clones?

i own a p89 and a jericho and the manual of arms on both guns is honestly completely different and going from the p89 to the jericho made me realize the differences. the gun works 20x better if you wiener it overhand, whereas you shouldn't wiener a ruger like that because it has the sig/glock style barrel lock. and the spring is way stronger on the jericho so it's just awkward to wiener it from the rear

do what works for you but after shooting it for a while it's just obvious to me that the overhand grip is how you are 'supposed' to wiener the gun. which seems really stupidly over-tactical but im just being honest

Check range's rental section, most place rent by the hours and let you trade out different rental guns so you get to try out different make and model in one range trip.

Jerichos are entirely fine but they arent a new user's gun, a utilitarian's gun, a competitor's gun, a tactical guy's gun, etc.
They're almost entirely just range toys and reserved for people who like Cowboy Bebop.

    Pros:
    Reliable Hammer Fired handgun
    Metal construction
    CZ platform
    decent enough aftermarket
    looks "cool"

    Cons:
    Made by israelites
big and bulky and annoying to carry
small slide as the other anon has mentioned
many different variants that are incompatible with each other (slide vs frame safety, rails vs no rails, different slide lengths for barrels, etc.)
quality control is shit and a large chunk of the available guns are used or surplus imports (DERSERT EAGLE billboarding lmao)
Highly sought after by Cowboy Bebop weebs which have driven up the price of the gun way more than what it's actually worth

Also know that the irons on these guns have been extremely fricked up and shoot like ass, which is why everyone just posts pictures of theirs and doesnt actually carry them.

Only the proper KBI 941Rs are more expensive, Desert Eagle Pistols like yours or the 941s with the dewienerer or the short barrel are in the ~$500 range which is exactly what I would expect from a Tanfoglio manufactured CZ-75 clone with non-Tanfoglio stamps.

Your buddy here isn't giving you good advice.
I generally don't recommend going after a full size (my definition of full size being anything bigger than a Glock 19 and up to a six inch revolver) handgun unless you intend to keep it in the car (which I do most of the time) or carry it if you feel confident enough to do it or only if you live in a semi-cucked state that only allows CC (Florida has great self defense laws but it is cucked on carrying)
Pick up a handgun like a S&W Shield, Sig P365, Glock 48/43x or a Smith and Wesson 638 if you seriously are considereding concealed carrying

I've seen several people criticize it for being "full size", but the few that I'm looking at are listed has having a 3.5" barrel length. Is that really something to consider as full-sized?

this is a fantastic post. i bought a baby eagle and this is pretty much my experience in a nutshell

it's a fantastically accurate gun, but it's not realiable. it's aftermarket support is literally non-existent, it's not compatible with other jerichos or tanfoglios or other baby eagles. and i had to jerry rig the irons to get the gun to shoot properly - now that i did it's a laser beam but i had to nig rig that son of a b***h with unsupported sights because good luck finding iron sights! i love the ergonomics but it's basically taught me a ton of lessons about how moronic boomers are and how you should temper the moronic shit you hear on the internet.

i literally didn't know anything about jerichos before buying this nor did i know it was the cowboy bebop gun, i bought it because it was $400 and the magnum research styling is so gross and austentatious it folds back into 'unironically cool.' but it's not a duty pistol and don't pretend it is because zionist israelites are incapable of saying anything negative about anything tangentially related to israel. it's a mediocre gun

They're large and heavy as carry guns. You're going to notice the weight fast and the size makes them a pain to conceal unless you're built like Chad. Just get a Glock 19. P365 is also fine and even more concealable. Don't let the morons on /k/ con you into a full-size steel frame as a first carry. A Jericho is for fun/larping.

A P365XL or P365X Macro. You get 12, 14, 15, or 17rds depending on the mags you choose. And with the wilson combat grip you should be able to shoot it pretty well unless you have giant man hands.

and here's the bolt. Turkish piece of shit waste of 600 dollars

Turkish shotguns all come from the same uruk hai factory that nobody can properly identify.
There have been dozens of American importers who set up an overnight shop, buy a batch or two of shotguns, slap their own label on them and then dissolve the company when reviews on them start to go to shit.
Just so you know, this same factory provides shotguns for CZ, Browning and Remington too.

There ARE reputable turkish companies making very good guns for their price out there. Don't swear them off completely.
Canik and Sarsilmaz both make some very high quality striker fired handguns.
Girsan makes the only good FN Hi-Power clones available right now.
Tisas makes a great 1911 with forged parts.

I can't speak on the carry aspect (work reasons, can't carry while on the job) but the jericho is an amazing pistol. Feels good in hand, shoots smooth, reliable as hell.

    Anonymous

Unless you're open carrying (why?) or you are 6'4"+ or you are 260+ lb then carrying a full-size steel frame pistol is not a very good idea.
Here's the shitty truth: no pistol which feels great to shoot will feel great to carry. Carry guns are designed to be small which makes them not fit well in your hand, gives them low capacity, and makes them feel "snappy" due to their light weight and diminutive travel. They might have heavy double-action only triggers. Full-size guns on the other hand are designed to fill your hand, recoil smoothly due to the long travel and greater weight, and probably have a light single-action trigger pull. It's a tradeoff.

this is my Jericho. don't get this for a gun you want to carry. get something that's like a Glock 19 from a normal manufacturer first. this is around 3pounds loaded, twice as much a Walther pdp or vp9 or whatever. this is a fun gun but holster support is extremely limited, aftermarket is extremely limited and it's not a convenient gun to carry. it's a great second pistol.

those tiny guns generally suck dick to shoot. Glock 19 is the perfect sized gun. you can buy a gun this size from any major manufacturer just start with those tbh

