has this action trope ever happened in recorded history? Are grenades really that easy to fuck with?

I mean, there's that video from Ukraine of the Russian guy under the van kicking it away from himself and to the of his group of friendlies. That counts, right?

Wait he kicked the grenade over to friendlies? What a Joker

Hero's jump on grenades. Vatniks increase their lethality for the enemy.

Hero’s what? You do know what an apostrophe is, right?

I'm too drunk to care as evidenced by the borderline stroke like nature of my first post.

          >Implying you wouldnt do anything possible to get rid of a grenade that landed at your feet

It's not like he deliberately decided his comrades' sacrifice were worth him surviving, he probably just fucked up his split-second decision

Not only that, but we had a video of a Ukrainian soldier tossing away two grenades that landed in his trench until the third one got him. So that answers OP's question exactly

Damn, where do I find these videos?
And why did the third one get him?

It was on PrepHole back then but I didn't save it. He didn't see the third grenade coming I guess

lots of grenades have a fuse time of like 5-6 seconds. if a grenade was thrown from a short distance away and the user didn't cook it, you have a good two or three seconds to toss it back or kick it out of the way if you're quick.

Most grenades are time fused. If you just throw it without cooking it, yeah, it can theoretically be thrown back. Obviously impact fused grenades don't have this problem, but they have their own issues.

      >cooking it.

IRL isn't this a bad idea?

if you're throwing it a decent distance theres no reason to cook it but if you're throwing it into the next room you absolutely want to cook it so they CANT throw it back.

Modern grenades tend to have 2-second or impact fuses so it's kind of unnecessary. WW1/2 era grenades tended to have 5+ sec fuses so you kinda had to try cooking them

i mean in the expanse you'd probably have like future tech grenades smart enough to blow up if a little gyro+chip inside can tell if it's being moved back towards its user and self-det before its a threat

in real life you're not really supposed to "cook" a grenade, it's pretty stupid to hold an active explosive device. I'm sure the construction of new hand grenades is high quality enough that the fuze is always the same time, but I think older grenades were much less 'accurate' or were more prone the fuze being damaged/wet