          Anonymous

They're too small, all are really annoying and shitty to shoot. There's a reason everyoje recommends a glock 19 as a first gun. By glock 19 I mean any brand or type of gun that is the size of a glock 19, pick your favorite, for CZs that is the P-01. Big enough that it's actually comfortable to shoot and you can take it to defensive handgun classes or shooting competitions and not hate your life, small and light enough that it isn't a massive pain in the ass to carry around every day.

please don't listen to this redditor. the cz isn't a bad gun but the fact that he recommended a cz and an anime means he doesn't shoot and likely wears programmer socks. plus as a new shooter da/sa is significantly harder to master. try one out, but try out a Glock or m&p or other plastic guns first. they're not as sexy but there's a reason everyone and their mother carries and shoots these and they took over the market

Never even seen the anime just assumed he did since why else would anyone want a jericho lmao. DA/SA is fine though, not really particularly difficult to master.

                Anonymous

for a new shooter he hasn't mastered anything so adding a 13 pound pull that will frick up his groups initially for a long time isn't ideal. the literature is in on this thing and your hit probability just increases rapidly when you remove variables from the shooting experience. multiple trigger types on the same gun are one of those variables. there a reason you start with a Glock 19 even if it's gay, it's because it's the training wheels you learn to shoot on so when you stop sucking so much you can figure out what you think is cool and want to try next. before then you don't know what you don't know and your need to practice to learn how to shoot.

                Anonymous

I think the most important thing for a new shooter is to get a gun he thinks is cool and enjoys shooting. That's what gets you out to the range to actually practice. Having a simpler manual of arms doesn't really help much if you still never shoot.

                Anonymous

that's kind of a cope. whether your gun is cool or not doesn't matter. people will shoot if they want to shoot, and they will sit at home fondling their gun and taking pictures if they're not willing to shoot. I do agree the pistol bought matters less then actually practicing, but set yourself up for success. your first pistol that you actually carry is a tool not a piece of israeliteelry

                >adding a 13 pound pull that will frick up his groups initially for a long time isn't ideal
he's talking about a double action semi -auto, not a double action revolver. the single action trigger is going to be like 4 pounds

                > the literature is in on this thing
i do not follow "literature" and making empty appeals that someone should do something else because a third party said so is the hallmark of a boomer and is the reason why people generally view the baby boomers as annoying children. That's why everything they made collapsed decades ago.

                >your hit probability just increases rapidly when you remove variables from the shooting experience.
while this is true on paper i am pretty much 100% certain that i could give you one of my guns and you would not be able to shoot them accurately because the guns i own are entirely different from the guns you own and you do not bridge that gap by 'removing variables'

                Anonymous

bebop is a masterpiece and a classic that will withstand the test of time, but it's also one of those stories that attracts a fanbase because people attach themselves to the main character because he's 'literally me' and then completely fail to take the message and the themes of the story into account. every spike fanboy i've ever met was a fanboy because they are broken in the same way spike is broken and there's zero self awareness or understanding of his character arc

its not that cowboy bebop is particularly difficult to understand, but most people interpret "you're gonna carry that weight" to be about the universe dumping baggage on them, instead of their own decisions causing consequences that follow them.

    > I'm not a huge fan of glocks
Look, I get it. You’re a normie and you wanna show off how speshul and unique you are. I was like that too once. Thing is, your tastes aren’t patrician, and you’re not smarter than everyone else. Glocks are the defacto standard for a reason.

Also if you’re CCing, nobody but you is gonna notice, and if you’re OCing, anyone who’s not moronic will see it as a respectable choice. Ditch the unwarranted self importance and buy a Glock.

      Anonymous

Not a "speshul and unique" thing at all, just don't care for any of the ones I've managed to get my hands on to shoot. So far, they've felt about as ergonomic as a brick, and while I understand that it doesn't make a pistol less safe, I still prefer having an external safety of some kind. So not a "patrician taste" thing, not a "I wanna look different" thing, just not a fan of Glocks, that's all.

        Anonymous

The glock for dumb noguns who think they need an external safety is the S&W M&P. Otherwise it's a stupid requirement that limits you to clapped out old shit pistols like the Jericho or expensive pistols that you don't know enough to make an informed decision on.

          Anonymous

external safeties are for babies, but i won't use a gun with a striker without multiple safeties. if i can't manually stop the action with my finger then it needs some way for me to ensure that the gun cannot discharge in my hand. i didn't say 'won't discharge' i said "cannot discharge' because you cannot trust a safety.

You can call me an idiot who isn't listening to the experts, but after seeing all of these negligent discharges with sigs lateley, i'm just going to point to the thing i said earlier about baby boomers being children who can't admit when they're wrong.

            Anonymous

No, you're right. Sigs that randomly go off by themselves are considerably more stupid than even the most beat to shit 80s relic police trade in 5904. Competently designed striker guns like Glocks, M&Ps, P10s, PDPs, VP9s, etc. are much better first guns than either.

Most of the people in this are either fat or don’t carry every day. In the current year there is no excuse not to carry a full size handgun. If you are in shape enough to not be winded getting out of bed you can easily conceal a full size handgun. The grip size affects conceal-ability and printing, not the barrel length because the barrel is in your pants.

Don’t frick around with the single belt clip style holsters. Get a Blue Alpha belt and a Galco kingtuk holster (or anything that utilizes two belt clips or belt loops and make it ride as low in your pants as possible while still being able to draw reliably.

I carry a p226 which I would not recommend for a new carrier because of the weight. Most Glocks will be chunky and semi difficult to conceal (not impossible by any means but it’s easier with others) Anything with curves (EG p226, beretta 92, PX4 storm,CZ 75, P09) will look “less like a gun” if it does happen to print at an odd angle or something.
